Nintendo doesn't care about the actual user experience, all they're doing is enhancing the security behind the scenes, that's what 99% of PS / XB / NS updates are about.

This is just a sign of the complexity of development in today's day and age. So many things need to be updated to make all the tech being used in games work well on the hardware.
