I want physical and I want the complete game. It's that simple.

If you can't/won't offer that on launch, I'll shrug and wait 2-3 years until you ARE offering what I want, or I have lost interest by then. Either way, I'm not paying 70-80 bucks for digital-only or incomplete releases.

UltimateOwnage174d ago

Agreed. And if I can’t get a full fat physical copy for my console of choice (usually Switch) I just buy a copy on Steam once it’s on a few discount.

thorstein174d ago (Edited 174d ago )

Over the last year, I bought many games. All of them indie and I spent in the $39.99- $59.99 range brand spanking new.

AAA publishers are greedy.

Arc Raiders was $40.

JEECE173d ago

Yi-Long said "I want physical and I want the complete game" and you pointed to Arc Raiders. So I guess Yi-Long can buy Arc Raiders on disc, right?

Rebel_Scum174d ago

Prices are getting crazy now for new games but not 16 bit era level crazy.

1nsomniac174d ago (Edited 174d ago )

Don’t know how this whole16 bit crazy prices theory gets so out of hand. As someone who’s owned almost every console/computer since the late ‘80s. Ignoring the 3DO, there was like a hand full of games that attempted to sell at ludicrous prices and it didn’t take long for them to return to normal.

Today’s prices are far higher and widely used. The industry has never been worse.

UltimateOwnage174d ago

Square’s games like Chrono Trigger on the SNES and many of the N64 games being $72 comes to mind. A great era defined by PS1 bringing prices back down and massively expanding the number of games available.

Rebel_Scum174d ago

Megadrive games ranged from $160-$240 NZD whereas now for triple A they’re $100-$130 NZD. Its not a theory.

Profchaos173d ago

Looking at any gaming catalogue from the early 90s pretty much lays it out with prices are insane not even adjusting for inflation

HyperMoused172d ago

Agreed, currently trying to get a CiB cop of turtles in toime for snes PAL....dammmnnnnn thats a spicy meat-a-ball, cheapest i saw was $880 all the way to multiple thousands

lodossrage174d ago

Yeah Rebel_Scum is actually right here. A hand full of games had insane prices. UltimateOwnage already mentioned 1 with Chrono Trigger. I'll mention one I remember, Street Fighter 2. That was a $70 game when it first came out.

But 1nsomniac makes a good point, those prices WILL come down in a hurry once enough people speak with their wallet. Prime example, just look at Microsoft's $80 game backtrack.

rlow1173d ago

Well that may be true but the big difference is inflation. Back then most things were affordable, meat didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Not so today, not only that but consoles prices have risen and remain high. With AI industry gobbling up all available ram…..the future doesn’t look bright.

Profchaos173d ago

At least those 16 but era games had an excuse for the pricing the additional chips like the super fx chip added memory mappers etc were not cheap and could cost a ton to manufacture over a standard cart. It's half the reason why Sega abandoned enhanced cart chips like virtua racing and went for the 32x

Fonsecap174d ago

Jeez how's that possible with so many quality AAAA games we had for the last 5 years or so... I don't get gamers at all, they don't know quality even if it was thrown to their faces. Seriously though, I guess what I was hoping for is finally happening, people are starting to "vote" with their wallets, and that's a good sign, I guess

gold_drake174d ago

its definitely the price and the lack of physical options. but id say price is a bigger factor

MrDead174d ago

MS buying up massive parts of the industry and then being one of the abetters of the $80 game doesn't help.

I don't own the new Doom because of the insane price, it's not worth $80. I own every Doom game and have always brought them on release (except the first two) , not anymore.

DustMan170d ago

You are missing absolutely nothing with Doom: The Dark Ages. Bought and paid for reviews. Game is mid as hell.

I wonder who the nut jobs are that will get this. Seriously Ubisoft isn't worth a sub and having this along side ps+ y'all must be rich.

Agent75586d ago

It's like in the UK, you pay for broadband, a TV licence, then there's the likes of Sky, Virgin and BT offering subscription TV. On top of that, there's Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, Paramount, Discovery Plus and ITV X to name a few. Has always made me wonder how people can afford it and also have the time to watch TV.

BeHunted819d ago (Edited 819d ago )

Disclaimer: It's always cheaper purchasing the entire Ubisoft Game Edition when they're on sale.

OtterX819d ago

Exactly. Ubisoft prices plummet soo fast and hit some incredible lows. I probably wouldn't own every Assassin's Creed game if it weren't for the dirt cheap sales they hit.

Agent75586d ago

Most SEGA games drop in price pretty quick.

OtterX586d ago

@Agent75 lol how is this article still open for comments 233 days later?

Agent75586d ago

I agree. I'm waiting for Space Marine 2 dropping to £10 used.

jznrpg819d ago

This service is for the severely uninformed. These games are in bargain bin why rent them monthly?

Profchaos819d ago

Exactly you can pickup most of their backlog for 5 bucks a pop with change I've seen some older titles go for as little as $1 like watch dogs

Why, do people really want this. 17.99 lol ubisoft slow down. Should be 10 at most

fr0sty870d ago

They want WAY more than PS+ Premium costs, and this site is trying to spin it as if PS fans are missing out by not getting ripped off by Ubisoft...

Jin_Sakai870d ago

Yea I’d rather not have 15 different subscription services.

Christopher869d ago

10 years from now: Why doesn't PS7 have all 10 options for game subscriptions services? Why is it still focusing on selling games!?

fr0sty869d ago (Edited 869d ago )

I think the game subscription service bubble will have popped by then, just like it's popping right now for movie and show subscription services. It's evolving the exact same way... A couple services pop up that offer it all, the content providers start getting greedy and decide to launch their own services and begin pulling content from the original services to make it exclusive to their own, people get sick of having to have 10 different subs pulling $100 a month out of their accounts, and it all goes belly up.

shadowT871d ago

17.99 per month only for Ubisoft games..

TwoPicklesGood870d ago

Not sure why it’s not on PS but hopefully that changes. The more options the better.

Zeke68870d ago

The less subscriptions in my life the better in my opinion.

Mr Logic870d ago

It existing as an option does not force you to subscribe.

Zeke68870d ago (Edited 870d ago )

@Mr Logic
I know :) I just meant I dislike the fact that "they" shove tv, movie, game and whatnot-subscriptions down our throats. The endresult for me and my wife at least, is that we start to avoid them altogether.
So in the long run these companies actually loose money on us. I just wish more people would boycott it so we can get rid of 90% of the crap ones out there. (subscriptions that is) :)

Mr Logic870d ago

@ Zeke
I get where you're coming from. Besides PS+ and Prime (for the shipping) I haven't had any subscription for 5+ years.

GamingSinceForever870d ago (Edited 870d ago )

Why you got downvoted is beyond comprehension.

ModsDoBetter870d ago

N4G - the hive mind see it as a negative light on Papa PlayStation when @Two said they're not sure why it's not on PS. Anything that can be taken even as slight criticism is downvoted by the drones.

MrNinosan870d ago

It's enough with the free package we get with Ubisoft.
Would never pay 18$/month for this, that's way more than I pay for PS+ Premium.
