Nintendo of America's Perrin Kaplan has confirmed that the company has ceased production of its last generation console, the GameCube, and will not release any further games for it.
Spong reports that whilst Nintendo still sees a place in the market for its struggling last-gen machine, manufacturing efforts have now shifted over to the likes of Wii, DS and Game Boy Advance.

New report from Skillsearch found that 22% of those surveyed had been laid off within the past 12 months.

It's a step forward for Stop Killing Games.

The Callisto Protocol director thinks the solution involves the right people, the right timing, and perhaps a little bit of AI
I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise
We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.
Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.
it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.
This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
did it EVER have support??
What's up with companies dropping support for stuff as soon as their new products hit? Ignoring 20,000,000 consoles is kinda stupid.
I think the best thing Nintendo learned from the Cube is that robust first AND third party support is crucial for success...something they're already applying to the Wii. Well, the Cube had an OK run...not a great one, but there were some great games: Resident Evil 4, Windwaker (Well, I liked it), Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart: DD, Paper Mario, Pikmin 1 & 2, Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime, Rogue Squadron, and many more.
I thought they stopped ages ago! Haha xD
SOME PEOPLE AINT GONNA LIKE THIS JUST LIKE THE XBOX1. I HAD GAMECUBE AND SWAPPED IT FOR PS2 GAMES BUT STILL KEPT THE GAMES BECAUSE OF MY SIS GETTING A WII BUT I THINK I MADE A GOOD CHOICE BUT NOT SO MUCH FOR OTHERS THAT ARENT PLANNING TO GET A NEXT GEN CONSOLE
