MonsterVine: "SEGA's Summer Game Fest 2025 lineup features Demon Slayer: Hinokami Chronicles 2, Shinobi: Act of Vengeance, and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds—three hands-on demos that span anime action, retro beat-’em-ups, and customizable kart racing."

Priced at £64.99/$69.99, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will release physically on Switch 2 on 26th March.

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Unlike RPG and Action-Adventure, two genres that deliver multiple GotY candidates year after year, Racing is something of a feast or famine situation. Luckily, 2025 was a feast year, due primarily to Nintendo's latest hybrid console. All four games on the shortlist appeared on Switch 2; heck, three of them are exclusives. Shin'en, no stranger to Nintendo hardware, once again punched above its weight class with the slick futuristic racer Fast Fusion. Masahiro Sakurai reconfirmed his auteur status with Kirby Air Riders, an unexpectedly deep and content-rich racer with more than a little fighting game DNA in it. Nintendo EPD made a big splash at the launch of Switch 2 with Mario Kart World, which obliterated the spatial boundaries of the franchise. And Sonic Team raised the stakes with Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, thanks to an inventive travel ring mechanic."

VGChartz: "All of the franchises that tend to dominate the genre, at least in terms of mass appeal and sales, forwent brand new releases in 2025, which left the field truly wide open for smaller series to come in and stake a claim to the trophy. Crossovers and new entries in dormant franchises were the main themes of this year's shortlist."
Biggest mistake this game will make is relying on Sonic characters after Sonic Adventure no one knows. Then selling SEGA nostalgia DLC characters from other games after release. People want a SEGA All Stars game using SEGA characters and stages.
