Is It Wrong To Still Mock Star Citizen And Squadron 42?

Roberts Space Industries may be moving on from simply harvesting money from hopeful backers and might be releasing an actual game in 2026

gold_drake449d ago

no, its a ridiculous scam, always has been.

PrinceOfAnger449d ago

go play concord ,8 years 200/400m then cancelled in the first week!

italiangamer449d ago

Of course you would believe on that $400 million bullshit 🤣 found the butthurt guy who's funding this "game" for years.

PrinceOfAnger449d ago

@italiangamer

I haven't spent even a single 1$ on this game till this day , i was always playing Star citizen when it's free to play , but i will buy the single player SQ42 even if it's 90$ for 40 hour campaign!

You are the one who is butthurt here. 🤣

PrinceOfAnger449d ago

The money you give sony on every game they develop concord for you with it.. 🤣

thorstein449d ago (Edited 449d ago )

The studio only existed for 6 years and ProbablyMonsters Inc. only has 250 million in capital in their entire existence.

Where do you people come up with this nonsense? Just make it up as you go?

Or do you just believe everything you read online?

CrashMania449d ago

B-but concord, every time, it's hilariously pathetic. Wtf does concord even have to do with this anyway? Typical Xbox fanboy defence, concord whataboutism

LordoftheCritics449d ago (Edited 449d ago )

''Roberts Space Industries may be moving on from simply ''harvesting money'' from hopeful backers and might be releasing an actual game in 2026'

setting forever changing dates is their way of ''harvesting money''

Unless you mean they are done harvesting money which means they are done lying.
Which means they lied for the past 10 years.

But hey you could be right, I mean maybe this time they mean it.
Like how they meant it every year since 2012.

Guys this is it.
Maybe this time

''Is It Wrong To Still Mock Star Citizen And Squadron 42?''

Is it wrong to mock scams?

Is it wrong to mock deception?

MDTunkown449d ago

Concord was released. So when is star citizens release date. My friend was in high school when he invested in that game. Now he is father of 2 children. I bet he’ll become sooner grandpa than the game gets release date

Lionsguard449d ago

Concord was actually released as a full functioning game with no microtransactions. Say what you will about it but it at least had the balls to actually release and then when it bombed, they refunded everyone's money on the spot. Will Scam Citizen do the same if it happens to them? Will they refund those packages that people bought for 40-70 THOUSAND dollars? I think not..

Terry_B449d ago

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with you that you come up with Sony this, Sony that every day in articles that have nothing to do with Sony at all.

gold_drake wrote his opinion that has nothing to do about Sony, so wtf do you mention Sony here every day?

PrinceOfAnger449d ago

@Terry_B

because the hate on this game is mostly from sony fanboys , you can see some of them here with the Aloy profile pic..

DarXyde448d ago

1. What does Concord have to do with Star Citizen or Squadron 42? How are they even comparable? Are you implying it was a scam? The game did release and was only pulled because it failed to make any traction on any platform. How is that a scam, especially when refunds were issued? This is extraordinarily tenuous reasoning.

2. I get that the internet allows you a layer of anonymity, but I really want you to reflect on this: article asks if it's fair to still call it a scam. gold_drake believes yes and your first instinct is to tell them to go play Concord. I will never understand it, but there's a weird enclave in the CIG community that takes anything short of fawning praise or scepticism about their products as a personal attack.

Don't be weird. Behave yourself and do better, please.

PapaBop448d ago

At least it got a full release.

peppeaccardo448d ago

you missing the point ... SC/S42 is a never to be released money making machine (I did not use the word game here for a good reason), Concord is a released game that flopped. Using these articles to downplay this or that brand is immature. Do your homework before posting or control your childish anger.

Well the "game" is actually been playable all this while ...even with F2P sessions ... so not total scam ... you might not have to spend a dime to experience/enjoy it.
And as for the project, it has expanded into being more of an expensive mega hobby project than a true game in strict terms. You can bash it given its structure but it is what it is evolved into and don't think it'll slow down.
And members have been able to play the game nevertheless, contributing and enjoying....

LordoftheCritics449d ago (Edited 449d ago )

contributing?
have you been to the forums? contribution doesnt exist if CIG doesnt listen

enjoying?
have you actually played the so called 'game' and been to forums again?

SC is a ship sale game driven by bait and switch tactics.

Chilliersplash449d ago

My problem with this game being ‘playable’ is the server wipes where you lose everything and start again , how many times can you really do this before it gets old. Yes technically it is playable but I could never get into a persistent game where I kept having to start from scratch. If it saved progression I could get behind it a bit more even with the length of time it’s been in development but as it is it’s very much pre alpha and will probably stay that way indefinitely.

Elantregaless449d ago

Yes.
But
We live in a world where bigger scams exist and received no punishement.

LordoftheCritics449d ago

Dam why didn't we all think of that?

Guys lets scam.

It's all forgiven coz worse scams exist

Hotpot449d ago

More like a cult by now, whoever’s still playing it believed the dev can still make it happen when they clearly have mismanagement issues and obviously perpetually delaying the game.

New ship every few months for what? To bait stupid people with too much money so the dev can buy yet another supercar named after the stupid fan?

just_looken448d ago

Yes star citizen needs police/fed investigation for sure there are recent articles with sources saying they might be out of cash
https://insider-gaming.com/...

They had a livestream to show off squadron 42 it crashed 7 times for 2 hours of gameplay but hey do not worry we delayed it for 2 year like what?

https://www.youtube.com/cli...

How can someone say i spent over 780 million dollar's but do not have a final build to ship out? we are talking a cost greater than cuberpunk or gta5.

There needs to be accountability here a digital shield to say customer pays for x so they get x in this time frame there have been way to many of these games that get funded take the funding then leave or this case say they are spending 100million a year even 180 on some years but have just roadmaps of roadmaps?

Remember also Baldur's gate 3 cost 100million or a year funding of star citizen

just_looken448d ago

That is squadron 42 that was first planned a 2016 release then a 2018 then a 2020 then a 2024 now a 2026.

Star citizen is still in a alpah/beta state with 0 release date.

rlow1449d ago

I don’t believe a word they say. They’ve lied so many times. Promises are cheap when you initially were supposed to launch back in 2012 or whatever date that was promised on their GoFundMe page.

What they need to do is not say a thing and then launch it. Stop stringing people along and fleecing them for money.

Demetrius449d ago

Lmao no, folks put out a "cutscene" and now there's folks in awe of it 🤣

PrinceOfAnger449d ago (Edited 449d ago )

Lol you know nothing about the game, everything you see are all real-time in-game you can even control the camera freely anytime in Cutscenes or Gameplay same with star citizen

If you have a PC go download star citizen when it's Free to Play , and see for yourself, people are actually making movies with free cam view / free look, option.

MrBaskerville449d ago

The company seems terrible and mismanaged. But if they actually release Squadron in 2026 (need to see before I believe it) and it actually turns out decent, then I'll bite.

I have no money in this, so game didn't hurt me. But I'm also sceptical that they can pull it off. Seems like a potential disaster waiting to happen.

Alos88449d ago

Pull off the con of the century maybe.

anast449d ago

That's the world. People let it happen.

look fantastic! I hope they don't delay it to 2 more years"

Takwin133d ago

Genuinely think this is the biggest scam in the history of gaming. We will eventually see a Coffeezilla excoriation and then a Netflix documentary on it. I want a "Poop Cruise" for this game basically!
