Fable launches this fall for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC

Fable will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store this fall, publisher Xbox Game Studios and developer Playground Games announced. The PlayStation 5 version is newly announced. It will also be available via Game Pass.

Ok, I am impressed! But I hope the framerate issue is just because of the YouTube video only.

LiViNgLeGaCY127d ago

It wasn't. It was the game. No other game during the direct had this issue.

Reaper22_127d ago

Nah, there were no framerate issues.

GamerRN126d ago

It was definitely a 30fps game

LiViNgLeGaCY126d ago

Reaper- Uh, yes there were. Many people who streamed the show were talking about it.

Cacabunga126d ago

Might be my first Fable game. Looks cool and intriguing

It looks like it supports both 30 and 60fps for quality and performance modes.

Reaper22_126d ago

It most likely will and its also not finished yet so people need to take a chill pill.

SubtilizZer126d ago (Edited 126d ago )

I remember Fable having this slowdown when you hit enemies I’m not entirely sure it’s not intentional.
Edit: I did see a big drop during the chicken kick which I’m sure isn’t intentional.

darthv72126d ago

Well... who wouldnt want to see the slow mo reaction of a kicked chicken? Its funny.

thorstein127d ago

Been trying to post this for hours.

I'm so stoked for this. I've been a Fable fan for years.

PS5 releasing day and date? This ain't a 20 year old game too which many of the in-denials would say.

It’s another one of “those” accounts. Pay it no mind!

Yeah just flag it with the spam button

Reaper22_126d ago

Im glad it does release day and date. Ps5 gamers will have to pay full price for it and gamepass subscribers wont. Thats what so cool about it. Im going to be purchasing this one like all their other games. A win for xbox and ps gamers and the studio. Its all good.

Profchaos121d ago

Most people are probably better off just buying the game and not getting price gouged or hit with random 50 percent price hikes

Lightning77126d ago

Hardly any xbox guys are in denial now. They started this 2 years ago so they know what to expect going forward.

At this point I see NO reason for Microsoft to release another console. Horizon, halo, gears, flight sim, now fable… Is it going to be the only place you can play Ori? Is that the tagline? I was jokes at first, but more it really is the end of an era. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were working on a gamespass version for PS. Xbox is gone as far as a system goes, but Microsoft games will live on through windows OS running systems and Sony/Nintendo hardware.

Edit** Of course I criticized Microsoft before, same as other companies when need be, but I never wanted them GONE. Crazy. Hell of a timeline we are in.

Chocoburger127d ago

Both Ori games are on Switch, so a different tagline would be needed. Perhaps the only place where you can play Halo 5: Guardians much criticized campaign? Or maybe the over-promised and under-delivered Crackdown 3?

Reaper22_126d ago

Yea they missed the mark and stumbled a bit but Halo is still very popular and we haven't seen the last of that series. Microsoft aren't the only ones who missed the mark though. If you look hard enough enough you can find duds from all publishers so lets not not go there. None of them are perfect. Everyone falls but its how you get up that matters. Microsoft and xbox are not going anywhere for a while and business is good for them. You cant die when you're always the topic of conversation.

Reaper22_127d ago (Edited 127d ago )

They arent gone and it sure as hell doesnt look like they arent going anywhere anytime soon. If you haven't noticed these game are coming to xbox as well. They arent gonna stop making games for their fanbase just because they didnt outsell playstation 5. That would be counter productive. They still have millions of xbox consoles out there and just released a handheld, and no matter what happens, some people(like me) still prefer to play games on xbox. And they still have gamepass which is still flourishing. A next gen xbox is also coming so get ready. People may not want to admit it but sony is doing the same thing. More and more of their games are going multiplatform as well. Xbox gamers will be able to play Playstation games next gen without a Playstation. They're strategy is paying off. So go ahead and buy those games because that's whatthey want. I don't think they care which console you own. People can try and change the narrative as much as they want but they are gonna stick around for a while and Playstation owners dollars are helping make that happen.Perhaps sony needs tp rethink their strategies because console sales are good but we all know the games and services are what matters the most because of the and steady flow of money coming in, and right now they are losing that battle to the underdog.✌️

And yes, Fable looks awesome so far. Playground games is doing what a lot of people said couldn't be done. Props to Microsoft for making this happen.

BehindTheRows126d ago

You really need to go outside more. PlayStation as a brand is doing the best it ever has, Xbox is not. That “device” is going to be a PC next gen, regardless of what “name” they slap on the box. PS6, on the other hand, will be a traditional console.

Just accept that your favorite box lost and will be pivoting instead of trying to pretzel your way into complete foolishness.

starsi360127d ago

Why does it need to be the only place to play xyz to have a place in the market? Nobody used to say "Sony have no reason to make a new blu-ray player, you can play all the same discs on a Panasonic!"

I like the xbox interface, controller - and maybe that is just because I am so used to it over years of use - the hardware is just a means to an end, and it's good to have options of which to buy. If in 2 years time we can play any game on any platform then great! Less focus on the plastic box of chips and more on the quality of games as companies compete to sell us the best software.

SubtilizZer126d ago

Microsoft has simply realized they are and will always be software first. It makes more sense for them to release everywhere and move to multi platform. They’re a software company. I’ve joked in the past about it “oh no, the software company wants to sell… that can’t be right… *checks notes* software.” Idk bro exclusives have always been lame to me so I happy that the era of exclusives is coming to a close.

BehindTheRows126d ago

Yeah, as far as traditional consoles, Xbox is done. Its fans here are clearly in denial and the new marching orders are suddenly “yaaaaay, no more exclusives”. Meanwhile, we know damn well they’d be singing a different tune had the Series consoles not crapped the bed and were doing big numbers! Microsoft dropped the ball, no way around that!

That said, yes, their strength is in software, better for them to capitalize on that. Leave the consoles to Nintendo and Sony.

Reaper22_126d ago (Edited 126d ago )

You're right their strength is in software. This was their plan all along. They knew they were never gonna ever out sell sony and Nintendo. They wanted to get their feet in the door to be more like Take 2, EA and other big publishers. Now they are pratically there. They have a hard-core base of 30 to 40 million cosole owners with their games on multiple platforms and a game service that's makes them billions. It seems they dont care if playstation games come to xbox as long as they go to PC. You can play your playstation games right now with their handheld and next gen you will be able to do that and much more. So playstation gamers will buy their games making them even more solid on the software side while still keeping their fanbase and not having to focus on hardware because it doesnt bring in as much money and they arent sustainable. And xbox is not done because playstion is actually helping them and its what sony wants too. There will be more ps games coming to xbox in the traditional way as well in the near future and sony knows that's its inevitable. They need more software and money and they dont care where it comes from just like Microsoft wants more money and doesnt care where that comes from.

BehindTheRows126d ago (Edited 126d ago )

@Reaper22_

No, this was NOT their plan all along. They had to pivot because their original plans failed. They are not playing some 4D chess here. They lost tremendously and realize their only recourse is to put their properties on PlayStation. You need to accept that.

Smellsforfree126d ago

I've already boxed up my Series X and put it in the closet with my other old consoles. I'll hold onto it incase I get an itch to play DOA Ultimate or something unique like that but otherwise I'm just planning to buy games for PS and PC going forward. Microsoft killed XBox as far as I'm concerned.

Are Xbox and Playground making the right move sticking so closely to Fable's history?

Fable's long-awaited reboot marks Forza Horizon studio Playground Games' first foray into the action-RPG genre. And while it's officially a "new beginning" for original developer Lionhead's beloved series, it still centred on Albion - a whimsical fantasy world of brave adventurers, exotic British accents, and the kinds of magical creatures who'd rather kill you than spend any time getting to know you at all. But unlike earlier games in the series, Albion is this time a proper, seamless open-world.

There is nothing wrong with sticking with Albion or Fables history.

Andy_Dee122d ago

It's a great call!

To build upon instead. Otherwise there is no need to do a Fable game..
