Shame its keycard slop ffs, otherwise I would have grabbed it

repsahj111d ago

There are so many triple A games on the PS5 that come on physical discs with empty data inside, just like game key cards. That hasn't been a problem for us, right?

merlox110d ago

I don’t have an issue with key cards. I have a few games on PS5 that are like that. But, we all know that Nintendo Fanboys have to be different. The need to get used to it just like the rest of gamers had to.

biwabes111d ago

Pretty much the only company putting blank disks on PlayStation is Microsoft, you can play all 3 PS5 FF games from disk without connecting to the internet.

And I'd like to point out that PlayStation had game sharing and a friends and family system for generations.

PlayStation allows both the ability to stream your games to anyone, as well as a friends and family system which is so user friendly that it allows two people on different consoles to play the same online games at the same time with a single license.

I've carried the physical torch as far I can take it. I prefer physical and will still buy if there is a good deal, but I have my doubts that PS6 will even have an optical drive as an option. Nintendo will take longer...but the writing is on the wall, I'm afraid.

I"m not saying I support it, I'm just saying that practically speaking there will more likely than not be a point where the next systems will be backwards compatible but only with your digitally purchased games, not physical.

CrimsonWing69110d ago

You’d miss out on a game because it’s not fully on a cartridge? How big is FF7 Remake and what’s the capacity of the Switch 2 cartridges?

repsahj110d ago

This! If you put this game on a physical cart, it will cost $100+ for having 2 express cards. Hahaha.

thats on nintendo tho. not square.

when this game released on the PS4 and XBO it "targeted" 30fps.. meaning it didn't even hit it locked. And that wasn't even the intergrade edition.

You can absolutely play this at 30fps. And you will be just fine.

Eonjay110d ago

Nah not me. When Rebirth came out I was disappointed with the graphics at 60 FPS and I couldn't get used to 30. I waited till the Pro came out and the 60FPS was upgraded. Practically all games on PS5 support a performance 60 FPS mode.

I really wonder what Rockstar is gonna do for GTA 6. Will the be able to achieve 60 on base consoles. Honestly if it turns out that you can only play it that way on PRO I can see a lot of people upgrading. If no console reaches 60, that would be terrible.

Neonridr110d ago

@Eonjay - we survived sub 30fps for generations, that was my point. A locked 30 with even better visuals than what we had on the PS4 is still a great experience.

We still get 30fps modes for the PS5 Pro in quality modes a lot of the time. Games still play just fine.

Exthun110d ago

It's a new hardware, no excuses to run old games at higher frame games. Can't hardly run Tomb Raider 2013.

Eonjay110d ago

People are often surprised how good Switch 2 looks but in reality its a mobile 3050. The card is capable of modern graphics and supports DLSS. The thing that is hindering performance is the CPU. And even then you are getting good results at 10 watts or so. That being said I am completely spoiled by 60FPS.

Neonridr110d ago

that's not a native Switch 2 version though. The devs literally took the old game and copied it over. It can hardly run Tomb Raider 2013 but it can run Cyberpunk 2077? Think about that for a second there chief.

Gamersunite880110d ago

This looks amazing. I cannot wait to play it.

gold_drake110d ago

it is indeed a miracle

it runs rather smooth but i did have alot of drops in fps in busy fights. which most of them are.

it gets especially bad when i have barrett or aerith in the party

repsahj110d ago

I still not receive my copy. So excited the play it again!

Neonridr110d ago

taken from Digital Foundry's review of the game:

Performance in docked mode is very solid. This is a 30fps-only game, but it essentially locks to 30fps during gameplay. In my capture, it's a flat 30fps line throughout, even during fast town traversal and intense combat. 30fps might not sound too appetising for modern tastes, but input response feels fine and I generally found the game perfectly acceptable. Cutscenes are an exception, as dropped frames on camera cuts are pretty common. These are hard to notice in my experience while actually playing though.

Frame-rates are also decent in handheld play, with no issues in combat or traversal that I could really see. The only exception came outside Aerith's house, where a pan reveals juddery, lower frame-rate camera travel. Final Fantasy seems to be dropping frames here without the benefit of VRR with low frame-rate compensation, and is presumably GPU-limited while rendering this view of the environment. This may not be the only area with performance problems, but I do think that any frame-rate drops are rare and isolated, because my usual stress tests don't cause its frame-rate to waver.

Currently 88% score on Metacritic (PS5=89%; PC=86%; Series X/S=TBA)

UK Charts: Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Plummets As Familiar Faces Retake The Podium

Nintendo Life: "We are back with another look at the UK physical gaming charts, and if you were expecting to see last week's surprise silver medallist towards the top of the pile again, you're sadly mistaken.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has dropped rather substantially from its second-place debut, and now finds itself way down at 17th — just one place behind Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, which has made a surprise rebound this week, we might add."

Nice to see Ghost of Yotei back in the top 10. Code Vein II enters at nr. 9.

Neonridr99d ago

A lot of Nintendo on that list.

repsahj97d ago (Edited 97d ago )

Glad to see the Metroid Prime 4 sales spike from #29 to #16. And Ghost of Yotei too.

PRIMORDUS96d ago

I will not play Final Fantasy VII again, because it should have never been separated into 3 parts to begin with. It should have been one game, no matter how long it takes to make.

I played this 100% on PS4, PS5, and Steam. I’m going for the 1000/1000 and I love this game so much. I’m not bored with it and the last bit was so epic. I agree, it’s a 10/10 for me. Having a blast going through it for another time.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Review | NoobFeed

Zahra from NoobFeed writes: Final Fantasy VII REMAKE INTERGRADE works because it knows how to be careful. The story is told in depth within a single part instead of all at once. Each method helps the characters get better, the plots get more interesting, and the people stay involved. It doesn't feel like too much; it feels planned.

I am excited to know what it sold in its first month.

Tapani102d ago

I thought it was pretty, but mediocre in its storytelling, plot, gameplay and music. I liked the original game much, much more. No fluff, just pure awesome gameplay and a fast-paced story, and a better gameplay loop and system, and the music was better as well, not to mention the overall atmosphere.
