Dear Valve: Please, Save Us

Shaz from PS: "From the Lenovo Legion GO 2 to the MSI Claw A8 to the ROG Xbox Ally X, prices of high-end handhelds are rising exponentially. As such, it may be time for Valve and Gabe Newell to remind everyone what a console should look (and cost) like."

Steamdeck oled 256gb cost 550$ lol now imagine cost of 2 with update parts it going cost 700-1000$

Yui_Suzumiya261d ago

You mean the 512GB OLED is $550 ($595 after tax). I own it and it's the best gaming system I've ever had. Even sold my Switch OLED and gave away my PS5 to a roommate after obtaining it because I have no need for any other gaming device as long as I have it.

Knightofelemia261d ago

Should have at least kept the PS5 in case that amazing Steamdeck up and dies. At least you would have something to game on as a spare.

UltimateOwnage261d ago

I feel the same way about my OLED Deck. I play everything on it. I have a PS5 and Switch 2 for exclusives but for the average game that’s multiplat I just buy on Steam and love it. It’s changed how I game. I’ve always got it with me when traveling for work and it doubles as a great little PC as well with Desktop mode.

The 256GB model cost $320 and you can easily find a 1tb SSD for 40 bucks cause that's exactly what I did.

repsahj261d ago

Where can I buy SD 256 for $320?

Yui_Suzumiya244d ago

OLED and QLED are the only way to go in 2025 because it's no longer 2005. LCD is a relic of the past.

People have expectations that hardware can evolve quickly but not cost more money. I think we really need to accept lower technology for more reasonable costs than the expectations that we should spend $1000+ every 2 or so years.

repsahj261d ago

Let's see if Steam Deck 2 can be released for below $600 price. XD

Inverno260d ago

Can't reply to your reply above but you can buy the 256gb model on Steam itself.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing53d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9253d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit53d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing53d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9253d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
