The question now is whether Destiny 2's future plans can get at least some of the departed players to return to the game.

PlayStation has scaled back expectations for Bungie after reassessing Destiny 2 development costs, highlighting the risks tied to live-service games.
Honestly Thank Goodness!! Yet another good sign of a possibility of returning to what made them great and undoing Jim Tyans trend chasing love service gamble. Still gotta wait and see just what direction they're going but this is a good sign in my book that they're not betting it all on live service anymore
It may take a while but maybe they are finally learning. Good! Now stop with the live service crap.
They say this and then immediately release news of the Horizons co-op game that will definitely be a Live Service game.

Patch notes for Update 9.5.0.5, the one about Equilibrium fixes and more, are now available.

Paul Tassi and asking somebody to please think of the children when it comes to Destiny: a classic
As far as I know they're not doing future expansions after Final shape despite critical receptions and good sales actually. The reports were the sales weren't enough. They'll be able to hang in there with updates and seasonal stuff, with out real new expansions I fail to see how this game will survive.
This game came out 2017. I think the did a good job of keeping the player base for a game that is 7 years old already. I jumped on last week and it’s changed so much. I was lost for almost an hour until I decided to look it up.
It’s time to move on bungie.

They need to shift to destiny 3. Apparently it hasn't been greenlit over concerns the destiny average player is too old (about 28) this is mins boggling to me. Ofc they are. The game is almost 8 years old. Younger players aren't going to jump into a game with 8 years of history- generally speaking, there's other games out they might start playing destiny 3 and stick with it though. Equally older players likely have less time for games but more money to spend so if they are captured by your ecosystem and game - surely that is a good thing.
