Analysts Rob Sanderson and Mark McKechnie wrote in a research note that "multiple industry sources are telling us that [Microsoft] is planning to launch a smartphone," or a mobile device featuring more advanced functionality and capable of accessing the Internet.
"We do not see this as landscape changing, much like their Zune launch," the analysts wrote.

M$ wants a piece of everything. Movies, Video Games, Digital Music, Operating Systems, Compilers, Servers, etc., etc.... And now cellphones (or whatever mobile means to them).
No wonder they don't do anything good. Their Zune Failed, Vista Failed, HD-DVD add-on Failed. In what more area M$ wants to Fail? Now they want to compete against the iPhone?
