Siliconera: "Maybe yes! In addition to the Xbox Live Arcade / PlayStation Network versions of Space Invaders Extreme Taito might be working on a full sequel. A Play-Asia listing for Space Invaders Extreme 2. While we haven't heard anything official from Taito about said game Play-Asia leaked quite a few games recently such as Strikers 1945 Plus and Crimsongem Saga. Fingers crossed this listing is correct."

GamingTrend writes: "The first memory I have of an arcade game was this one tabletop arcade box that allowed two players to play Space Invaders from opposite sides of the table. It had colored glass over the screen that would change the colors of the aliens as they came closer to the cannon. The cabinet had a joystick to move the cannon left or right and a button to fire. The little alien invaders became instantly recognizable. Even the Jaws-like music during the invasion became an instant classic. Since then several ports and clones have come about, but none were able to capture the same magic until Space Invaders Extreme came out on the PSP and DS. The surprising hit has now garnered a sequel with Space Invaders Extreme 2."

"Overall, the game's aesthetics are excellent and strike an effective balance between old and new elements. Space Invaders Extreme 2 itself is a fine title, and one that should please veterans who've followed the franchise through the years and want to see the updates along with younger players who will probably find enough hooks and twists to keep them coming back for more."
Cool, my girlfriend loves the first game and just recently beat it, looks like i'll be picking this up next week.

WorthPlaying writes: "Sometimes, an idea is almost there on the first try but needs a second attempt to really click. Space Invaders Extreme was a prime example of this, with excellent gameplay that was just a few tweaks short of perfection, taking a classic game and finding exactly the right way to twist it into something new and enjoyable. Space Invaders Extreme 2 simply takes this concept and runs further with it, with the end result essentially being an 8-bit version of Rez. This is as awesome as it sounds, and as a result, Space Invaders Extreme 2 is one of the strongest games on the DS system."
I admit, I actually want that reverse Space Invaders game for Wii. I don't have a Wii, but I want that, sounds brilliant fun.
