Console Creatures writes, "Drag x Drive is fun, but it doesn't pack enough content to retain players. The three-on-three matches are a blast with the right teammates, and nailing some sweet tricks for bonus points is satisfying, but the magic quickly wears thin."

VGChartz's Mark Nielsen: "In retrospect, 2025 was a certainly a year with some very solid game releases, but alas it was not one devoid of disappointment. Dreams were crushed, tears were shed, and, well, some games turned out less good than they could have been. In this article we celebrate those games... or, whatever the opposite of celebrate is."

"Drag x Drive is a game of two halves - a brilliant showcase of new tech and Nintendo’s willingness to try something different but it’s wrapped in a rather dull package."
- Stuart Cullen, TechStomper

Gamespot's Steve Watts: "However, that recenters the focus on the fundamental problem with Drag X Drive: It's not very fun to play, because the controls are alternatively exhausting, imprecise, or both. Even pulling off the trick shots that give the game its personality and nuance requires getting up to top speed, which means navigating finicky tiring controls and avoiding bumping into other players. This is a great game for showing off what the Switch 2 can do conceptually, but it doesn't make a good case for why you'd actually want to do it for very long."
