State of Play | September 24, 2024

Tune in live for news and updates on more than 20 upcoming PS5 and PS VR2 games from studios around the world.

Obscure_Observer479d ago

So Grubb was spot on yet again just like he nailed the last State of Play schedule in May.

Hopefully there´ll be news regarding new AAA first party games from Playstation Studios.

Christopher479d ago

My expectations are bottom of the barrel, tbh. This generation for me has been almost entirely third-party.

RaidenBlack479d ago (Edited 479d ago )

just 1 unannounced AAA 1st-party teaser or even just title reveal ... that's it ... and that's still something
yea ... expectation's that low

Christopher479d ago

Oh, look, I'm still at the bottom of that barrel.

Obscure_Observer479d ago

"Oh, look, I'm still at the bottom of that barrel."

Ah come on. At least they had Ghost of Yotei finally announced. And it´s gonna be released in 2025 which is great!

Hitman PSVR2 and a new Sucker Punch Ghost game, more than enough for me.

Abnor_Mal479d ago

Same I’ve been waiting to play the new Hitman series, always wanted to play in vr but not on PSVR. Now that we have decent controllers on PSVR2 I’ll definitely purchase.

Ghost of Yotei looks good but a bit different from Tsushima, at first I couldn’t figure out if it was dlc for Rise of the Ronin until I rewind and saw the PlayStation first party logo.

I also like the look of the claymation game, which seems to be playable in vr which is a plus in my eyes.

RaidenBlack479d ago

hah ... wasn't too far off in my above comment, lol

Profchaos479d ago

Omg that's amazing I've been waiting for Hitman in psvr2 like most people I avoided the psvr1 version.

And got was probably my favourite first party game of the last few years next to Astro bot now so super keen

PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary for $999.99
PS5 Slim 30th Anniversary for $499.99
Portal 30th Anniversary for $199.99
DS Edge 30th Anniversary for $199.99
DS 30th Anniversary for $79.99

purple101479d ago

I reckon the portal will be more like $219

darthv72479d ago

Sony has not had higher pricing for accessories that are special edition compared to regular. That is why i feel the controllers (and portal) will likely be the same price as they are for non special edition. The systems will be more than a standard slim/pro which is why i priced them accordingly.

purple101479d ago

But the Astro controller was $10 more for metallic sides

Although since I think they may have raised price on all dualsense by $5 or something ?

Did you ever get the concord controller?

darthv72479d ago (Edited 479d ago )

I paid $79.99 for astro, it was concord that was $84.99 for some odd reason, and that was released before astro and the price increase. And yes i did finally get my concord controller, the same day as astro. i guess they decided to save on shipping and put them both in the same box after i called and complained about not getting concord when i was supposed to.

I think the previous price for the DS was $74.99 and now they go for $79.99, which seems to account for the $5 increase. that's what i see on direct.playstation.com

purple101479d ago

Omg you got it !

That’s amazing

And yes so sometimes they do have funny pricing.

I love Sony ever since I got a sports tape player. The big yellow waterproof one
And took music outside

But yeh, these prices are too much for controllers I feel

darthv72479d ago

Well shit... a fortnite controller. Now I have to get that one as well.

purple101479d ago

hahaha, you little terror you

refocusedman479d ago

lol 79 to 84 dollars for a control that'll last a couple of months due to dualsense drift. I've already gone through 4 controllers smh

darthv72479d ago

Im still using the same one that came with my 5... plus I dont actually use the special edition controllers I collect. I keep regular ones around for actual use.

Juiceup479d ago

I've been lucky with my 2 ps5 controllers but I'm still salty about the purple ps4 controller I bought on release. About a year later, with very little use, the left stick would suddenly act like it was pressed all the way without touching it. I thought it was cyberpunk when it started. Love the color but that's the worst controller I ever owned.

andy85479d ago

It won't be 999, that'd be a crazy good price. I'm expecting 1199

Juiceup479d ago

100 percent going to be over 1k. What's funny to me is that with such a limited supply and so few people able to own it, they should just make them a raffle to win instead of selling them. What's that, like 2 percent of what concord cost them?

refocusedman479d ago

that's impressive that you're still using your OG controller. I can't play a game without inadvertently running to the left side of the screen.

jznrpg478d ago (Edited 478d ago )

I have three launch controllers no issues at all and my kids use them. The 2 rules they have is wash your hands before using them and don’t set the controller on the analog stick side and they have been great. Analog controllers don’t need a lot of pressure to move but I’ve seen many people push them like they are stiff and I assume those people ruin their sticks fast

I expect them to announce AstroBot remaster :)

darthv72479d ago

Puty479d ago

I would love portable ps4

Best Adventure Game of 2025

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "While not carrying the same heft it enjoyed long ago, last year was one of the adventure genre's most commercially-successful years in this century. A Telltale-esque adventure eclipsing 3 million sales in three months would be the talk of the town were it not for another adventure game hurdling over 10 million sales in two. Though not all finalists reached those heights, each did share a greater amount of spotlight compared to similar titles within their respective sub-genres.

Past any sales thresholds and popularity contests, 2025 also deserves credit for its creativity; the last time our entire shortlist consisted exclusively of new IPs was for Best Adventure Game of 2020. An impressive year for the genre, with even greater potential ahead."
