Mario Galaxy? How is SMG on this list?

Enjoyed this list a lot. Agree with a lot of the choices like Actraiser, Little Nemo, and Xenogears. Don't see those games on these lists too often. Also, Duck Tales for the NES rocked!

With some I agree, but with most I disagree. In my opinion this list sucks. I mean there some games that rae there that deserve to be, but still the rest sucks.

WFT is Duck Tales and Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers doing on this list?

It might have been wise to wait to do this article until after March. There are three big games out there that could make this list if they had waited.

This list is awful. There's only one first person shooter on the list, and it's DOOM? Give me a break. The only game on this list that had any kind of a real multiplayer experience is Gears of War. It's like they completely ignored the fact that FPS games and multiplayer games are the most popular genres in gaming today, and as such should be better represented on their list, both in terms of games pioneering those aspects of gaming, and games that are truly the BEST at that. DOOM is a classic FPS, but is it really the BEST FPS? Give me a break. This list is very short-sighted, in my opinion.

FPS games aren't my online complaint by a long shot, but they were the most immediately noticeable absence from the list for me. The inclusion of a game like Madden 2004 is just crazy. If you're going to talk about pioneers, what about NFL 2k on the Dreamcast? What about NFL 2k1 which was the first football game with online play? What about just including the BEST football game, rather than one which was a pioneer at things but are currently done better?

And the inclusion of Oregon Trail is ridiculous. Clearly some child of the 90's with too much reliance on nostalgia, because if you actually compare that game, it's quality, it's features, it's fun factor, to others, you'll find hundreds of games that are more fun, more educational, more innovative, etc. The only reason anybody got obsessed with Oregon Trail to begin with is because it was one of the few games they had access to, like school children in computer class, with that game as the only game on the computer.

The top 20 aren't the worst I've seen, there's some games there that I would put, but this list is all out of whack in my opinion.

This list sucked, no leisure suit larry on this list?? and metroid prime at 83?? What the hell?

This kind of list is always very controversial since, first, it remains on personal tastes, and everyone don't have to have the same tastes, and then because there are so much good games that we cannot enumerate them all.

For that list specifically, the absence of Genesis, PSone, PS2 and PS3 games clearly shows that person had only NES, SNES, PC and Xbox 360 gaming platform.

Games like Metal Gear Solid series, Okami, Shadow Of The Colossus, Ico, Team Buddies, Incredible Crisis, Bioshock, Castlevania Symphony Of The Night, Silent Hill series, etc... should be in that list, no matter in which position.

So as always, i suggest people to read the article for informations but not for debating on the legitimacy of each of these games in that list. It's only a matter of personal choice.

Is it just me, or is this arcticle SUPREMELY BIASED towards the NES and the SNES?

Have all of you failed to realise that the force unleashed is on this list?? That alone makes this list a fail. Too many old generation games that weren't classics and too many absentees. Would like to see a more current gen website do list of top games

Streets of Rage 2 classic, i love this line "Playing Final Fantasy 2 will make you nostalgic for the golden age of RPGs, when better stories were more important than better graphics."

This list is littered with really fun games that aren't really worthy of being considered one of the 100 best games. Fun games just not top 100 material and it goes all the way into the top 20.

Also LTTP at #1? I mean it might be the best Zelda but the dungeons are easily, on average, the worst in the series. It's definitely top 20 but I think it's lapses in quality should keep it from the top spot.

Also Twilight Princess (a game I wouldn't put in the top 100) is on the list twice.

None of the MGS games, no Gran Turismo, God of war, WipEout, R&C and no GTA?

How could they miss Snatcher? Snatcher has the best video game story, INCREDIBLE voice-overs and music, fantastic graphics, and very rewarding experience after playing it. These people should not even do a 100 list. Since they are Nintendo fanboys. I know they are, since they hate Sonic and a lot of other games from Sega.

I'm having a really hard time agreeing with this list.

The Gears of War picture had me worried for a second, was thinking to myself 'surely no one can rate Gears of War as the best game ever....'

Great list except Sonic adventure 1&2, god of war 1&2, metal gear solid 2,3,4,shadow of colossus, but everyone has there tastes I guess.

Relax gamers, this persons list is basically that, just this persons list of 100 greatest games for him. While I have some games I would add to my list, but then we are talking about my favorite list. That doesn't make his list suck, just different taste.

For me it was all about remembering the days when gaming was less competition and more fun. A lot of great games were mentioned. I loved Illusion of Gaia, my first RPG and my second game for the SNES. I got my SNES just for Donkey Kong Country, that game was just too good to not buy. I gave my Sega Genenis to my brother so my mother would let me buy the SNES. Chrono Trigger was great also. A link to the past was another game that got me more involved in RPGs. Other great games I remember at that time are Final Fight, Mortal Kombat 1 and 3, Virtual Fighter, Killer Instinc, Silent Hill 2, Earth Worm Jim, Ocarine of Time, Golden Eye.

There were also some games for the NES that I cant remember their names. Anyone remember a game about tanks that you could play co-op and you could get different fire weapons and throw grenades, btw who can forget Super Contra, and that hockey game were you made your players either short, fat, or tall and skinny. Mario Part was fun to play with your friends.

The thing is you cant just name 100 since there are more than 100 great games we could list just that we would each list them differently.

I saw the numbers 10-6 and didn't bother with their "top 5" because Old Wizard pride themselves with not being part of "the opiniated crowd.' of course if it is regarded as great, of course old wizard will want to stand out and say it is not. I read previous comments that ocarina wasn't even on the list, and why would it be, it's only regarded as the best, as is final fantasy VII which I could bet is not top thirty (if even on the list). Old Wizard are hacks who are oblivious as to how to even stand out. Thinking that they should go against popular opinion means that they are unique only makes their lists even more stupid.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
