well done to the whole team. I rarely pre-order game. This was my second pre-order after God of War...

PS: is it me or there are less number of comments on articles lately. It seems either traffic is low or gamers are not commenting anymore on n4g articles?

Lexreborn2123d ago

I think it’s just not worth the argument to fight so much anymore with the current state of the world. Lots of people also can’t focus on gaming like they used to. I know my time is vastly limited

RpgSama123d ago

I agree 100% with the console war basically over with Xbox, very limited time to game lately due to kids, wife and work + it just feels like talking about the same stuff all the time.

The "console war" kept people entertained, now that's over and we do not have a new generation coming to spice things up

Daver123d ago

You two are talking about state of the world, and both are talking about fighting. You can just talk about a media that you like and exchange with others like music, movie, any art and video games

Lexreborn2123d ago

@daver Well the truth is that a lot of the things said on this site amongst others is an argument. You could make a neutral statement and still find someone arguing with you. You can say you liked a game others didn't play or like and you can get flamed. It's not worth it generally speaking coming to a site and feeling like you have to defend yourself over a hobby that you have to pay for with people you don't even know.

Back in the day when the forums had select groups and people to chat with over these things you could find some friends youd chat with more. These days it's an article and typically ragebait at that, and people are just attacking your statement.

Heck, I made a nonsensical rant about what I'd like to see with part 3 of ff7r and all I got was disagrees, no input and all you can do is sit there with that. This is an open forum but it's not really a community, unless someone is making spam accounts to attack others and agree with themselves.

Maybe some double account people are banned. Also, cloudflare has cut down on SPAM, so it might help trim some of the bots.

Lightning77123d ago

Drastic change in console warring. Or lack there of in some spaces, websites etc. Shifts and changes in console strategy has disrupted things.

Only shows they don't game or aren't capable of talking about anything else outside of how great PS or xbox is ever single second.

@rpg still hangin in there with console war. You just proved everything I just said. MS clearly having another console.

Miraak82 123d ago

Too many Sony loyalists to have a real discussion sadly , if you point out Sony's faults (especially the past few years) or praise anything PC or XB related you'll get downvoted all to hell . Been a Sony guy since the beginning but sometimes you gotta see the forest for the trees and commenting here just isn't worth the squeeze (wonder how many downvotes this comment will get lol)

Yui_Suzumiya122d ago

They should bring back the bubble system from yesteryear, lol

Andy_Dee122d ago

A bit of both maybe.

Also IMO when you comment on something with facts or sources that are/is true, you get down votes... Which is insane.

You say something regarding a state or sales and you get down votes when its actual facts. That just bugs me, ppl don't car, they just wanna "hate" because it's not in their opinion. Tiresome.

thorstein122d ago

Crack a joke and downvotes as well.

Christopher121d ago

I will be pushing another request to get rid of downvotes. It's only used by bots mostly now to show disfavor and not representative of the community interacting and talking about their disagreements.

Yui_Suzumiya122d ago

I think my last pre-order was The Last of Us: Part II I believe. Now as far as day one purchases go, I believe that was Kanade a few months ago.

Just Finished Yesterday what a Great Game took me 20 hours but was worth it it should 100 percent get Game of the year.

Daver123d ago

You talk about the time in a negative way. Did you do only the main quest? It took me over 60 hours to explore everything which is a good amount I think

RpgSama123d ago

I find the 20 hours claim on a first playthrough highly unlikely, you must have skipped all side activities, 0 exploration, skipped cutscenes, interactions with group, you missed a lot of what makes the game, game of the year.

Snookies12123d ago (Edited 123d ago )

I mean, I finished just about everything within roughly 36 hours. (Still need like one or two achievements.) That was on Expert difficulty too, so factoring in a lot of deaths. 20 hours does seem like a sprint to the finish line though. Still, it was some of the best 36 hours I've ever had in gaming. There is no contest for game of the year. If this doesn't win by a landslide, something is seriously wrong.

FinalFantasyFanatic123d ago

How long to beat says it takes about 28.5 hours for the main story, he really must have sped run through the game or at least knew what you were doing to finish it that fast (it's certainly possible, I personally doubt his claim). Or maybe he played with a guide, idk, 20 hours seems really fast for a JRPG styled game.

P_Bomb123d ago

Platinum took me 80hrs. There’s cool stuff off the beaten path before you wrap up Act 3. Good fights, good tunes. From Sprong to Simon. Recommend.

Yui_Suzumiya122d ago

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is easily Game of the Year for me, if not my all-time favorite game. 175 hours in and I've only seen 20 out of 100 endings. Buddy of mine took 500 hours to get them all.

deserved

one of the best games released in a long long time

Gamersunite880123d ago

That's great. It'll reach 6 million by the end of the year and maybe over 12 million overall.

Best RPG of 2025

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "If there's one genre you can almost always rely on to put out at least a few solid titles each year it's the RPG genre. Whether it's CRPGs, WRPGs, JRPGs, ARPGs, or MMORPGs, there are a lot of subgenres with rich histories and confusing abbreviations, and each of them brings something worthwhile to the table. This year in particular was a bit of an interesting one since it had no brand new entries in the really long-running, genre-defining series like Final Fantasy or SoulsBorneRing to step in and steal the show. Instead, our shortlist consists mainly of much more unique titles within the genre, but they're certainly no less deserving for that."

2025 in Review: Winners and Losers

VGChartz's Taneli Palola: "Before we leave 2025 completely behind us and begin taking a closer look at the horrors that 2026 surely has in store, let's once again mull over the best and worst of the last year. As is more or less tradition by now, the winners side took ages to properly fill, while there was an abundance of choice for the losers, but to keep some semblance of balance I whittled both sides down to just five. Let's take a look, shall we?"

Good read.

“Phil Spencer made some rather curious statements following the layoffs, notably stating that ”our platform, hardware, and game roadmap have never looked stronger.” So the company is simultaneously the most successful it's ever been, while also firing people by the thousands. Its gaming division is supposedly stronger than ever, yet it's effectively gutted many of the studios that brought it success in the first place.”

This is how a textbook Makavelian society works, where the top dogs become more successful in terms of flair and pomp with soaring bank accounts, only to realize the foundation of the society is rotten and relatively close to collapse. According to former border patrol agent JJ Carell., in 2025 the US was the largest consumer of human in trafficking on earth, and that slavery in America was more popular last year than it ever was, even compared to back when slavery was actually legal in the 1800s. But activist today will blab about how happy they are. But activists today will blab about how happy and proud they are that slavery is technically illegal because they fundamentally fail to grasp how a Makavelian society functions.
