I have a Sony Playstation 3 because of the fact that I have a Sony TV and stereo. Sony is always pure quality. I like the exclusive titles, enjoy Blu-ray (a lot), wireless internet, free multiplayer gamning, the ability to (cheap and easy) change the harddrive.

Great great great exclusives. Show me a quality console, which has this exclusive line-up and the same features as the Sony Playstation 3 and I'll buy it.

Why should I risk the Red Ring of Death on the Xbox 360? Why should I pay for multiplayer gaming? Why should I invest extra for wireless? Why should changing the harddrive cost me so much? Why should I get a extra Blu-ray player? The Microsoft Xbox 360 just isn't good enough for me (and I even bought the original Microsoft Xbox because I thought it was better than the Sony Playstation 2)

Why should I get the Nintendo Wii? The quality of the games is not next gen. I could just keep the Microsoft Xbox (even though there are no new games) or buy a Sony Playstation 2. I could not care less about "family games". The nintendo Wii simply isn't good enough (why do people buy them?).

So there you have it. I prefer the Sony Playstation 3. I made a choice. I bought the Sony Playstation 3. Why? I just told you! So shoot me!

I think it goes beyond an alignment to a particular product and more of a means of getting attention. I've read many an excellent article on N4G and they didn't get one comment. Yet, if you start an artical with "Xbox 360/PS3 is doomed" and instantly you have 200 replies and ahuge amount of hits on your site.
The same goes for artical responces. If it's a genuinely interesting or enlightened responce it's flat out ignored, and comments like "the Xbox 360/PS3 is a failure" suddenly you have a dozen and a half responces.
Adam Sessler of G4 is a fine example of this. When addressing the user comments about the Killzone 2 review, he only called into point the more faboyish comments and not a single coherent statement. I know he was just making a point but any large press like that or the Meticritic insidence only gives them more a reason to do such tings and Its not just the fanboys, it's also users that perposly taunt the fanboys knowing they will get stirred up.

It won't stop but i really wish it did. I mean i own a ps3, 360 and powerfull pc so i want to hear about gaming news and not why some poeple think a certain console is better than the other or whatever. It would be good if N4G toughened up on the Sections to ensure the gamer zone really is the 'gamer zone', Also although i'm sure there are plenty of good contributors out there i'm amazed at how many pointless articles get approved.

Said it before but give me news for gamers and not news for fanboys :)

By the way i'm not suggesting you need to own all consoles not to be biased, i mean quite a few people only own 1 system but they don't feel the need to 'bash' the 'rival' system.

It's not too different from 2 siblings fighting with each other as they grow up. The anti-fanboys are much like the parents trying to stop it. Both sides are equally as noisy and in the end both are going to do what they are going to do.

If you've been around enough gaming sites like N4G, you just develop a filter and read those articles you care about and ignore all the rest. Although, I would say I like to read these anti articles because of the hypocrisy of their message.

I can understand the 360 or the Wii's popularity, but the PS3's fanbase resembles a classic cult of personality on the scale of Mao or Stalin. The way they deny the truth is religious in nature. Of course, the denial of the RROD is quite interesting in that light as well.

The other cult I'm a bit sick of is the anti-Microsoft cult. I would not want to see the state of the tech industry without MS. It would be a wildly different world and not necessarily better.

And I wouldn't want to see the future of the game industry WITH Nintendo.

Although, it would be nice to have a forum that strictly moderated comments, and had a more stringent membership criteria - for those times when a sensible discussion about gaming is desired without crazed fanboy interuption...

than to waste energy fighting about which console is better. Besides - I play games to have fun - and while I love a good discussion with informed people who can articulate a point, arguing with narrow-minded fools who are blinded by some weird loyalty to a piece of electronics that they have allowed to define their existence just isn't fun.

Any true gamer will recognize that there are great games and experiences to be had on all the systems - even if you choose to only own and play games on one system.

People need to just use the Gamer and Open Zone as it was intended to be used (to bad it's not enforced). The problem is people post in both areas, without thinking about it so if your going to bash or leave fanboy comments use the open zone. Hopefully it will get better.

I LOVE GAMES. I've owned and most importantly enjoyed almost every system out there from the original Atari 2600 to last gen's 3 main consoles and this gen's 3. Since the launch day of this generation's version of the Playstation there seems to have happened something that has completely ruined videogame journalism: Fanboyism. It's like this huge tidal wave of Xbox360 fanboys took everything and you just could not read or go anywhere where PS3 bashing wasn't shoved down your goddamn throat whether you actually cared or not. As far as these cats go your ps3 should be shot in the backyard and the Xbox360 should be worshipped as a martyr for giving you a good time (with mostly the same games ps3 has) before going RROD on ya.

That in turn has made the gaming community go into an all out stupid fanboy war of epic proportions and a new all time low for everyone. Enjoy your systems no matter which you got and if you like stuff on the other system just get it too jeez.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
