This won't age well, Nintendo had a really strong launch but since then the Switch 2 has had really middling sales. Five year old PS5 outsold Switch 2 2:1 in November and I'm sure December will show a similar trend.

It really shows the market demand still favors PlayStation by a wide margin. And what we have seen is that basically across the board Nintendo is not able to pull the sales/MTX of multiplatform games from PlayStation which is where the money is really at in the console space.

The first two months do not define a consoles lifetime.

Sadly, this article is what the clickbait media seems to have switched too now that they can't make this about Microsoft anymore. If it can't be Microsoft vs Sony then they'll make it Nintendo vs Sony even though the two companies both seem to prefer to be seen in different spaces and not competitive.

And I still haven't bought one Switch 2 game since I had the console in July. I just bought a few used Switch 1 games off ebay. I will buy Metroid Prime 4 used once the price drops some more, physical copy only. I'm just not feeling Nintendo anymore like I used to.

Switch 2 is the first Nintendo console I haven’t bought day 1 in 20 years. I’m not paying £70 for games, it really is that simple. I say this as someone with a cupboard full of maybe 40 switch games.

It's a funny business the gaming industry. If the likes of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo listened to gamers (the consumer), there wouldn't be as much flack. Console tech is moving too fast and gamers can't keep up with the cost. The Switch 2 is apparently up there with PS4 and Xbox One tech, the PS5 and Xbox Series X have enough power for the next 5 years or more. Why doesn't Sony and Microsoft follow Nintendo and release a hybrid console? But with that, the price of games these days, download only, it's a big no from me. Game sales the lowest in gaming history, this needs to change this gen and next gen especially.

Well if you narrowly define 1st party exclusives as the sole metric then I suppose Nintendo did win the "console wars". But that has always been the case, Nintendo consoles rely heavily on first party output around their core related ip to sell their hardware. Playstation platform has always been defined by their excellent 3rd party support (so much so even xbox has started releasing their games on the Playstation store), their high quality industry leading exclusives only really became a thing in the ps4 generation . But from a numbers prospective Playstation sells the most consoles/games (3rd and 1st party), makes the most revenue and as of recenand makes more profit. The numbers dont lie. Nintendo because if their weak hard and customer base preferences doesn't get several of the biggest 3rd party games.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Wuchang is great. Nine Sols didn’t have a physical copy so I never played it but I’ve heard good things so I will check it out. I stopped playing sports games many years ago when before the card dlc’s or whatever they’re called.
