Eric Wittmershaus at Press Democrat looks at Nintendo's claims that: "Industry annual revenues jumped 19% in 2008 over 2007, and Nintendo products were responsible for 99% of those additional retail dollars." and notices that, profits and revenues are not necessarily the same and Nintendo is not that good at maths.

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.
Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.
My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.
Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.
Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

New report from Skillsearch found that 22% of those surveyed had been laid off within the past 12 months.

It's a step forward for Stop Killing Games.

Just like MS includes the 360s for repair in their "shipped" figures and Sony talks about the "family" of products rather than referring directly to the PS3.
They all do it. I've said this many, many times before. While many of us here have grown up on games and the fond memories they evoke - across a variety of platforms: MS, Sony and Ninty are not your friends.
They are corporations whose interest lays solely in our money. Be a consumer, not a brand loyalist.
PR will give you headaches if you think too much about it.

You know, the company that jumped from 22 Million sold in 1 week to 25 Million sold in the following week,to 28 Million sold in the following Month?
What about questioning their numbers instead of Nintendos slightly off Calculations? What about questioning Microsofts "internal figures" as they put it?Oh now I remember, something about not biting the hand that feeds you :)
Wake me up when the Video game industry isn't afraid of Microsoft.
...That's no good.
nintendo didn't make 99% of the growth rather their growth covered the losses of sony. and the amount of xboxs growth is underrated. meh.. fair enough?
