Gamers all love getting something a little extra. Whether it's an extra piece of pie, an extra ride on the bumper cars, or that extra toe that helps you scratch your foot -- that little bit more is always appreciated.
Such is the topic of this week's Soapbox. The recent downloadable content that was released for Fallout 3 and Fable II showed Adam how much a prompt schedule of doling out the content can enhance his enjoyment of the game. Adam also thinks that if more games promised extended play with downloadable content within 4 months of the release of the game, some people might be more convinced that it's worth the purchase, and the game's sales will see a reasonable boost.
Do you agree with Adam that such quick roll outs of DLC entices you to buy the game? Or do you think it's just a publisher trying to squeeze every dollar they can out of a game by making you pay for parts that they removed before it was released?

The Outerhaven writes: Being fans of Fable, we decided to do an in-depth retrospective on the Fable franchise, exploring its choices, consequences, tone, and lasting impact on RPG design.

A remaster of Bethesda Game Studios' 2008 action role-playing game, Fallout 3, is planned for release at some point in the future.
Would be nice if they had New Vegas ready as well, especially because of the show.
Hopefully this doesn't have the same performance issues as Oblivion Remastered.
Throw in all the DLC as well, like Oblivion and I'll definitely bite. I recall having one trophy left to unlock on the PS3 version with 100+ hours in my save. When my save file got corrupted, lol. Very sad day.
To be fair though, Bethesda was trash at Playstation ports anyway.
Oh oh oh I can do this too. GTA 7 will be made at some point in the future. Fallout 5 will enter development in the future too
Everyone there should know most gamers want New Vegas and Morrowind more than anything.
He belongs in a circus. He adheres to every basement-lurking "gamer" stereotype in the book. Awkward - check. Spastic - check. Inarticulate - check. Hunchbacked - check. Generally creepy (like Pee Wee Herman after the XXX incident) - check.
"Socially retarded" is being too kind, far as I'm concerned.
I really wish that we had better gaming journalists. And I'm not talking about appearances or anything superficial.
Just NORMAL PEOPLE.
That don't scare children and animals.
That would be refreshing.
P.S. To the "disagree". So Adam seems perfectly balanced and normal to you? He represents the embodiment of you and your hobby in every way? He states his opinion in the clearest, most concise way possible? If that's the case, I'm not going to add insult to injury. Enjoy the wisdom of your God Sessler.
I remember the good old days when you bought a game and it was complete.
@1 (reply button seems to have malfunctioned)
I really don't understand why normal is considered the best thing since... whatever the last best thing was.
The very word "normal" means average, mediocre, bland... a clone if you will. No person is by nature normal, it's just an insane idea people subscribe to. For normal to have any redeeming quality, the norms would have to be at least somewhat admirable, which I doubt anyone with any sincerity can claim is the case.
If you want normal journalists, watch "real" news (CNN/Fox/pretty much any official news), those are the norms you speak so highly of.
On topic, I don't really agree that this whole DLC trend is a good thing. I theory it's nice, but in practice it's being exploited way too much. I would take a proper patch that fixes real game issues over a couple of hours of overpriced "new" (mostly recycled) content any day.
More DLC on PS3 please. All of these things are great, if you own a 360. For the rest of us, well, we're f*cked. I'm not blaming Microsoft for buying up all of this stuff, it's smart, but it's a kick in the balls to everyone else (even though it's a smart kick in the balls, it still sucks).
Only if its an expansion, and NOT if it was supposed to be in the game in the first place and could easily fit on the disc. Unless we're talking about patches.
