Incel outrage is one of the reasons gamers aren't taken seriously.

jambola372d ago

so you're pro censorship and insult anyone who disagrees
gotcha

Flewid638372d ago

Imagine not knowing that you can express discontent without raging like an incel

REDDURT372d ago

Everyone is a incel who won’t fall inline.

gold_drake371d ago

no i think censoring a 18+ game is incredibly stupid.

im an adult and dont need to be coddled

CrimsonWing69371d ago

So when something gets censored, people just aren’t supposed to say anything?

We can praise a game’s violence, crude humor, or edgy writing all day, but the moment someone says a design is hot or pushes back on censorship in an M-rated game, it’s suddenly “incel outrage”?

Give me a break. If you’re posting on a gaming news site, you’re already in the same boat — you’re not above the rest of the community just because you’re uncomfortable with fanservice.

Criticizing censorship isn’t incel behavior — it’s called being a fan with standards.

jambola371d ago

you can complain if it's violence, but not skin, especially on a female character
and as we all know, small things never grow into bigger problems

Flewid638354d ago

Saying something is great.
Raging like an incel is not.

MDTunkown371d ago

You know first remaster sales wasn’t great so introducing new censorship to an ancient game that would piss fans isn’t a good strategy.

Kombatologist132d ago

Oh boy, look at all the incels I offended. When you virgins finally grow up, you'll come to learn there's more important battles to fight than some minor costume edit in a video game.

guess i'll wait for a sale
can't bring myself to support censorship this much

jznrpg372d ago

It’s not much of a change but totally unnecessary to be changed in the first place.

hot4play372d ago

I’m still holding out for a physical release on PS5 or Switch. Has Capcom confirmed whether a disc version is still in the works?

DarXyde372d ago

How is it censorship if Capcom is the one that made the change of their own volition? I could understand if they did it because they were told to, but that doesn't seem to be the case. At this point, it's a creative change.

You could make the argument that Oyu's costume was only more revealing because they wanted to appeal to horny teens at the time and this is what they would prefer to do.

We don't really know, but it was Capcom's decision, so why is this a big deal?

Rebel_Scum372d ago (Edited 372d ago )

Its isnt censorship. There’s just a weird crowd of internet folk who cry about these sorts of changes.

At the end of the day they are the creators. They can change their art whenever and however they see fit. Happens in every artistic medium.

jznrpg370d ago

It’s a super minor change but technically it is censorship.

MDTunkown371d ago

The game is over 20 year old and remaster wasn’t made by og developers even Capcom CEO was someone else back then. So they took an old game from another period and made changes not to offend modern gamers.
But if you buying a remaster you just want higher definition and frame rate and having same experience as the game originally launched.

DarXyde371d ago (Edited 371d ago )

"So they took an old game from another period and made changes not to offend modern gamers."

So your criticism is that it's modernized? Modernization of gaming takes many forms. Even MGS3∆ has made modernizations. I don't know how old you are, but, believe it or not, people who were young-ish when these games came out are not the target audience of these remakes and remasters. Games get modernized for a modern target audience. Just as some mechanics are dated, so too are some themes. I think you unintentionally described it best: the game is modernized (i.e., made for the modern target demographic). It's not all about us.

"But if you buying a remaster you just want higher definition and frame rate and having same experience as the game originally launched."

This makes zero sense. So based on your argument here, higher definition and frame rate would not change the experience... But an undershirt on a supporting character does? What are you even saying?

MDTunkown371d ago

@DarXyde mgs3 delta is a remake not a remaster.
Remastering something means just increasing the frame rate, texture and resolution while the core game stays the same.
Remasters prime targets are the original gamers not the new one.
If it was a remake then the censorship would been understandable. But doing censorship in a remaster because political climate changed is wrong. Goal of remasters is to be a HD zeitgeist.

DarXyde368d ago (Edited 368d ago )

MDTunkown,

" Remastering something means just increasing the frame rate, texture and resolution while the core game stays the same."

This definition isn't a good one. Following this logic, Shadow of the Colossus PS4 and Demon's Souls PS5 aren't remakes because they tick all of those boxes (and then some). Those are very faithful remakes.

You're also ignoring context: this is a remaster of a game that came out decades ago. It's very unrealistic to suggest there wouldn't be a need to make adjustments. I also don't really see why you'd consider this a "political change". sure, we can say that "everything is political", but there isn't really any connective issue to policy with this decision. They did it because... They decided to do it. That's the long and short of it. This is not at all a decision that affects gameplay. It's not a remaster, but one example of a game missing content /altering the expected experience would be GTA IV, which omits flying planes entirely (a feature that came to be entirely expected in GTA) because Liberty City is modeled after New York. That I would say is consequential. An undershirt? No. And I'm willing to bet it only cuts one way where if Oyu had pasties, this wouldn't be an issue. Either way, I'm saying "if no one is making you make this change and it's not destructive to the experience, go for it". Just to be clear, I don't support censorship. But I also don't consider this censorship. If the esrb said this was necessary and that prompted the change, yes, that's bad.

I guess I'm just thinking about it differently. I really don't see any reason for people to be jumping up and down about it.

"Goal of remasters is to be a HD zeitgeist."

Well, there are plenty of games released in the HD era that for remastered so it's not just about bringing SD to HD. That aside.

If you mean "as a product of its time at the time of the original product", I think that defeats the purpose of any modernization efforts, wouldn't you say? control schemes, for example: why improve upon them or utilize new controller features if it's just intended to be an HD Zeitgeist? I think it's more than that. It's about bringing in new blood as much as it is about speaking to the older generations.

jambola371d ago

yeah
it they remove half the game and make you pay a subscription
who cares right? no big deal? capcoms decision?

you can split hairs if you wants, different name, same result
self censorship if anythign

DarXyde371d ago

You would say that, as you come in with this straw man argument?

They're not removing half the game. They're not making you pay a subscription. They covered up a pair of tatas.

That's it. That's literally it. In no world is your silly comparison even remotely the same thing or indicative of a slippery slope.

jambola370d ago

it's not a strawman, it's a hy-po-thet-i-cal
you said "it's capcoms decision so why is it a big deal" and so I asked you if this thing would also be ok f it was capcoms decision
you sound like my brother asnwering a "what if" question when he was 12

DarXyde369d ago

And I'm telling you that you're generalization is wildly inappropriate;
Your hypothetical intends to have me say, "no, it's not okay to make it sub based or with half the content cut", is that right?

Well, yeah. That's not ok. But what is the point of this comment then if you are not trying to make a broader point?

jambola368d ago

we can't have a discussion if you ignore my qiestions that I ask
stop avoiding, answer or ignore
