Stupid Comparison. Halo was built for fun first, graphics second. Killzone was built the other way round.
Killzone is great but Halo is still one of the most fun games still. Hell i played Halo C.E the other day and the game play in that still stands up even though the graphics look poor now. And that was released what 7 years ago.
Bungie will be the first to admit there game can't stand up to Killzone grpahically but gameplay wise it can hold its own.
And if you look at Halo3 the texture work up close is actually pretty good.

While were at it, let's compare a Lambo to a Kia.

Killzone is better but i have to say looking at it now Halo3 doesn't look as bad as i thought it was opon release.
Killzone was obviously built with graphics in mind first whereas Halo was game mechanics then graphics.
Even though there both fps's they play very very differently and both accomplish what the developers intended.

This is just stupid. Halo 3 was never all that great looking. It wasn't piss poor, just not to its full ability.

I will give Halo3 some credit. That game was feature packed to the brim. It may not have been the most eye pleasing game, but damn did it have some interesting features.

-Many/customizble MP modes (to the point ppl managed to make their own)

-Amazing replay system. Saved replays of the last 25 matches you had in full res and with a camera you could free roam with in real time. Plus you could edit and upload the videos and Pics. Only other game to have a similar system were sports titles and Banjo Kazooie Nut & Bolts...it needs to be in every game.

-Forge Editor. PC gamers have been modding games for a long time, it's nothing new. Hell Far Cry 2 has a very nice console map editor. But Forge had sort of a Little Big Planet vibe to it in a way. Every item hads its physics in tact (very exploitable physics so not realistic)and you could do forge editing in the midst of a ongoing fight.

-4 player co-op for the entire campaign.

-Small in-door action to large open battle fields. Those scarabs were huge (obviously stunted with recent games like Resistance), but fighting from either foot, car, or airship with all sorts of mini fights scattered about made it pretty impressive.

Regardless of all that, Halo 3 wasnt really my kind of shooter game. But it had things that I wish were implemented and improved on in other games. that replay system tho is just something I hope becomes standard in consoles games. Hell maybe built into the console itself...a pretty nice next gen feature for the future maybe>

took a while to make, Gears 2 was out approx a year after the 1st and has better textures than KZ2, I would love to know what the Xbox-360 could produce with a 50 million budget, not knocking KZ2 because it looks fantastic but I do wander about the trade off's that are becoming apparent with KZ2, it's a mixture of really good and really bad textures, Halo 3 is not very good graphically but to compare it to a game that has a 50 million budget and has only just finally seen the light of day is a stupid comparison, KZ2 as good as it is does not quite justify a 50 million budget, one thing I have noticed with the PS3 is that it strugles with textures, yes the Cell is great for Physics and can help to hide some of the faults e.g. with brilliant animation but it is clear even with KZ2 that GG had a lot of the problems other devs have had.

yeah i agree that replay feature was great. Don't know why more games don't have it. Would have been great in Killzone2.

Halo 3 & Killzone 2 both have very different art style, it's like comparing Okami to Twilight princess! Either way I'd take the game with better game play any day over the game with better graphics.

I've not been a big Halo fan since the first one, the sequels were ok, but I personally didn't enjoy them as much as I enjoyed Halo1 when it was released.

Killzone 2 i've only played the demo, and it looks good with lots of potential to be a great game, but I'll make my final judgment once I've played the majority of the full version.

Either Halo 3 was a fun game while it lasted, just not as revolutionary as the original, and I've never felt compelled to play it again, apart from the occasional multiplayer game with friends.

These graphics comparison articles are getting ridiculous. Halo 3 uses BRIGHT COLOURS with a focus on scale and shiny, HDR-filled NATURAL LANDSCAPES.

Killzone 2 uses GREY, DESTROYED landscapes.

How could it even be suggested that these two totally different games could be compared visually? We should wait for something that makes more sense like Wii Sports compared to Gears of War 2.

Wow, as you can see Halo 3 clearly has similar textures as KZ2 and in some instances like screenshot number 4 and 6 actually look better. A few reviews have stated that KZ2 has less than average textures but amazing animations.

If you were to compare Halo just does not fit. You should try Gears of War 2. Both are dark gritty types of games. You can't compare dark gritty to bright skittles art styles. In the end Halo is Halo and Killzone 2 is Killzone 2. Different games that have a great multiplayer aspect. Fanboys need to stop being stupid and just play the games that may grace the systems they love.

Games are just about graphics. If they were, then just about every PC game would be more popular than any console game. After all, I can run Crysis at far higher resolutions on my PC than any PS3 game. Games are about other things too. Storyline, depth, fun factor, etc.. Halo isn't played millions of times a year because it is the best looking game. They are tons of better games, and from the look of it, KZ2 will be far better looking in the graphics department. Halo 3 is played because it is fun. It is easy to pick up and it reminds you of the same Halo game you played years ago. KZ2 will likely rock. It looks great and reportedly has a lot of depth. That said, KZ2 is not going to "kill" anything...including Halo. If you don't understand what I am saying you are a blind flameboy.

Not have shadows at all or what? The enemies don't cast shadows and neither do the players it seems. It really distracts from the game making everything appear like it doesn't belong or something. Very odd.

I understand that both consoles have their strength and weaknesses, but I don't really understand why people are even making a comparison between the two games.

Halo 3 is pretty dated now, and it has been collecting some dust on my shelf for a while now. I still think it's a great game, but the time has passed. It's like trying to pick up Golden Eye on the N64 again, it just wouldn't been the same experience I had then as I do now.

I wouldn't turn down a Lamborghini Diablo, but I rather a Murcielago- in this case, Killzone 2. Obviously with the progression of technology, you can't exactly compare the two cars, but you can say that Halo 3 was the Murcielage of it's time.

For those who still want to push the subject and compare graphics, I just have to say WoW. I'm not a fan of WoW but I can't deny it's popularity. And let's face it, the game isn't exactly demanding on the video card end. It's not always about esthetics, sometimes there's a bit of juice under the hood.

Besides, Halo 3 has much more to it's franchise than Killzone 2. Halo has 3 titles released, 2 more on the way, a stack of novels to follow the story, collector action figures, and some discussion about a movie being produced. That has to say a lot about Halo and it's fans. Killzone doesn't have that, but I would still like to be playing Killzone 2 right about now.

Crysis Warhead at 2560 by 1600 thats 198% more pixels than 1080P with full AA x16q at very high or Enthusiast as its now known could not even be achieved on the PS3 and Xbox 360 put togher just the res alone would rrod the 360 and ylod the PS3

I have Crysis , Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars I also have Halo 3 and Killzone 2 demo plus had access to Killzone 2 beta and trust me crysis could can not be beaten in the 7th gen of gaming

Guys is it me or are Killzone's graphics over rated? I played the demo and man I must say I am not that really impressed. I liked the short demo and all but was it ground breaking? no. Was it anything new that I haven't played before? no. Were the graphics the best I have ever seen? no. Was it the best graphics I have seen on a console? not yet. Sure they are good but in my opinion I don't think they have better graphics than halo, but also i didn't think COD or Gears looked better because right off the bat Halo 3 had better draw distance, better water graphics, more color, and just better environment graphics.

Are the other games graphics bad? no. But the point that Killzone doesn't look better than Halo (in my opinion) or Call of Duty 4 or even Crysis. I need to play more of the campaign to see how well the story is but overall I enjoyed the demo but seriously people need to calm down with the hype of this game being so revolutionary. Hell the controls don't even feel right and to be honest I would rather play Resistance 2 over again than this demo.

RE5 graphics are good , but not great, Killzone 2 garphics are amazing.

This comparison is like comparing the visuals of Mario 64 to Mario Sunshine. It's just pointless. There is no doubt that Killzone 2 is the best looking console game. Halo 3 has never been known for being a looker. Hell if anyone wants some really good graphics check out the game The Darkness. To me those are some of the best graphics this gen.

Why in gods name would they even compare the two. 360 fans know Halo wasn't a fantastic looking game, but it wasn't terrible either. The games also have completely different art styles. It's like comparing Van Gogh to Da Vinci paintings, both are great but people will look at them side by side and see a difference, and most likely throw out a WTF. This comparison is just to start fires or for someone who honestly believes that they're comparable. Halo=Fun/Features. Killzone=Fun/Graphics

Technically Halo3 isn't going to be as intensely impressive graphically but it's still a very good looking game

Above everything else it's the most fun iv'e ever had with a shooter, clocking in some 150 campaign missions now

Almost gave up on Halo3 as it is quite underwhelming at first but anyone here that's played the game a whole lot, will tell you how great the game is despite it's initial disappointments

Graphics are great and certainly not a negative for KZ2(unless you really don't like the palette)but if that's what the basis is for being the best fps shooter then that's a very sad and shallow argument

I don't know why 360 fans complain that ps3 fans are Bltching too much about Killzone 2, but when the ps3 launched 360 just talked SHlT about it for like a year!

As soon as KZ does 4 player online co op and has massive open ended levels then we can compare. Why nobody gets this is strange to me... The reason H3 was not the best looking is what it did with the online portion. Plus lets add video capture in there also.

KZ2 will be a fun game but the reason it looks so good is because they kept it tight... no co op and very scripted, which is fine but that is how you gain the resources for the visuals.

Halo 3 Controls > KZ2 controls

Halo 3 Co-op > KZ2 Missing Co-op

Halo 3 Matchmaking > KZ2 Matchmaking

Halo 3 Party mode > KZ2 Party mode

Halo 3 Graphics < KZ2 Graphics

Hey guys, let's compare the graphics from a game that came out in '07 to a game that came out in '09.

I think Halo still looks goods, in motion it works well, i think everyone expected more with the graphics but certainly not an ugly game. it did have some great lighting effects, and huge outdoor areas as well
The comparison is understand because of what each game means to their respective systems
KZ2 looks good, i just bought a PS3 last week for it, but I don't think eye candy is enough. If that were so the Wii would be long since dead

guys come on, I'm all for KZ2 looking great, I got a Ps3, i got the game pre ordered, but this game is not the best game ever!! it looks good, but not as good as we were lead to believe. you guys are gonna cry foul when this game fails to sell big an never be mentioned for GOTY!! its a GOOD LOOKING game, but we were told that is was BREATH TAKING, ABOVE ANYTHING EVER SEEN, an that's just not the case. I'm not trying to take anything away from killzone but I'm not gonna give it anything either!! for me I don't care about the system I like the games.

Am sorry but I own both machines and Halo 3 has better colours, lighting, textures and HDR.
KZ2 has low res textures in many areas along with poor lighting, low colour palette with a very dry grey look and the lighting is that poor reflections off of surfaces do not even seem to be there. Also the shadows are hardly ever there either and only seem to appear at some points in the game.

Given Halo 3 does not have much AA overall the game looks far better than KZ2.

I run my XBox and my Playstation 3 at 1080i on my 32" Sanyo LCD HD and i can say Halo looks alot better than pictured there, IMO. But, does it really matter? Ga,es are created for entertainment, not for fighting over which is better. I can take every game made from the atari all the way up till present day and even next gen and compare them and say that i like/hate this/that about each and every game and all i see time and time again on this site is people claiming there homage to there 1 console they own... Gamers? hardly. I always have respect for people who stand up for what they beleive in, but to sit here and back a 'no-name' site like this... Come on guys. And the going for realisim is weak. I am sure real trained soilders are capable of firing a rifle on the move. Yet the devs state the reason you move like a tank is realisim. I never seen a real mech suit but I am sure it would be able to defeated by a rifle. But thats trivial ranting. No ps3 game will ever come to halo 3's amazing gameplay ability. No ps3 fps will ever allow you the ability to richochet a sniper bullet off a wall and strike a person in the head accross the map. (Halo 3 does)

No ps3 game has captured vehicle, hand to hand, and rifle to rifle combat in seamless fashion as bungie has provided in 3 games. Nothing sony exclusive devs have can bounce that ball on Halo 3's court so give it up sit on the bench and start a petition.

And from what I have read. I could go log on to COD 4 or 5 and get the same enjoyment as killzone 2. Grenades thrown, run, seak cover, fire, supress. Yeagh thats f'in familiar.

And no co-op...tisk tisk tisk. But I will play your killzone 2 and get that first hand experience when my brother mboojigga gets back from Iraq...if he even bothers to get it for his ps3. What I do know is the wait n play of old has returned for you sony kids.
