i have to agree that the side scrollers would be really fun on that machine, but gears of war or CoD4 or CoD:WAW would be really hard on that.

I still have an old 1980 TV that i occasionally play on and the text is not that hard to see and read. You just have to get used to it.

Certain games have that "HD only programmation". The first time I saw such small text was when me and my friend we tried 99 nights. Oh god was it unreadable.
