TGR:
"If I have one major complaint about Crash Commando, it is simply that it is yet another shooter in a market already flooded with them. It scores some points for the fact that its 2D view is far different from the typical FPS fair that has come to such prominence in this generation, but at the end of the day, it relies on many of the same conventions, though using them in ways that are far more shallow than many of the feature length games on the market. Gamers who find Crash Commando to be of interest probably already have a worthy shooter on their shelves that does more, better. That doesn't mean it's not fun, but even for just ten dollars, it lacks the kind of depth that a lot of other downloadable games are trying to offer nowadays, and there are probably more than a few gamers who will lose interest after a few days, if not even a few hours."

With Activision's Crash Team Rumble's launch coming this year, it might be good to look at older games for inspiration like Crash Team Racing.

Blocky graphics, pre-rendered backgrounds, and controls that could not make sense of a 3D world were all hallmarks of games on the original PlayStation console. Here are our picks for PS1 games that actually stand the test of time.
One of the best, if not the best, generations for gaming. So many brilliant games came out during this: Parasite Eve, Resident Evil, Alundra, Xenogears, Final Fantasy VII, and I’ll be here all day naming them off.
Nowadays, nobody would take a risk on 75% of the IPs on that console. I’ll tell you this, there was no damn remasters on that system. Every game was something unique.
Parasite Eve, Dino Crisis, RE2, RE3, Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross, Xenogears are all my favorites. Glad to see Legacy of Kain get mentioned. FF7 does get the love and its a great game I love it but I Like FF8 more and I know many people who will also drop FF9 into this list as well. MMX4 I prefer on the Saturn myself don't know what it is but I preferred MM games on the Saturn. PS1 was my second choice when the 32bit era landed on gamers after the fall of the Saturn PS1 had the library and the developers.
A lot of these games do not hold up as well as you’d think. MGS is pretty archaic for newer gamers to grasp. It’s not as bad as RE or Silent Hill but it still plays rough. I think out of the PSOne generation, the most preserved games are 2D like SOTN, Rayman, and my favorite Oddworld games. I agree that FF Tactics is definitely a lasting format.
Vagrant Story is the only one I would go back to play. In certain ways it still hasn't been matched. The dialog and visual direction are of amazing quality and the music is absolutely superb.

With the recent release of Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled, Team Sonic Racing, and the continued dominance of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, gamers are officially living in a kart racing renaissance. All three of those ’90s mascots are on the Nintendo Switch too, a feat that would have blown anyone away on the playground back in the good old days.
Of course, it wasn’t just Mario and Sonic hitting the circuit either. In its heyday, kart racing was an all-consuming genre, with tons of franchises getting their own spin on Mario Kart action. It didn’t matter if they had a small cast or if they had nothing to offer in terms of power-up ideas, there were as many kart racers back then as there are mobile match three games now. The PS1 era was full of weird franchises getting their own kart racers for no reason other than that's what you did. From Toy Story to Final Fantasy.
Let’s take a trip through history and relive the absurdity that makes Sonic the Hedgehog driving a car seem normal.
I disagree, this game is awesome.
However it is a shame of no sign of a split screen mode.
