Bungie writes: "Since June, we’ve run several closed playtests to gather feedback on Marathon. We’re now opening applications for more players to join us for a Closed Technical Test from October 22 to October 28. This is a limited, invite-only playtest for players in North America and Europe on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. As with recent closed playtests, this test is under NDA."
A new analysis compares Marathon on PS5 and PS5 Pro, revealing visual improvements on the Pro while both versions maintain a stable 60fps.

Story Mode on why live service games can't expect to thrive on just competence, that they need something more. In the case of Marathon, "With Bungie at the helm, the same Bungie that defined not one but two generations of gaming — with Halo in 2001 and Destiny 2 in 2017 — ‘just another extraction shooter’ isn’t going to cut it.
Probably not as fast but it will eventually
It seems it will have its dedicated hardcore fanbase but as soon as the next shiny GaaS game is out they’ll move on or go back to the one they were already playing for months
The hate for this is so forced. Saw some people being triggered the game has a positive rating on steam. Marathon doesn't need very high players to be successful. It needs a consistent player base. For example, look at a game like Warframe. Within the last 3 years, the game normally gets between 50K-70K on steam a day and has only gone above 15OK 3 times in 6 years. I seriously feel like this game doing well long-term might put some very miserable gamers on suicide watch.
Gunplay is solid for this game and has been what I've been looking for in awhile. But everything else comes off as mid/nothing special to me.

Bungie has released additional information on Marathon's seasonal reward passes. Curbing the typical trend where such passes are phased out as new seasons are introduced, these will stay in the game permanently for players in a model similar to Helldivers 2 and Halo: Infinite.
I really hope they can turn this one into a win. Good luck devs
I tried. I've had my PSN account since the PS3 but the sign up states is for adults only. No way to change the Bungie profile birthday. I even used my PSN login.
Good job, bungie.
Why does it tell me closed to players under 18? All I did was click on the Playstation button to try and register. Oh well I will probably be too deep in BF6 to care anyway..lol
