The original 2006 Gears of War is the classic case of "don't judge a book by its cover;" this seemingly meatheaded, bro-forward game has cemented itself as not only one of the best third-person cover shooter series with its iconic gameplay and weapons, but also one that shrugs at its stereotypes to both embrace them (when was the last time you heard someone called a dickwad?) and defy them with great storytelling and fantastic voice acting. Ten years after its first makeover, it's gotten another with Gears of War: Reloaded. Unlike some games that get a premature remaster treatment a few years after their release, this one looks and feels like a noticeable improvement.

This Gears of War Reloaded review for PS5 looks at a sharp 4K remaster that keeps the classic cover-shooting intact but also its dated design. Is this £39.99 revival worth a return to Sera for PlayStation players?
No it’s not worth it, that’s why I will wait to see if it arrives on Plus in a few years. I mean I waited over twenty years already, a little longer won’t hurt.
If the game isn’t on disc I’ll pass 100% until it’s on PS plus. If it is on disc I’ll wait until it’s under 20$. It was fun back in the day but I don’t see it holding up very well after all of these years even with remake.

Gears of War: Reloaded is the original with 4K, up to 120 FPS, cross-play, all post-launch content, and remastered visuals. Gaming Respawn reviews.

"The iconic alien horror shooter best known for its over-the-top gore, its unironic use of macho bravado, and its high-adrenaline action is back (once again). That’s right, this is a review of Gears of War: Reloaded." Jose @ Thumb Culture
They actually put the game on disc which is nice. I played it many years ago so I won’t pay 40$ for it but I’ll grab it used someday to add to the collection.
Seriously...what does the XBOX internal production team do there?! The Senior and Line Producers for this port should have resolved several limitations. When my brother worked there, he and the producers could be fired for one bad or mediocre release. The Production team under Phil and Matt have gotten fat and lazy... #failup
got this one on disc for PS5 coming from amazon later today. I have it already loaded on my SX via GPU, so i will just fire it up when I get home. though I could just play it on my PC at work from xcloud....
Felt very weird seeing the white PS5 banner on the box, and from what I’ve played so far it’s pretty much as I remember but less brown and muddy visually which can’t be bad. Mainly depressed that I’m so old that I bought the original in 2006 aged 21, the person whole sold it to me earlier told me they were born in 2007 and just turned 18.
Surprised how little fanfare the release has had though, feels like Gears has really fallen off from being a top tier franchise. Seems like the game was stealth released, no press, no ads, reviews only after release. Haven’t even seen the Mad World ad from back in 2006 getting shared around. It’s weird that such an important franchise (at least up until the mid 2010s) is being received almost as an afterthought.
Gaming Bolt reported that there would be zero load times/screens for PS5. :)
