Wow, fair enough... I honestly didn't have much hope that this would turn out well. I really thought the combat looked stiff during the trailer I saw. But hey, if they nailed the atmosphere like people are saying. That's the most important thing for a horror game. Never played the original, but I will definitely pick this up sometime soon since it is getting pretty universal praise.

Bad traversal stutter on PC. Cutscenes are also locked to 30fps which is jarring when it switches down from 60fps.

Not digging the newer comparatively cleaner photo real look of the remake.
The original was so deliciously foggy grimy grainy and noisy and sense of unsettling in its visual presentation that it still holds up 23 years later.
Still don't have the courage to finish both games though too damn scary for my taste.
In the psychological horror genre, less is more, and I felt that Blooper team still don't get that rule, if you're going to make everything photo real and cleaner you'd ended up with a blander less imaginative horror game.

this is definitely a game you play with graphics mode on. imo.

So long as I have Ray Tracing off this game still runs above 60 fps for me on my 3080 and honestly that’s all I need for a game like this. When I did have RT on though I got a lot of fps drops in somewhat larger areas. The apartments area with a baby carriage in the pool nearly tanked all my frames and was chugging. Turning it off, I can still play 2k max settings and it looks fantastic

It’s all futile war stuff one game runs better on the machine and next game runs better on the other . Optimization was done since the original release of the game a year ago so I would expect the X version to run better . Stalker 2 on ps5 runs better than the X counterpart and Im willing to bet that year it took for the ps5 version to come out some sort of optimization was done for the recent port

I honestly don’t even care for the comparisons this gen and going forward. The differences are so negligible that no sane person playing would even notice and/or call one a winner over the other.

The console wars were decided by the transition to digital games (Last gen). The Xbox 360 had an advantage in backward compatibility, but Sony addressed it quickly with the PS5. If you have over 100 titles in the PlayStation ecosystem, you don’t switch, even if the other hardware makes a big leap in technology. The reason we bought the Switch was for Nintendo exclusives, not hardware leap. MS must be cautious in trying to retain gamers with large libraries, which is why they are changing their philosophy to emphasize preserving your library across other stores. If Microsoft launches a new console next year, the results will likely be similar or even worse unless the exclusives issue is addressed.
