So 50% raise for GPU, but for the PC folks it's around 250% raise?

Funny part is I’d had kept it even though I’m mostly on PS5, but this felt like such a diarrhea dump in the mouth that instead of just switching over to the $15 tier, I cancelled outright.

Seeing the Xbox brand crash and burn brings me sooooo much joy. Every since I heard that they wanted to buy Sony out of business, I been praying for their downfall everyday.

DOA. The GP price hikes were already getting ridiculous. Anything over $20 (imo) for any streaming based service is too high in this current economy. MS has been doing alot of shady stuff as of late (i.e. killing off support for Wins 10 and trying to force people to pay for continued security updates) Satya Nadella and Phil Spencer suffering from delusions of grandeur.

MS' greed is showing no ends. People need to start taking a stand and literally start voting with their wallets (like how they did with the Disney +/Kimmel debacle).

Compared to $159 for PS Premium with more games (and no one should be buying it at full price when theres 30% discount multiple times a year). So $360 vs $110. It's at the point day one games actually aren't worth it. It's not wonder they're trying to turn it all digital then the sub seems more worth it

Yeah. I am done. I tried, but Microsoft has defeated me. Canceling gamespass. I am SOooo glad I bought hollow knight instead of just playing it on gamespass. I can cancel free of mind. Not worried about “man I’m going to have to buy the game AND start over”. I also called it a long time ago. Microsoft is going to increase tiers and hold call of duty behind a high tier as well as day one games. They are hoping you are too invested to cancel. Thank god I’m not. They did exactly what I thought they’d do.

I do like the PC only option at least, since I don't own an Xbox. But other than that, yikes. These are getting crazy expensive.

Curious for people with a gamepass library. Are you canceling? If so do you own any games? How much money have you given to not own anything? Not being a smart ass. Serious question. Of course you can say "the games I beat were the experience I paid for", and thats fair enough.

A 50% price hike, for their premier feature and one the fanboys most brag about (day 1 games) is not a good look at all.

While a price hike is always a bit of a shock, for anything, I don't get this "more games don't equal more time" thing you people keep saying, as if that applies to everyone, or like it's a golden standard...that is like saying Netflix should stop adding movies and shows because people can't watch them all lol, of course you cant, but someone might sign up to Netflix(or GP) for some specific things that gets added that wasn't there before.

Variety is key. What if someone loves Fortnite? then they get Fortnight Crew, which in itself costs $10. What if someone likes Ubisoft + classics? That alone costs another $10 separately. They are now guaranteeing 75+ day one titles, including 1st party, right? So we all know they don't release 75 1st party games a year, so now the benefit of newer, non-MS games that may interest someone is already at your disposal, no $20-$80 purchase necessary.

So now we move on to being practical. Why are we assuming that if I start 1 game this month, that will be the only game I can play in that month? I am currently alternating my time between more than one game when I sit for a session, Hollow Knight $20, Revenge of the savage planet($40), and still playing Avowed($50-60) on the weekend when my friends are not on, and when my son wants to play, we are now playing GoW: Remastered($40)...now keep in mind I switch between games sometimes in the same session, on top of anything else that may catch my fancy....those games come out to about $150, all in one month, now assume I don't finish any of them in that month, and we move on to month 2 and I finish 2 of them, that is still only $60 for what I have been playing, lets be extra, if I carry over to a 3rd month...that $90...still, I come out with $60 in my pocket.

Keep in mind, I don't even play games every day of the week, but if you can't finish Hollow Knight 2 and Gears in 2 months, then you shouldn't have even had GP at $20; it's not for you. I also always get CoD each year(mainly for campaign and zombies)...so that is $70...$20 short of the 3 months, $90 GP sub...Plus, I get other games to play, not just stuck to one game. I am aware that this is not everyone's blueprint for playing games, but please stop making it seem like people are limited and locked into one or 2 games a month. Some people actually play way, way more than 3 games a month...so maybe start talking for yourselves, instead of broad strokes like your situation applies to everyone.

This is crazy. I am a huge Xbox fan. Been an Xbox gamers since the early days of the 360 and play it consistently but I am starting to feel like Microsoft is starting to sabotage the Xbox while trying to get as much money as possible from people in the mean time. Between raising prices of their consoles instead of a cheaper mid gen version; and now raising Gamepass prices like this it is hard to be supportive of the Xbox brand at this time.

I remember when pc gamepads was £3.99 and then £1 a month glitch for like 4 years. Only used it 3 times in the last year. Deffinetly won't be using it anymore.

It feels like one of those ultra-fancy restaurants where they charge you $15 for dessert, and it's the biggest piece of pie you've ever seen. You can't finish it, but they keep insisting that, for the size of the pie, $15 is an absolute bargain.

Here’s a thought I’ve been having for a little while, could MS be raising prices because they want people to actually buy their games now instead of playing them on Gamepass? After seeing how well Froza Hotizon 5 sold on PlayStation, the higher ups had to wonder what kinds of sales they could have on their own system if they never implemented Gamepass. Froza made over three million sales from being on PS5, how many sales did it make on Xbox in the same time frame.

I wondered what Xbox would do to sway people off of Gamepass and actually buy their games, they just couldn’t end the service abruptly, but this price hike is the next best thing I guess. Like how would you feel when you see your games sell better on your competitors platform, but everyone on your own platform are playing the games for a fraction of what they’re worth. #sour the milk

Its not that big of a deal. If you dont want the most expensive plan just stick with what you have. If you want access to more games,get the Ultimate. If you dont have or even game on xbox you shouldn't be concerned. Gamers nowadays complain about any and everything.

This subscription bubble is ready to burst. Netflix was amazing value for money back in the day when it was like £6 a month, now for 4k stuff it's like £18, Disney Plus prices going up, now this? I been expecting this day. Probably wont sub yearly anymore but probably for a quarter maybe half a year. I do think ppl. Slightly overreacting. There's literally a $15 tier. No more day 1s in it but still year 1s.

If Xbox was a movie title, then it would have to be 'Everything All At Once ... but failed'.

It's nothing but hilarious that (almost) everything many people talked about for years turned out true over and over again.

Zenimax, ActivisionBlizzardKing, 100 million subs, "one exclusive every quarter", layoffs, cancelled projects, porting Xbox IPs to Playstation, "GP is profitable", price bumps (GP's third one in 3 years), etc.

All of it coming from one of the richest companies in the world.

I can't believe there are still fans out there in die-hard support of this brand and not just its broken promises.

But its intentional illusions sold to people.

I just cancelled my ultimate sub.. I deleted the games i had intalled from it, now i have like 1.5tb free on my pc. Time to start playing my backlog in Steam and/or free games on Epic.

Not only does that mean the cost per hour of your time increases (you don't get more time with a price hike), but people pay for other services too. Why pay for XGP if you and your family get more out of Netflix and other subs? It consumes more of your entertainment budget without necessarily giving you more entertainment or time share.

The math ain't gonna math, and people are getting pretty keen on tightening the purse strings right now.

I've never been a gamepass subscriber. It doesn't fit in with my gaming habits. I have less time to game these days too.... I am glad it exists as an option for people, but prices rising like this seriously damages the product.

Is this MS way of saying we F'd up, Gamepass Ultimate is not sustainable. If you look at all 3 Tiers, Essential and Premium are a lot better than the previous iterations including PC and Cloud gaming. Ultimate with its Day 1 releases may not be as sustainable as MS wanted us to believe so they hiked the price. Basically pay more for the Day 1s and be sustainable or take a less expensive model and buy the games Day 1 you want. Maybe Sony was right and their Subscription model was the best one after all.

So anyone want to talk about the other tiers that are offered or are “we” gonna harbor on the 30 dollar one?

I had every Xbox they ever made and I really liked Gamepass. Series X ist my last Xbox. Switching to Steamdeck 2 when it comes out.

Xbox has been a dead brand to me since 2013. I've spent the past 12 years watching Phil ruin the Xbox division. I'm not surprised by any stupid choices made at this point. Pathetic, let it die.

Strategically, just for the sake of gaming, a very good point in time right after The Game Awards - no doubt.

And even for Microsoft themselves: the current quarter ends December 31st - a good way to highly likely push some GP numbers, that likely had previously declined, for their next quarter report, too. It's just the way it is.

In of itself, $1 (it's also 1€ in Europe) for 1 month Ultimate is just crazy, in every way you can look at it.
