Atlus U.S.A. today announced that Shin Megami Tensei®: Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon, a new chapter in the stunningly original action RPG series for PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, is making its way to North America on May 12th. Improved over its predecessor in every way, Devil Summoner 2 is an action RPG breath of fresh air, with a deep, easy-to-control combat system, nearly two hundred demons to negotiate with, collect, and fuse, and a variety of strategies to employ and master. Experience a 1920's Tokyo bustling with cases to solve, criminals to bring to justice, and the threat of the mysterious King Abaddon looming on the horizon.
Each and every launch copy of Devil Summoner 2 will feature a rare Raiho plushie doll (not available for sale separately). Only a small amount of these rare bundles will be assembled, and each package will be numbered to ensure its rarity and collectible value.

Life as a high school student can be tedious work, but for Raidou Kuzunoha the XIV, homework is a piece of cake! When he's out of school, Raidou is occupied fighting wild demons and other supernatural dangers that are creating a powerful army against the Capital. Fortunately, on a rare peaceful day, Game Podunk managed to convince the quiet Devil Summoner to share twenty-five things about him.

RandomNPC writes: "When Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army was released in the winter of 2006, it seemed to be a bit of a black sheep for the Shin Megami Tensei series. The game was much more about the alternate history detective story at the core of its plot than it was about the more traditional mythological influences of the series, and although the combat system still focused rather strongly on exploiting elemental weaknesses, the fact that it was action-based rather than turn-based made the game feel quite different from the normal SMT title. Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs King Abbadon brings the Devil Summoner sub-series a bit more into line with the overarching feel of the SMT series, but still retains most of what made the first game interesting. In short, Devil Summoner 2 is a solid improvement on the series."
ATTENTION: CALLING ALL PERSONA 3 AND 4 FANS... THIS IS YET ANOTHER GAME IN THE SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI SERIES. SO IF YOU WANT ANOTHER GAME WITH SIMILAR THEMES, THIS IS IT. DEVIL SUMMONER IS AN ACTION RPG THAT BRINGS BACK THE CONTRACT SYSTEM USED TO ENLIST DEMONS INTO YOUR PARTY. DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY!
MINE!!! Gimme that plushie! Going to preorder mine as soon as possible. Anybody who's been with the SMT series for long knows these vanish within days of retail, and end up all over Ebay for boat loads of money. I'm not going to make the same mistake again when I chose to wait on Digital Devil Saga. Ugh, I can't believe I made such a horrible decision.
Anyways, never played the first one. So this should be pretty fun. I've heard the game is pretty damn good. Well, from those who played the Japanese version. I can't believe I'm this excited, and there's still four months to go. :D
