The controls don't work with an action game, damn I really wanted to like this game, I was hoping the Dualshock controller would sway me a bit more but I still can't get around to liking it.

Second, I have my 360 and my PS3 hooked to the sames screen, both on HDMI and I can confirm these kind of differences shown here.

No, the 360 version isn't darker. Whoever did these shots used a component cable...not an HDMI cable...for the PS3 version. Also, neither versions have screen-tare...thank God. The PS3 version loads just a bit quicker, but it's a demo...what does it matter?

As far as controls go, they're the same, except for the DS3's d-pad...which we both preferred...and the 360's analog sticks...which we would have both preferred...had he not played the rubber off them...haha. (That sounds dirty, doesn't it?)

The PS3 version has a longer view distance, however.

Both versions looked near-identical in character and landscape detail. Sometimes, one looked slightly better...sometimes, the other one did. We both say they're exactly the same.

The cutscenes are also indistinguishable.

the ps3 version and 360 version screenshots although close to each other are not taken in the same area, some shots are a step closer for one than the other or taken at a different time even the chainsaw pick cutscene is froma different moment one when the saw is running and one when it isnt

I don't need glasses to see that the picture with that ugly ass dudes face on the Ps3 version had no veins or detail while on the 360 his veins and detail were present to the fullest.

Of course it will be sharper, it was most likely made natively on the 360 then ported to the ps3. If they made the game engine and everything else ground up on the ps3, the graphics would be wayyy better, and thats a fact.

NO ONE will notice these differences while playing unless you have a 100 foot tv. The thing that really matters is gameplay... and so far.. its not looking so great.

all i know (and care) is that i am playing the RE5 demo on my PS3 in 720p and it looks fvcking awesome... i don't care what the other version looks like, i doubt i'd be able to tell the difference anyway

You can definitely tell the 360 version is heavily compressed,hopefully Capcom fix the problem before launch.

To me, the comparison shows the 360 has sharper textures, but look at the screenshot from the 360, looking at the big leaves, then tell me there's no such thing as too sharp.

Though that is the only shot where i think the ps3 has the edge

True gamers care about the gameplay overall the graphics. I wasn't satisfied with the gameplay, who really stops to shoot their enemy why can't he run and shoot? Dead Space is one of the most perfect examples how the game should be played. It's similar to resident evil in the survival horror genre. However I can understand with the no run and gunning but this just makes it horrible to run with. I think this game will be a rent for me unless they patch it.

360 version looks better, no surprise there. This is Capcom afterall.

sorry im doing a graphics course and the ps3 versions have had a blur effect added on it. im not trying to stick up for the ps3 version or that i have both a ps3 and a xbox 360 and plan on geting the 360 version (so i can beat my friends on achivments!!!)

Well personally I'll just download both demo's because these screenshots are superold, I saw them ages ago before the demo's were released.

I'll probably pick up the ps3 version because the 360 demo feels awkward the game was not ment for that controller, The game was made for the gamecube and the controls were perfected for the Dualshock 2 and carry over to the dualshock 3

This comparison is using the old Demos, and yes, the X360 demo looked better at that point, in the final version I don't know it this difference will remain... and... I don't care, I just HATED the demo, it was for me one of the most horrible demos to play, I know the name "Resident Evil" is very powerfull to many, but I wasn't impressed at all, the only good thing about the demo is the girl.

I trully hope for the RE fans that the final version has some MAJOR improvments, but even so I just don't like the overall feeling of the game.

Who cares!!! what version looks slightly better. Wow on the PS3 the one hair on the head of the zombie looks better or OMG the fabric on the Xbox 360 is far more superior. I played both Demos and they look identical when you are playing the game. All this does is feed fanboys on to say which console is better. The better question is if you like the game or not. If you like the game then buy it and if you don't then don't get it and if you must pick which version to get, get the game that fits you better have it controller or friends getting it for Co-op. Besides that these little tiny differences isn't even worth the pixels these screens are on.

i played the demo on my PS3 and the 360, they look the same, on those pics PS3 looks blury because the game has motion blur effect on the PS3, i have right now on my LCD TV and it look exactly as the 360.

Looks sharper on the 360, details are clearer, likely for most part multi's are probably easier to fine tune on the 360. so the two will be comparable but i think the 360 is more multi friendly.

(if the demo is representative of the final product, which is usually the case). i dont get it. take Skate 2 for example, what in the WORLD is wrong with the framerate in the ps3 version? absolutely horrendous at times, and we were promised 60fps...

ohh well if i want my mind blown by incredible graphics, there are always the exclusive games :) i can forgive worse AA/framerate/whatever on multiplats, but ONLY because exclusives look so good.

well said spike47, I just finish downloading the demo on my ps3 and the look exactly the same. This fanboyism is getting out hand. is it me or is are the controls/camera for RE4 easier to get used to. I found myself fighting with the camera trying to get it straight since Chris now strafes.

you'd be BLIND not to see that the 360 version looks better. i don't know if that's because of anti-aliasing or what, but all I know is that it looks much sharper whereas the PS3 version loses a lot of detail to blurriness. with other cross-console games, I couldn't really tell the difference, but this is so clear to me. If you argue this from these pictures, you lose all credibility as a non-fanboy.

now will the small difference really matter in the end? probably not. just depends on your console preference.

and i can't wait for this game, 4 was one of the best games ever, and the demo was so fun (especially online). i can see how some people would see it as more of the same, but I'm looking forward to that, the graphics are mind blowing.

what would be really sweet would be if the wii had this kind of graphics so I could play with a wii mote. the wii version of RE4 was excellent, some of the best wii controls in a game IMHO.

If there is one thing I have to say is that looking at stills versus looking at the game in motion are two totally different things. Now we can see subtle differences in the pics, but when your actively being chased by a hoard of angry Africans and a chainsaw wielding maniac, subtly goes out the window and you wont notice.

I played the demo for 5 min then got bored. I careless if this is a xbox360 exclusive.

I don't really like picture comparisons, but the 360 looks a little better because of the texture and lighting, and the ps3 version looks a little bland like it's soft instead of sharp, and good shots to prove that is when you look at the first pic of the guys face, you look at the guys finger when he's talking through the megaphone, and look at walls and chris's hair, but those are small details you can fix by sharpening your tv, no one gives a crap about that anyway, so just enjoy it, it's re5 people.

The 360 version looks better. Textures look sharper, but I could careless. I have a PS3 only and I don't care if the graphics aren't as sharp as the 360. I don't think I would notice when I'm trying to run away from those infected enemies.

This is one oversight on the ps3 hardware that should have been fixed. I am so sick of the blur filter, the non AA, and whatever else that needs to be done not being done or implemented properly. Luckily, I don't buy that many games. This is supposed to be next gen hardware. That I have to wait for the PS4 to get 16xAA is ridiculous. Every multiplat game I look at there is just this large blur that makes me look to the PC and go, yeah, I'll play that in 4 years on my PC when I get it.

There is a difference in 720P and 1080P.

Not sure if the PS3 version is coming out with the 1080P one, but I have noticed a lot of the games on it are 720P.

i just finished downloading the PS3 version, it took me almost 4 hours, but none the less it's finish downloading!! now as far as the graphics go, these game are 100 percent IDENTICLE!! I tried to fine something to give the 360 the edge but I just couldnt find it. I know many of you say DMC4 look the same or better on the PS3 an that was just BULL, the 360 version of DMC4 looked better, but.... as far as RE5 goes, I cant tell the differance between the two!! GOOD JOB CAPCOM!! an thats the honest truth, an I prefer my 360 over my PS3 but I give credit where credit is due, an this is a good looking game on both systems!! i just finished playing the demo, and what can i say? it's Resident Evil 4 with amazing graphics and Chris instead of queermo Leon (i DO like Leon, by the way, i just think he's a ponce).

the controls are what i expected, with some slight improvements (i like being able to quick switch between weapons).

i don't understand why people are hating on it though. we've been told it's the same game as Resident Evil 4, and that's what we got.

it doesn't seem any less Survival Horror than RE4 was, and if you like OLD RE, well, there are at least FOUR games that play EXACTLY THE SAME (RE 1-4, and Code Veronica).

i made my peace with the fact that the Resident Evil series has taken a more action oriented. i played it with my roommate also, and it's surprisingly enjoyable as a co-op game.

gamers this generation seem to have gotten to the point where they can't enjoy ANY game for what it is.

you know what it reminds me of? the elitist attitude that film critics have towards movies. the greet every film they see with pre-conceived notions about what it should be, then snort in derision when it's not what they themselves ASSUMED it would be, and somehow fault the film makers for not making the movie to their specific standards.

Capcom never said RE5 would be a revolution of the series. i think they even outright stated that they were simply refining what RE4 established so successfully: a fresh take on a series that was getting stale.

i like the new direction Resident Evil has taken since part 4, and as long as the game is scary (and it IS, in a "holy crap, we're terribly outnumbered and have limited ammo sense), then it succeeds for me as a "Survival Horror" game.

there are different types of the same genre, you know. in film, there are Comedies, Black Comedies, Romantic Comedies, Dramadies, and so on, so why can't the Survival Horror genre branch out and have varying levels of "Survival Horror?"

and in being one of the earliest Survival Horror titles along with Alone in the Dark, why can't Resident Evil be free to change its formula when it needs to?

Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, and the original Resident Evils are what you would consider traditional Survival Horror titles. Resident Evil 4 and 5, Dead Space, others like it fall into the new "Action Horror" branch of the Survival Horror family, but they are STILL in that family.

i played both demo's simultaniously (where both demo's we're running on the same tv, 360 was using component and ps3 using hdmi) i really can't tell the difference. makes me wonder what they use for these comparisons. if u really care about minor graphical differences i recommend playing the game for yourself on both consoles rather than going off someone else's comparison

From my PC screen one of the versions does look slightly better than the other, but I doubt it will make any difference during gameplay.

My main worry with this game is lack of save points, and why the hell don't all games let you save whenever you like anyway! It was understandable with PS1/Saturn tech., but that was two gens. back?!?

The Halo games have done a pretty good job with spacing of check points, but even Halo on Legendary pissed me off when having to repeat stuff before getting to the difficult part.

After two years on the market I have to say that I am disappointed at the ps3 multiplat results.

I downloaded both versions and by all means, the Xbox 360 version is the better version. If you only own a Playstation 3, it's not as though you'd know the differences.

Looks like the PS3 screens are missing Full Range RGB. They should post the PS3's configs. The RGB really brings forth the details...

My PS3 isn't going to be playing this game. I just don't like that idea of a game to install, just so it wont even look as good as the 360 version. As I've said before, not even MGS4's installs are that big. And that game looks eons better than RE5. Capcom is the only company throwing out mandatory installs that are crap.

I really enjoyed the demo and playing it online with my brother. The controls felt comfortable for me BUT I hated the fact that you can't really equip the knife as a weapon and run around with it.
