The Game Awards' process is inherently flawed, with no easy fix.

The charity event will be streamed live from Gamescom in August.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is getting cheaper but Call of Duty is leaving day-one access. Here’s what we think the price drop means for Xbox, PC Game Pass, and the future of the service.

Tech4Gamers writes: "A PlayStation Support assistant has confirmed that the 30-day timer implemented by the new DRM policy is part of an update and isn’t a bug. While responding to a fan’s query, PS support revealed that all games purchased digitally after March 2026 will be affected by this time limit.
If your PS4 or PS5 does not connect to the internet within 30 days, the game’s license will expire, and it won’t launch on the console unless the connection is restored. Hence, every digital game you purchase from now on will require an online check-in, or else you will lose ownership."
That is wild lol. Steam already does this for some games depending on the developer...but man...all digital games on ps5...
This has to be a mistake.
“Received word from an anonymous insider. The Sony DRM issue is unintentional. From what we gathered, Sony accidentally broke something while fixing an exploit. They've known about the confusing UI for a while, but didn't see it as urgent. Hoping for a clarifying statement now.”
The screenshot from the article is from an AI chat bot, there are plenty of screenshots floating around from actual human chat reps stating the opposite.
It this is real then I will never buy digital again and if the PS6 is digital only then it will be the first Playstation Console I wont buy
"Games will vanish" is click baity as hell...all you have to do is log in and the license is restored.
Game awards should be determined by the public. It's not perfect but it's better than investors, boot-lickers, and board members deciding which games we like.
I'm not sure what kind of gamers focus on game awards shows or gives a rat's ass about them. That time could be spent, oh I dunno... playing games? I can tell you that the viewership demo is mainstream and always needs captivation and is on the impressionable younger side, meanwhile you have old school gamer-too dorky spoke-hole edge-lords at the helm of the show selling their lame businessman-dad-gamer persona and what ever bs they have been paid to squak about plus a a flood of advertising. It does not need fixing, the shi7 just needs to go.
These shows only represent the dumb consumer that needs to be pacified and told what to like/buy. ^ but without this , these crap journo sites would have nothing to write about...And they are talking about how it needs to be fixed. Oh, the irony.
How dare they nominate the games I don't like instead of the games I do. 😠
I concur with the article's viewpoint that the Gaming Award primarily serves as a popularity contest, predominantly benefiting large AAA titles, a sentiment echoed and substantiated by Alanah Pearce.

As a hardcore gamer, I dislike The Game Awards because they don't seem to recognize the best games (for instance, a VR game will likely never win GOTY) but rather promote those that will generate the most clicks. However, The Game Awards should remain as it is because it's acceptable to have an award show that promotes the next big AAA titles on PlayStation or Nintendo since that's where most gamers are and will be satisfied with the outcome.
For instance, how often have you been upset with a movie award show because an obscure film that no one watched won Best Picture over a major blockbuster from Disney, Universal, etc.?
If you're interested in a show that celebrates effort, innovation, and more, consider watching the BAFTA Awards.
the likes of LA times, Variety, Pride etc are involved in determining the recipients of the awards.
So yeah i would say it’s flawed.
