A lot of those games fail. Companies are forcing it through because they people to continuously buy microtransactions. Also they don't need to focus on any artistic elements — just throw some garbage out there and make money.

No actually a lot of video games fail. For example, there are thousands of games that get released every year, most small and indie games. A significant portion of indie games, estimated to be around 70-96%, are considered financial failures, failing to generate enough revenue to be considered successful. A significant portion of indie games are single-player. I don't see any media outlets writing about these failed games. But let 1 or 2 live service games fail and we will be inundated with articles, post, and videos about failing live service/AAA games.

It's just live service games that the most attention, nothing more. Point is very simple, live service games make more money than single player games and more people play them. Most companies will follow that

You do realise it’s easier to count successful live service/AAA games than failed ?

Redemption-64298d ago

@MDTunkown

A significant majority of video games, be it live service or single player games fail. It is just easier to talk about failed live service/AAA games than 1000 failed indie games that some people pretend to care about.

I mean, how many asset flip simulators exist, and are going to?
How many Synty, bare bones zombie survival games are getting churned out?
How many farm sims?
it'd be a 24/7 ticker of shit games not making profit or failing, games nobody was gonna buy to begin with.
so yeah the news is on AAA games that cost millions, with 100 person dev teams.

Redemption-64298d ago

The news is on AAA games, while constantly crying about wanting more indies, but have 0 desire to support the thousands of indies out there. Similar to how people constantly cry about there being too many remakes or sequels and wanting more original movies, but never show up to support those original movies.

Just as there are many assets flipped games, there are also good/unique indie games that people who claim they want more of ignore.

IAMRealHooman298d ago

We are just gonna have to reverse course as a community.
Go back to taking a gamble, and word of mouth from friends and not "influencers".

Wander stop looks intriguing, but 100k people watched Dr.disrepect say its looks mid so now they have to think it looks mid, and hype up he next COD or BR, extraction hero, survival game.

@IAMRealHooman

The influencer thing is frustrating. I get that people have limited time and money and can't try everything, so to a certain degree you have to look at other people's opinions on things to decide how to spend your time and money. But there is definitely a line between that and just parroting one or two particular influencers' opinions about everything, and a lot of people have unfortunately crossed that line in recent years.

On certain games you can't even really talk to people about them because they just copy/paste an influencer's bullet point opinions on it, so you aren't even really talking to them about the game, because they haven't played it, they just parrot opinions.
