That's pretty much how I got into PS, man. RE1, Metalgear, SOTN, FFVII and Silent Hill persuaded my focus from Nintendo to Sony. ^^

FFVII's music blew me away. Plus, the length and stuff to do in the game blew me away as well. This is one of my favorite all-time-games.

Up until this point, my favorite game was SNATCHER which only took about 5 hours MAX to beat.

I hated turn based rpgs and I hated silly fairies and magic spell type games. For some reason, I don't know why, I was compelled to rent it. That ended up being the best decision I ever made.

FFVII changed EVERYTHING about what I considered videogames could be. There was such a deep story to be told, such a badass antagonist, and SOOO much character development that I was sad (no, I didn't cry) to see Aeris go.
Also, up until that point, it was the best graphics I had ever seen in a game.

I broke out the PS1 last week and popped this one back in there to a sense of overwhelming nostalgia.
FFVII is my favorite game of all.

to fight the Emerald Weapon. Fun times!

The hell you guys talking about FF7 being the best.

FF6 was better than 7.

I started with Dragon Warrior, then did move into FF1, but FF4 has such an impact on me, what a shame I played that game a least 2-3 times in a row, Kain, "you bastard." but seriously FF7 was amazing, for the simple fact that it accomplished and broke out of the standard fantasy lore, I really miss the Lunar series too. SIGH

FFVII was my first RPG so I guess I'm biased.. but to be honest, I really haven't liked any characters in any of the FFs since. The best things about FFVII were the characters and the theme. Barret, Cid, Red XIII, Tifa, Yuffie, The Turks, The Shinra crew... I loved them all (I didn't care for Aerith personally). Since then I've only ever liked one character in FF games as much as the afformentioned posse... Steiner from FFIX. I've not played the games before VII but I think the FF games have got progressively worse (with the exception of IX which I preferred to XIII) and none of them will match FFVII.

The theme, the technologies, the idea of a massive evil corporation (I like it, and it's a lot more believeable to me than all this magical crap). I'm a business student too so I do like the theme.

FFVII is in my top 3, along with Deus Ex and Half-life 2 (With the episodes, gotta have the eps).

but there's something special about ff7 for me. before i bought ff7 the only jrpg that i constantly played was phanasy star for the master system, and for about ten years after i never felt the need to play games of that ilk. then one day i went over to a friends place and he tells me i want to show you something,so he turns on his psone and that beautiful opening cinematic started. begining with the flower girl and ending with the train flying down the tracks. cloud jumps out gets confronted by the guards, and i was sold.

FF IX was just a liiittle better imo. They are both incredible tho..will never forget them :(

final fantasy played them all from legends to 12 didnt like 5 and 12 didn't also bother to play 11 my favorites are 4,6,7and 9 :)

FFVIII FTW, FFXII is the worst FF I have ever played

1. FFVIII.
2. FFVII.
3. FFVII Crisis Core.
4. FFVI.
5. FFX.
And im not even gonna discuss FFIX or FFXII to me they are the most dissapointing jrpgs made apart from the awful additions recently made to the Xbox360

I didn't play this on the original Playstation, but I did buy the steam version after hearing about the amazing mods that are available. Square Enix definitely made the right decision to re-release this game on multiple platforms decades after release.

I am still wishing for the day Nintendo releases the original Pokemon Red and Blue on mobile with online features.

Edit: I am also looking forward to the day Square Enix ports FFX to mobile.
