Mozilla is an awesome software company and i hope they hit Microshaft where it hurts... especially now that MS is messing with Firefox without permission

should be allowed to package IE with Windows. There is nothing wrong with that. Where the problem would be if they required you use IE to surf the web.

I have yet to find one PC where i couldn't get Firefox on it. So what is the issue? Take 15 mins to download and install Firefox, or put the exe on a flash drive and take less then 5 mins to install.

Other then that, i don't have any pity for the giant Micro$oft.

having option to choose from all the major browsers would be nice thing and not too much to ask now would it. If mozilla would completely crush IE with Opera and chrome many Web designers would start believing in god or something.

maybe MS should just sell IE & everything else as an add-on for the OS for a ridiculous price like they do with the 360. People tend to like wasting their money on MS's over priced add-ons.

Here is what's going to happen.

Software/hardware Price + Lawsuit Price = customer price.

Obviously these lawsuits are bias since Mac distributes Safari on their OS too... but no one look at them and say a word.

My primary browser is Firefox and I used IE to download firefox.

I mean don't a browser needs to be install to allow people to download another? Since the OS maker does make a browser isn't that the obvious choice? As I said this is the same case with Apple... what Mozilla should do is Make their own OS so they can bundle it with their browser. lol.

What Microsoft should do is ship windows without a browser in Europe so they can use their balls to browse the internet to firefox.com in order to download it... or better yet order a firefox disc and wait a few days before installing it.

Thank you Microsoft for being the browser of choice for the first 5 minutes. Without you bundling your browser with Windows, it would be kinda hard for me to get Firefox.

Honestly, I love Firefox. I use it plenty, but Microsoft has every right to bundle their free software with their operating system. Firefox is free the same way. They could make an OS and bundle their browser with it. And at the same time, why aren't people going after Apple for including Safari in their OS? This case isn't brought about because of some injustice. It's pure Microsoft hate.

I really don't care what your reason is for hating Microsoft. Recognize that it's a double standard just because you have this half-baked concept of what an "evil corporation" is.

How are you supposed to get to the internet and download firefox or what have you if IE isn't bundled with Windows?

For the record what is hard about going to start+control panel+add remove programs+windows components+remove IE?

but as gchamplin pointed out unless you have a choice of multiple browsers when loading windows then you need IE to get another browser.

MS haters, IMO the OS is an integral part of the OS, how come I only ever seem to see lawsuits against MS, this is nothing more than a which hunt.

Let them continue to bundle IE with Windows ffs, it's an integral part of a lot of programs. Most people eventually get offered a choice and they will make that choice on their own, they don't need a lawsuit to help them.

I don't see anywhere about suing Apple for having Safari to the bundle and what about the web browser the PS3 uses to should that not be added into the lawsuit as well, throw in the web browser the Wii uses to. Microsoft should have a web broswer added into the bundle it is ulitmatly the consumer who decided who they use for surfing the web I know people who use Explorer and Firefox

90% of consumers pay to have their antivirus software installed for them. if ie wasn't bundled with windows you know how screwed all these people would be? It's good that IE is bundled. The way Microsoft wiped out netscape isn't good but the results imo made computers far more accessible.

This lawsuit is so stupid and I can tell by most of the people that have commented here that they either hate Microsoft or are very dumb. And by dumb, I mean dumb as in "why not put a disposable browser on Windows to let you download a browser because the casual user doesn't know about, say, Firefox" dumb. Why should Microsoft or any company be forced to advertise or put on a disc, their competitor's product, that's free advertising and not what capitalisim is about. As long as Microsoft is not preventing you from getting or using the other browsers (Netscape anyone?), there is no problem.

And have you ever thought that for a casual computer user, Internet Explorer is enought and by putting more choices at first boot would confuse many who don't know the difference between browsers. I don't spend much time on the computer but when I do, IE is more than enough.

Think of it this way, if I made Product W and then came out with Product I, but another company came out with Product M for my Product W that does the same as Product I, why must I bundle Product M with my Product W which has Product I and gives access to getting Product M. Product M's company isn't giving me anything for it and it's not fair.

Don't let your hate for Microsoft make you look stupid.

And for the record, IE is an integral part of Windows, try removing it from XP or Vusta and you will f*** up some features big time, even with FF installed.

I don't mind the fact that Windows ships with IE. The only time I use IE is after a format or something liek t hat to download FireFox again. After that it never really gets used until I come across the odd website that doesn't really work with FireFox and then for a short time I have to use IE when on hat particular site, because some are just quirky when it comes to them working with different browsers.

I've noticed the amount of sites I visit that suffer from this has decreased over the years though, it hardly ever happens anymore.

The option to uninstall IE would be nice but I won't get worked up about not being able to.

So, let me get this straight... MS has been kicking Mozilla's butt all this time, and now they run crying to a judge.

Windows belongs to MS. It's theirs to do whatever they want with it. Why don't Mozilla come out with something better, to try and gain more marketshare, instead of running home to mommy everytime something doesn't go their way.

No offense I hate IE and I love Firefox, so don't get me wrong. But how can you sue Microsoft for using it's products, in it's own products? Firefox is widely available on the internet, why does Microsoft need to bundle it? Apple Bundles only Safari, so why is Microsoft getting pegged?

From the moment you first turn on your computer, it should give you a list of browsers to choose from. This will give other browsers a chance for market share, as well as, level the playing field for Microsoft and its competition.

im tired of these people. there is nothing wrong here, IE is a part of windows. T_T if anyone says differently your just pathetic. not like Firefox is loosing money here, so in the end, they are just going to lose.

So how is stripping out IE and replacing it with a rival browser giving the people a choice? they still only have one browser preinstalled. But the second option sounds better in that people are given a list of browsers the choose from. I personally always replace IE with firefox on all my friends machines.

I'd go with MOZILLA any day of the week. MicroSCUM needs to be fed their own medicine once and for all.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
