How the PS3 makes a comeback

Despite gloomy holiday sales and a less than stellar year, there is still plenty of time for Sony's PS3 to shine. Gen Digi gives reasons how the PS3 can take back the market share in a very short amount of time and how the PS3 is still very much in it for the win.

boodybandit6317d ago (Edited 6317d ago )

I didn't know it went any where.

No offense intended to people of faith but titles like this remind me of "I found Jesus" Really? I didn't know he was lost.

Seriously though. I can't be the only one on N4G that simply rolls my eyes over articles like this? I just enjoy gaming. I don't own stock in any of the console manufacturers. Could care less what game rates higher or sells more over the other. Hell my favorite game right now is BF:BC (I have played them all) and how average did that game sell and rate? I just love the chaos of full on warfare of BF (vehicles, mortar / artillery strikes, different classes, etc..)

Why people get caught up in articles like this I will never understand.

boodybandit is my XBL and PSN gamertag if you guys want to game online. I would get a kick out of gaming with fellow N4G members.

the1truelegend6317d ago

I think people should care. How much of a gamer would you be if Microsoft was the only console on the Market (Monopoly) and they charged whatever they wanted, gave you sub par games (no competition from other consoles) and ran the industry into the ground? Don't say it can't happen cause Sega had been making quality consoles and games for a long time then...gone!

Ratchet_Co6317d ago

Agreed, dang hasn't it only been like 3 years? There's probably going to be 7 more years in this console gen and I too don't believe Sony needs saving. Sony is doing good at the moment. This is basically like last gen.

thebudgetgamer6317d ago

the only thing the ps3 needs is price adjustment. all other arguments are stupid.

:)

Kushan6316d ago

Don't be naive, there's not been a single console ever released that's "perfect", there's a whole list of things that could be "done better" on them all and the PS3 is no exception.
A price drop is definitely what it needs the most right now, but it could also do with a couple more high-profile games (Killzone 2 is a great start, but we're a fickle crowd, come April we'll be wanting more and after Uncharted 2, we'll be wanting more again), PS2 compatibility across all models, maybe increased playback support and so on.

GiantEnemyCrab6316d ago (Edited 6316d ago )

I saw that! I am excited to see and hear more about it. Not into Guitar Hero but DJ Hero sounds more for me. I just hope it's not filled with nothing but Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B and Urban Club music. It's not that I don't like the music it's just I want to see some electronic music heavily represented as well.

Harry1906316d ago

At the time, there were no articles about the announcement and I thought this one would hit front page sooner than it did.

I am a Guitar Hero/Rock Band convert and I am also looking forward to DJ Hero. Have to check the price range. If it's around $150, then I'm sold.

iHEARTboobs6317d ago

I been here for years
Rockin my peers and puttin suckas in fear
Makin the tears rain down like a MON-soon
Listen to the bass go BOOM
Explosion, overpowerin
Over the competition, I'm towerin"

haha, i had to.

Anyhow, Sony, just keep the games coming and you'll keep new buyers coming.

this generation will be defined by the biased media and the infamous RROD

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle19d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde26d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga27d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199227d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga27d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box28d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion27d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7227d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7527d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit27d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14927d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7727d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
