In what comes as no surprise, a viral tweet misrepresented a Sony statement to suggest that PlayStation is going multiplatform. The confusion stems from an earnings call held yesterday, where the company talked about “moving away from a hardware-centric business.”

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.
"And as I mentioned in the speech, in gaming business and moving away from a hardware-centric business to more to the community- based engagement business, and then that has been increasing."
Growing the engagement will require them to branch out further than they already do. They will need to look at other devices, and their respective user base, in order to see the types of returns they are looking to build. This may/can include increasing the frequency they release titles on PC as well as other gaming consoles. Their base is loyal... to a degree. They want to reel in those who are not already in their loyal base, so make of this what you wish.
The proof is in the pudding.
This isn't news but "opinion" on what they mean. If you put everything together including the job listing they Clearly wanting to go more multiplat. This specific statement most likely means they're focusing on engagement and MAU. Those metrics are often associated with LS. So yes multiplatform LS release definitely expands your platform centric engagement just like Xbox been doing. Going back to that job listing They will be doing more multiplat releases. It'll start with older games for awhile then slowly move to newer releases. Not day and date, they have no plans of that but a year, year in a half afterwards. I saw somewhere they'll narrow it down to 6 months buts that's not verified or even a rumor anywhere.
