Beefjack Writes: "Seeing Killzone 2's rise in popularity after the success of the demo, PS3 owners rejoice that the game does indeed live up to their expectations and that we can all finally 'believe the hype'. Some gamers though have chosen to discard this game due to a control system they cannot familiarize themselves with simply because Killzone 2 does not play like Call of Duty."

In honour of PlayStation's 30th birthday yesterday in the US, data company Circana has dug out figures showing the top 20 best-selling PlayStation video games ever (date-range Jan 1995 to July 2025). Don't get too excited.
This is a great reminder of how game sales have become more concentrated in a smaller number of games/series over time. In the PS1/PS2 era a game was a success if it sold a million or a few million copies. The GTA games (3/Vice City/San Andreas) were pretty big outliers in selling as much as they did during the PS2 era. So in the minds of a lot of gamers something like FF VII feels like it was as big of a PS1 game as God of War 2018 was for PS4, but in reality far fewer people bought it (though it has obviously reached additional people through remasters, etc.).
What this says to me is, not many people are buying a PS to play PS exclusives. Like so many false narratives, like Xbox gamers don't buy games! It seems Playstation as a default system is a vanilla system to play call of duty, Minecraft, GTA games and a sports games.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies Terminus Island map is recreated for World at War and it looks scarier than the original version!

Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.
1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland
I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.
Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.
Why can't a game just be itself. Why is it that every shooter has to be Halo or Call of Duty to succeed. Also I've heard people say that Killzone 2 doesn't bring anything new to the table. If this is true who cares? Why can't a good game just be that? Why must every great game suddenly change an entire style of games?
"If you cannot play one game because you cannot let another one go, then play your Call of Duty but don’t blame Killzone 2 because you feel you can’t adapt to the different control system and game play style."
Lovely quote! Dont compare it with CoD4 anymore. Why?:
1. Its in Helgan! NOT in afganistan.
2. Killzone 2 is based on teamwork! NOT playing for your own.
Got him?
You can have call of duty controls by selecting the default 2 option and not standard 2. One of the best things about the game is you can run longer and the graphics are awesome. I suggest you tweak the motion sensitivity for the analogue sticks for precise aiming.
My only issue with the controls is I don't want the iron sights to stay locked after I tap L1/R3,everything else was exactly what I wanted
The default controls the game gives you are nothing like COD, but if you select Alternate 2 and Hold Aim it is the exact same (except crouch).
Besides, the game isn't trying to be like every-other game. If you don't like the controls then go play COD.
