These people DON'T KNOW what they are talking about. I can't put it any other way.

These type of articles would be ok if it was written by fans like you and I, but journalists? Aren't they supposed to provide us with arguments that require insights and perspectives that you and I don't have? At the least, aren't they supposed to provide us with perspectives of the current situation between the two companies, Sony and Microsoft, that are on our level?

I feel I have a better grasp of the current situation between the two companies than these so-called journalists. I mean these articles are NONSENSE and PATHETIC!! Their arguments are almost always horrible.

Keep showing sony your support with your money guys and the media will finnaly figure out that the ps3 will bring in more money than ps2 and the wii because for the first time ever for playstAtion, gamers arent only buying games and going online like with the ps2. we are buying subcriptions to qore, psn exclusives, dlc, home content, rebuying ps1 classics and keeping our psp`s happy with psn downloads. we are as hardcore as they come and we kicked major a$$ for bluray as well with record shattering sales. showing your support to a company that hubly offers its generousity with free online and constant updates is good and earns your spot in gamer heaven. our games have legs ans rivals 3rd party developers. we are the upper class of gaming society and the beggers cant be choosers. the media has always been a tool you use. i say, use them like tissues. wipe and throw away. we are the best of the very best. continue to show your support and use the sonyblog because this playstation has ears and its listening. Bro, I hear ya. Who cares who made it, what platform it's on or what IGN rated the graphics. I play games for the experience. I love good storys, graphics, controls and overall concept. Who fliggin gives a rats ass if its a 360 or PS3 exclusive. Or which one is better than the other? I've had some seriously good tail in my younger years and I sure as shat didn't sit around and not get some because the other had a new nVIDIA card installed and now offered high resolution. What do you kids say today? "Drop it like it's hot"?

Even with the PS 3 price being twice as high compared to the xbox360, Sony did reasonably well in 2008 , allmost same numbers sold in Europe. The differences are minimal, even in the U.S. and in Japan, the PS 3 is doing much better and with the amazing line up 2009, starting with Killzone 2 is completely fine, another bore Article..

Wow, the ps3 sales are increasing! Now Killzone 2 will be good, because after all if ps3 sales were lower Killzone 2 and other exclusives would instantly melt into piles of crap.

Who cares about sales? Just enjoy buying and playing games on any console and the sales will take care of themselves.

Seriously, these articles make it seem as if a console selling badly translates into a bad console or bad games, where low sales somehow affect your enjoyment of your console. I honestly don't care how well any console sells, I care about enjoying the great games on each. I seriously doubt that sales statistics of any console will affect the quality of God of War III or Alan Wake. The developers don't stare at charts and say 'oh no, sales have dropped off for the console our nearly finished game is on. I guess we should cut out everything good then because a low selling console shouldn't be allowed to have good games anymore'

After all, the only people who look at console sales charts are the people who already own a console, so what difference does it make to them?

You're right my friend. I do agree with your point. Unfortunately, in the real world, the evil Media controls the minds of those who can't think for themselves. If the Media says "Sony is losing the console war" then millions of people who are not "True self thinking gamers" will get it into their heads that "Sony bad so I no buy". That's the way it works. My example...As soon as all the great reviews of Killzone 2 (Especially IGN's review) came out, Killzone 2 jumped to the #1 spot on Amazon. For everyone who says "Sales numbers aren't important" then why are so many people hung up on "Review numbers"? Why is there so much crying about review scores? They're not even real numbers, they're opinions.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

It’s always interesting to hear behind-the-scenes stories like this, especially involving veterans like Shuhei Yoshida and leadership figures like Jim Ryan. That said, there are usually multiple sides to decisions at that level. It could be less about not “listening” and more about differences in long-term vision for PlayStation. Yoshida played a huge role in shaping the brand, so whatever the reason, his impact is undeniable.

If true, and I'm inclined to believe it is, it goes to show that Sony lost their way when they became more western/didn't respect the PlayStation origin story. Andrew House and Jack Tretton did great work, but they also didn't try to fundamentally change the PlayStation DNA. Ryan oversaw the death of Japan Studio and a live service direction.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.

There's another guy who recently "retired" as CEO of another large gaming company, after doing a dismantling job as lead for well over a decade.

seems legit, the business man, fires the one who has ideas to move the business forward.

Jim Ryan is the reason why we are entering year 6 since the PS5 launch and many of us don't feel like the PS5 has gotten started as yet.

I hope going forward, we will see a return to form.
