Ars Technica writes, "I'm one of those users who has been using Vista with no problems ever since Microsoft gave out RTM copies to beta testers. However, as a writer, I've watched the media completely destroy the public opinion of Vista, leading many to stick with Windows XP or to look for alternatives, even before they had tried Vista. Even with SP1 out, many have not bothered trying Vista on recent hardware and therefore could not realize the fact that it really is worthy of being XP's successor. If I had to lay the blame on one party for Vista's poor public opinion, I wouldn't lay it on Microsoft, I wouldn't lay it on hardware companies incapable of producing good drivers, I wouldn't lay it on the fact that XP is so good, I would lay it on the media for blowing things out of proportions.
Yes, the problem is exaggeration (it's in this article's title too, in case you missed it); bloggers and journalists alike use their personal experiences to prove their point in their writing. The blame doesn't solely lie with us, as Vista was by no means perfect, but we did manage to amplify the problems beyond reason. And if the beta is anything to go by, Windows 7 is going to fly. This is, by far, the best beta operating system the software giant has ever released. The media has locked on to this, and is using exaggeration already, before Windows 7 is even ready for prime time."

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
I agree with everything said in this article.
Fact is Windows 7 will be better, but have many of the same problems.
"Windows 7 uses my ram!"
Windows 7 doesn't use fewer resources, it simply pushes things to the page file more aggressively. For those with a little knowledge, they will say "wow, less ram used, W7 is better." That's only half the picture. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and MS knows that doing something less than optimal is worth it to gain the support of those who know a little, but not enough.
Empty ram is wasted ram. When I play games Vista uses less than 300 MB of RAM. When I'm doing smaller things Vista might swell to take up 1.5 gigs, but that can all be cleared up in a split second (literally) once another program needs it.
"Windows 7 doesn't support my hardware, I even tried using the latest 2001 drivers."
"Windows 7 doesn't run this random program that wasn't programed to MS specifications."
"Windows 7 is slow because HP (or Sony, or Toshiba) installed their crap-ware suite and I don't know how to do a fresh install."
Windows 7 will be good, there is no reason not to wait at this point, but Vista is NOT as bad as many people idly suppose.
has anyone noticed that Windows 7's new features are a lot like Mac's OS X?? i mean, VERY similar.
Never used Mac OS X but if there similarities then i guess they learn from a good OS.
So far its running really smooth for me i forgot one day that i was using it i thought it was Windows XP
My only fear about Windows 7 is what Microsoft is planning to do as far as licensing. I thought I'd heard that they were going to do some stupid payment thing. Does anyone know anything more about that?
I think if that was the case they would lose alot of customers.
