Avowed is a perfectly competent RPG that showcases Obsidian’s writing and worldbuilding chops, but has little else to distinguish itself among swords-and-sorcery adventures.

Avowed arrives on PS5 after a year of post-launch refinement and it shows. Obsidian's writing delivers a richly layered mystery with companions who challenge rather than echo the player. Dual-wielding combat offers genuine flexibility across melee, ranged, and magical archetypes. Twenty to forty hours of filler-free content. PS5 players are getting the best version of a very good RPG.

I’m glad I was able to ignore the overall negative sentiment around the game and play the PS5 version, which now has the anniversary update. The reason? Avowed is a unique RPG with thrilling combat and an intriguing storyline that features a God in your head.

Obsidian Entertainment's Avowed is now available on PlayStation 5, coming alongside a sizable Anniversary Update one year after the game's original release for Xbox Series X|S and Steam last year.
isn't 7 bit low from IGN?
Average at best.
They should make Grouended 2. That's where the studio really shined.
Ouch
81 on meta n open. Good score.
I don't need it to distinguish itself that much, we aren't exactly getting an overabundance of games like this. Especially not of the wellwritten kind.
