Famitsu's 21 Creators Interview (PS3 Version)

PS3hyper writes: "Issue 1/23 of Weekly Famitsu celebrate the new year by interviewing 21 Japanese game "creators" who they think will make waves in the year 2009. I always love these interviews, especially when developers explain the thinking behind their games or reveals how difficult it is to make them. Each creator gets a page to talk about 2008, 2009 and their games, so read on if you're interested."

I'm sick of this company. In 2 years, they have yet to release ONE PS3 game. And what releases they have made on the 360 have been flawed at best. Perhaps they'll start supporting the system when the FFXIII momentum takes over in Japan and the PS3 gets it's $100 price cut (which we know is coming).

They'll come back like a bad lover who slept with your friend and now want's to try and "make up".

I say "shoo".

Oh, and with all the hype and drama surrounding FF XIII it had better be the greatest JRPG of ALL TIME. That said, with the reviewers and media so used to Western RPGs, I wonder how the critical reception will be.

Cheers,
- C

WIIIS16321d ago

Wow is that what you PS3 fans think of business entities that bring their games to a wider audience? A bad lover who slept with your friend? That's disturbing.

Chris3996321d ago (Edited 6321d ago )

And as consumers, we ALL should be disappointed with SE this gen. The two games that they have released thusfar have been trash and riddled with technical faults.

"Bringing games to a wider audience" is nice and all, but that statement isn't really true.

A.) A "wider audience" would generally include the PS3 (20 million systems).
B.) These games have been rushed and released at the expense of the consumer. Again, I'm not emotionally attached to my consoles, however, I AM emotionally attached to the $140 Canadian + tax that I shelled out for Infinite Undiscovery and The Last Remnant. I work hard for my money and it has value to me. I am disappointed that I wasted it on these games, as are most people who purchased them.

Hope that clears things up,
- C

ultimolu6321d ago

I agree with you. Square claims that 3rd party exclusivity is over and yet they ignore the PS3.

LostChild6321d ago

You should be disappointed in yourself for thinking everything Square puts out would be good. If you have been following Square since Chrono-Trigger, you would have known to take caution in a new IP from them. (Chrono-Trigger is a good game by the way, I am just starting there)

Square games: Final Fantasy XI, Silpheed and Last Remnant on 360 (LR was an RPG made on an engine not made by Square for the first time. They tried to do something new and it didn't workout so well. But just like Bouncer, Eihander and such, these three games are nothing but cannon fodder to bring in a little more income, until they release their true heart and soul next-gen games. We all know which games they are.

Tri-Ace game published by Square: Infinit Undiscovery, another average RPG that fills the void for RPG fans until their real Heart and Soul rpgs is released: StarOcean4.

Just because there is a famous Developer's/Publish's name on the box, doesn't mean the game inside will be AAA as people are calling them these days. Square has been making crap games way before they saw how low of sales the PS3 had and decided to go multiplat. It's just that the gamers of this gen are so stuck is this so-called console war, they fail to see/know that.

I do agree, that Infinit and Last should have also went to the PS3 as well, but you have to think about, who and what they were working with at the time.

Sarcasm6321d ago

I agree, SE is a bunch of Full Retards.

And don't even believe the BS that FFXIII for the 360 hasn't already started production. For all we know, it's been in production before the announcement. Square-Enix should be in the dictionary as an example of "Liars" because instead of making any good games, that's what their good at.

Graphics Whore6321d ago

They keep releasing crap on the Xbox 360, so I don't see the need to release the same crap on the PS3.

You must not have been at TGS or E3 2008, since the Star Ocean 4 doesn't look as good as White Knight Story. I'm not talking about the FMV that running in-game engine models, I'm talking about the actual game itself from the battles to just simply running around the 'world' map.

Panipal20056321d ago

They didn't speak to too many Sony people, did they? Hmmm.

Parapraxis6321d ago (Edited 6321d ago )

Why would they?
Sony speaks very freely about their games and devlopment. And Famitsu has interviewed Sony Devs plenty of times about making games for the PS3 (obviously).
This article is to get a different perspective from leading game creators in the feild specifically on development for PS3.
It sheds a light on what non-Sony devs are doing that relates to the PS3.

Parapraxis6321d ago

Why would they interview Yoshinori Yamagishi (Star Ocean 4 guy) for a PS3 article if it's NOT coming to PS3?

Kain816321d ago

when SO4 dont come to PS3

---->There is a PS3 version 100%

PirateThom6321d ago

No one has ever said Star Ocean 4 is exclusive. When Microsoft were showing off Infinite Undiscovery, it was clearly labled exclusive, Star Ocean 4 never was.

Parapraxis6321d ago

Oh I know PirateThom , just making a point that nobody had yet ;)
Peace man.

(Side Note, where are your bubbles? I gave you one recently so I can't help ya, but you SHOULD have more.)

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle13d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde20d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

And then MK1 killed it again.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Relientk7722d ago

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga21d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199221d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga21d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac21d ago (Edited 21d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman21d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box22d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion21d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7221d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7521d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit21d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14921d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7721d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
