Bah, that’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard. Compatability with Vista and older programs is very VERY good despite what people keep saying, I’ve never had any problems….Except with DOS apps….and even those work flawlessly on 32bit Vista. Adding an emulator to run other simple programs is such a waste of horsepower.

So Microsoft releases an application that, most people will agree, does something useful and is a worthwhile effort. But instead, the article tries to have a go at them anyway:

"However, it seems quite pointless to release it now with Windows 7 coming next year. Maybe they should begin developing technology for Windows 7 instead of the soon-to-be-obsolete Vista."

And then goes into a non-releated rant anyway.
Contrary to some beliefs, I'm not a major fan of Microsoft, but credit where credit is due, there's nothing wrong with the concept of this App or the App itself, so why the hate? And why would it be pointless for Windows 7? Microsoft has already stated that if something does (or doesn't) work in Vista, it'll work the same in Windows 7.
I personally have not had any problems with windows 7 at all, with regards to program compatibility (or Vista for that matter, but I've been lucky) but it's good to know there's a program out there that can help if I do, without having to install a Virtual Machine (although I guess that's what this is, really). Sort of a WINE for Windows.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
