Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.
they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

There will be more made, Nintendo will not stop emulators or piracy. Look at Sony, so many of their games from PSP, PS2, 3, 4 etc emulated and shown on YT. Sony does not bother anyone. I think the reason is, they know that regardless of ROMs of their games people will still buy their games something that Nintendo still cannot understand. Example Mario All Stars on Switch, I have it physical but I also have the SM64 PC port with RT.
One shuts down or is forced to shut down there will always be a person or people to fill that void. And Nintendo seems to forget this when they sick the hounds on emu sites.
