i got an i7 with 6 gbram and a geforce 280xt.
and yet il play it on the 360, lot more fun on my 42 inch plasma, then my 22 inch flat panel.

Its still going to the PS3. Ofcourse it is.
They just have their own reasons not announcing that yet.
You can only guess what their strategies are but still people, think a little deeper.

Its high likely we will see a timed Mass Effect 2 exclusivity for X360/PC and then later a version with extra content for the PS3. Now at this moment that would be stupid for them to announce. Furthermore I think we will see a Mass Effect 1 port for the PS3 also. This way EA would earn the most money plus more people can enjoy the game.

I don't see how EA is denying it for PS3, either. It says that it's multiplatform.

Now let's set aside our fanboyism. Let's set aside our preferences. Let's set aside our favorite console and ask this very simple question:

- If Konami said that MGS4 was going multiplatform, would we think for even a SECOND that it wasn't coming to 360?

Why then are people trying to skirt the issue and make excuses for the "multiplatform" label? It's perfectly logical and reasonable to assume that "multiplatform" means a PS3 version also.

@GWAVE- Only time will tell if it is going multi-platform. I own all 3 systems so I have insured that I get the best from all worlds. So I did not worry if MGS4 was going to the 360, I did not worry if Bioshock was going multi, etc because I knew I would have the opportunity to experience the best.

Well if a lot of Sony's games were released on the PC as well then it would be a toss up whether they meant the 360 or PC.

On topic, no one should never say never on anything in this industry (unless they are the company involved in that decision). If MS2 stays as an exclusive to the 360 then great for MS. If is goes to the PS3 as well then hats off Sony.

It's okay to have a preference of gaming consoles, game genres, etc. We can all go around and say that a certain game is superb while other say it suck just for sakes, but each console has produced top notch games that are good to look at and play.

It's your opinion that an import is a better car. Just about every domestic car manufacturer is using import technology. Chrysler alone uses Mercedes, Mitsubishi and Hyundai tech just to name a few. GM's used Toyota for a long time and have moved on to other Japanese partners. Ford does the same thing with Mazda. You drive an import because you want to drive one, not because it is better.

No one has ever said the only platform this game will be on would be the 360 lol.

Read the text again and all the past statements/announcements.

The only time this game is talked about as exclusive is from the console market point of view.

The devs have said this game will be exclusive to MSFT's platforms from the start and why not the first one was.

Most of the gaming communities speak from the console market perspective.

If PSP was powerful enough Sony would double release titles on both their platforms this generation and most would still say PS3 exclusive because most speak from a console perspective. 360 fanboys wouldn't say I'm getting it for PSP to downplay PS3 lol.

ok, how many times have 360 exclusives been labeled as multiplatform because it is also on PC. PS3 fans always use this as a way of arguing that 360 exclusives are not really " exclusive ". So could the same not apply in this case ?

maybe by multiplatorm they mean its going to be on both 360 and PC because according to ps3 fans that is "multiplatform"... or have the rules changed again.

it is sad, i mean i don't see any reason why it should not end up on the ps3 as well... its a good game, one that everyone should get the chance to play. the way i see it, it may end up a timed exclusive. we will have to wait and see. pardon the little rant above, but i do get tired of the constant hot and cold flipping that some people do when it suites them.

Hear me out: Gamespy/IGN network is responsible for for the online infrastructure for many games, notably Unreal Tournament 3 for the PS3.

I know, I have access to the U3 dev kit. But that isn't the same division of Gamespy at all. Not even close. Think of it how Sony and MS compete in consoles then Sony runs Vaio ads that advertise Windows Vista. Well the two Gamespy divisions are even further apart.

Yeah, I do remember Bioshock. One difference to note is that there was game code written for the PS3 leaked when the game was first announced. So that one was just a timed exclusive.

Games that come on the PC and 360 are always called exclusives so I think this would point against it being just on the 360 or PC. Until I hear a direct quote specifically stating its coming to the PC and 360 only I'll assume EA will act like they always do and make it multiplatform. If not oh well, I'm not quite so sure whats so special about ME but I guess a lot of people like it.

The conference call made clear that the game would be released across "multiple platforms". From THAT language, that could mean any amount or types of systems. This two line thing that could've came from anywhere doesn't prove anything, actually. It actually came from Twitter (which, by the way, I'm not sure how THIS was even approved to begin with). They only found the name of someone from Newsweek (who, by the way, wasn't listed yet as hearing anything about the conference call), and you and a few of these other guys are jumping on that point and pushing it as your proof that whoever posted THIS onto Twitter is correct and who you believe it would be.

And yeah, it seems like there are a few that are so in a rush to debunk the possibility that they'll try to find anything. The same people who said we shouldn't care that FF13 went multiplatform are now whining about the possibility of ME2 being MP. PLEASE explain that logic to me, because I don't get it.

EDIT: Thanks for also showing that you're scared for no reason whatsoever by posting those alt sources. I officially never want to hear you say that we shouldn't care if a PS3 exclusive goes multiplat ever again, because you seem to really be too quick to disprove this. Again, why are you so scared about this possibility?

Of course everybody already knows that ME2 will come out on the PC/360, but these days "Multiple Platforms" as stated by the EA representative almost ALWAYS means: PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

The PS3 version wasn't confirmed, but that doesn't mean that it's not coming to the PS3 at all.

I can see ME2 being a timed PC/360 exclusive, but I don't see how ME2 won't come to the PS3 if EA owns Bioware because everything released under EA's umbrella is Multiplatform. I guess we'll just have to wait until GDC until we find out if the PS3 version is actually going to happen or not.

Looking at it in the opposite.. Why not just come out and confirm a PS3 version if there is one? It's no secret EA will whore out any game they can even if they ruin it in the process.

If this PS3 version was so cut and dry why be so coy? I would say timed exclusive but if they've confirmed it for PC and 360 I don't see any advantage of doing that.

Apply your logic to a game like MGS4 which could of sold millions on the Xbox 360. EA is third party, Konami is third party yet they kept it exclusive.

Backroom deals? Maybe. Just because a game is third party doesn't make it default non-exclusive. Tecmo and Quantum Theory is another example.

My only concern for the game is that they try to put it on every platform under the sun and instead of concentrating on the game they are focusing on porting. That's why so many multiplatform games are pure sh*t because they are rushing to get it finished and ported. There are exceptions but when it comes to EA they have a rep of more crap than good.

if it hasnt been 100% denied by now, i think it's most likely a timed exclusive ala Bioshock.

one aspect that should affect this whole thing is: how much did Mass Effect sell on the 360? did it sell as much as Halo or Gears, or about the same as Bioshock..? that should give us an indication of how passionately Microsoft wants to secure ME2 as an exclusive...

If it is coming on the PS3, it will be later (timed exclusive for Microsoft). So obviously they'll talk about Mass Effect coming on the PS3 (if it truly comes out on that console) only like several months after it has been allready released on the Xbox and PC. So even if it comes out on the PS3, I don't think there would be a chance we here about it now, espacially before it eaven comes out to the Xbox and PC.

Well this is just my opinion in the case it does come out on the PS3

My guess is it will be like the first one... comes out in the X360 first then 6 months to a year later it comes to the PC (remains to be seen if it comes out in the PS3).

whats new on this article!!its already been comfirm by Bioware also since the first mass effect lunch on PC!some people still think that dev teams are not in control of there products!there were some agreements made wend MS published the first game,agreements made by Bioware and MS are not lost in translation just because EA bought Bioware!i will think other wise wend and if MS present any lawsuit against EA on this subject!has it state this is old news !

this aint any 3rd party THIS IS EA 3RD PARTY! they usually put their games on every platform available. also they aint even denying it. with MGS4 konami kept and kept denying it and kojima even said the actual words himself. since EA always put their games on nearly every console, why would mass effect 2 be any different? its not that i care but going from whats being said, i dont think even the developers are sure which consoles mass effect 2 is going to be on.

I agree with you that EA third party is even more of a reason to be multiplatform. However, Mass Effect is in an interesting spot considering it was already established with MS and MS published the first game (on 360). Agreements were signed, which I have no idea what the arrangment is but I'm sure MS is not one to sign away their rights to an IP they've invested so heavily in.

It's all guesswork however so it will be interesting to see how it pans out. Like I said above, if there is a PS3 version or if it's only a timed 360 exclusive why be so coy? A timed exclusive loses it's impact when you say, but it's also going to be on the PC too.

However it works out I don't really care because I have a 360 to enjoy it.

as for me, i own Mass Effect on the 360, and i love it. i think it's a brilliant RPG that is mired by technical issues (load times, framerate, texture pop in).

personally, i'd love to have it on the PS3, if it actually utilized the hard drive to cache data so it would perform better.

either way, i'll be getting Mass Effect 2, regardless of what platforms it ultimately ends up on. if it stays exclusive to the 360, then i'll get it on the 360. if it goes multi-platform, i'll get it on the PS3, because i prefer the controller to the 360 pad, and if it utilized the Blu Ray, or HDD to help the game run smoother.

Bioware makes fantastic games, and i wouldn't miss them for the world. i like my PS3 more, but if the 360 has a game i want to play, nothing's going to stop me from playing it.

MS should spend money to keep it exclusive instead of wasting it on crappy DLC...

The game should stay exclusive to make the 360 more appealing, but I doubt it'll stay that way. EA will release it on the PS3 sooner or later UNLESS Microsoft pays a good chunk of green.

Here let me fish out a definition for "Exclusive"

Exclusive:
1.not admitting of something else
2.omitting from consideration or account
3.limited to the object or objects designated
4.shutting out all others from a part or share

So by the literal definition of the word "exclusive" is anything that keeps something or someone out, this includes the ps3.
You kind sir, need to study your vocabulary before you start going on a rant about the definition of a word.

As President of Sony Computer Entertainment, I have had many talks with EA and Bioware to bring the Mass Effect franchise to my gaming console, the Playstation 3. However, after extensive discussions with the developers, we have concluded that the Cell processer used to power the Playstation 3 is simply not powerful enough to run a game as complex as Mass Effect. I spoke with Mr. Kutaragi recently and he would like me to pass on this message to my faithful Sony followers:

"I apologize for not designing a better console for all of the dedicated Playstation fans around the world. You deserve much better than what I have provided you with. You DO realize that right at the moment, this guy is a no name in the gaming media world, right? Some guy that posted something on Twitter that we had to search to find out anything about him, and even then, he's not that well known in the gaming community and wouldn't be as in the know as those that had been privy to the conference call in question. You're insisting that we should believe every single thing that this guy says when we're saying no so fast on that one, trying to shove this down all our throats. What's the deal here? Are you one of the people who's just hoping that ME stays 360 exclusive or something? Why should we believe one or two questionable sources over top of five or six more creditable sources?

Face it, man, you're just trying really hard to get us to believe everything you say about this guy, and it's not just you saying that he's creditable, you're also going around saying that everyone else has to believe he's creditable as if he's God's gift to gaming or something. Not everyone thinks the same way about this guy, and you're just going to have to deal with it. You did nothing but to start up another fanboy war about what was "actually" said, and you searched and dug around for whatever you could find that just "proved" that ME2 would not grace the PS3. You found something and went about treating that and the guy like the damn holy grail when everyone ELSE is reporting differently.

Is there some proof in which the EA PR (the unnamed one in this guy's "twitterstream" was quoted as saying that? The masses have understood that the conference call had the word "multiplatform" in it. This guy is the absolute ONLY one (see if you can understand THAT) that is saying that the call was saying something completely different from what the more respectable websites are reporting he actually said and what he probably did mean. You really want to tell me that every single web site (which is going on at least TEN now on the N4G page that has the multiplatform story) that is reporting this is wrong, and this guy, who we've never heard about before and had to search to find out anything about him, that YOU are SO wanting us to believe that he's the most creditable and most respected journalist in the world that can never get anything wrong (akin to shoving this guy's name and his supposed "credentials" down our throats) is the absolute only one that is right about this?

You only submitted this to start another flame war about this game, and you compounded the problem by trying to shove this name down our throats. Just GREAT that you went to great lengths to try to disprove something in which would not be a determent to ANYONE if it were true (yet somehow, having ME2 on the PS3 (as well) somehow hurts everyone else's opportunity to play this game on the 360). We've spent more time and energy b!tching about this "what did he actually mean" business and worrying about the game being truly multiplatform instead of talking about the fact that we're going to be getting a sequel to a game that many people enjoyed and ended up being a damn hit. I think he read something wrong. What it probably says is the game is only for PS3. EA isn't dumb. They admitted their PS3 games sell better than everything else. So it makes perfect sense to make all of their games at least on the PS3.

This rumor seems to return at least once a month. I personally dont care whether or not this comes to PS3, but I am surprised by how many people seem to want it to come to the PS3.

For those of u that have played thru ME, I dont see how you could really play ME2 without having gone thru the first one. Its a trilogy. You could have some sort of 'recap' for newcomers, but you will still be missing out on A LOT, not to mention that you dont get to carry over your character from the first one.

As far as ME going to PS3, I seriously doubt it still, though I honestly am not rooting against it. MS published the first game, a first in the trilogy; I doubt that there aren't IP rights involved with ME.

Bioware has always released their RPG's on Xbox; KOTOR 1&2, Jade Empire, and Mass Effect are all examples. But you never know.

Hudson also states that characters from the previous game will return, provided that they were not killed.

I don't own a 360. My roommate does. I play his every once in awhile...especially Gears 2. God, I love that game!

Seriously though...we all WANT the game. The first one was great! It's just that most of the people here saying that they loved it have probably never even played it. I see Sony fans do it too...with Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, and Metal Gear Solid 4. I know because I talk to them on the PSN.

We're all the same...we're just on two sides of a ridiculous war.

I have the first Mass Effect on my PC. It would be more convenient to play it on a console though. That's why I want a PS3 version.

Where did you get that I own a 360? I think you're just grouping me in with all the fanboys that you disagree with. I'm a gamer. You should try gaming someday. It really is quite fun.

The devs have never mentioned PS3.

The rumor of a PS3 version came from the announcement of ME2 being multi platform and the media and PS3 fans ran with it. The devs only meant it was for sure coming to both of MSFT's platforms.

You mean: but why wouldn't they say its *not* coming to ps3 though?

^^They did by announcing that the rumors of ME2 going multi platform was a misunderstanding of them saying they are for sure making a PC version and a 360 version hence the Multi platform statement.

They only said "multiplatform", which could mean anything. Using that logic, it could mean that it could end up on the PC and the Wii, or the PS3 and the Wii, or the PSP and the Nintendo DS for all that could mean. But usually, multiplatform means for 360 and PS3 (at least in today's terminology). I don't know if these official people in these publishing companies have the same mindset that we do that having the game on PC and the 360 accounts to it being multiplatform.

The thing is that besides this Twitter post and Team Xbox (whoever THEY are), no one else is saying anything about THAT speculation (until Bioware says something official about what was meant by that, it's just speculation). This, to me, is just someone that was hurt by even the possibility and decided to use his "standing" (assuming he had one) to give people doubt again, and Marie really, REALLY wants you to think that he's the most creditable person in the world of gaming.

I do believe that Mass Effect 2 is PS3 bound. The rumors keep popping up because EA keeps teasing the possibility and Bioware is no better at shutting people up, and I keep thinking back to when Bioware made that one site retract how they used the word "exclusive" in that site's reporting on something about ME2. Not sure WHY they were to do that if they weren't at least thinking about being multiplatform. And again, like people said, this IS EA we're talking about, and also remember that EA seems to have some sort of love fest for the PS3 right now (remember them saying they want to get back on the PS3 owner's good side?).

Er...doesn't that imply that these games wouldn't turn out as well on the PS3? Doesn't this imply that BioWare isn't familiar enough with the PS3 architecture and has opted not to make the effort? It's easy to say that Muzyka is simply siding with Microsoft (perhaps for obvious reasons), but there may be more to the aforementioned comment. We don't want to compare BioWare to Valve, but you have to admit that both developers have been in Microsoft's pocket since the original Xbox arrived. Or at least, that's how it appears.

After EA acquired BioWare, the future of Mass Effect was uncertain and once Microsoft confirmed it no longer owns the publishing rights of the series, every Mass Effect fan thought they will eventually see the game on the PlayStation 3. Well, that won't be the case.

Speaking to CVG, BioWare senior manager Matt Atwood revealed that the sequel will definitely be an Xbox 360 exclusive and, like the first game, it may eventually be released on PC.

"I believe we'll be Xbox 360 exclusive for at least a short period of time," Atwood told CVG. Then he added: "I think you'll see a PC version not too far away."

Ok, let me try to understand this, if a publisher announces a game for PC and Xbox 360 the game is xbox exclusive even though the it's also coming to PC. Also if a publisher announces "Our next game is miltiplaform" it means it's coming for Xbox and PC only. So in order to know if game is to be release on the PS3 publishers have to say "and also for the ps3" or "our game is for PC/Xbox/PS3" insted of just "miltiplaform"

So if Bioware announces their doing a PS3 exclusive game. Then all of a sudden they announce it's multiplatform. That must mean = PS3 & PC amirite?

So here are the rules folks. If you missed them.

1.Multiplatform = 360 & PC

2.Exclusive(s) = Can be on multiple platform(s). Then No.1 doesn't apply, and a 360 (multiplatform) title conviently becomes a console exclusive title.

3.The PS3 has it's own catagories. The above rules ^ Don't apply.
