I bought GTA5 but never really got into it. I just get bored of GTA somehow after a few hours.

RDR2 on the other hand is the best game I have ever played.. so mesmerizing from beginning to that platinum trophy pop and beyond.. a glorious masterpiece that redefined open world after GTA5.

Reverse for me, red dead undoubtedly pretty and attention to detail second to none but I haven't felt the need to play it more than once. At times it was a bit slow. Where as I've platinumed GTA 5 3 times.

P_Bomb526d ago

I still see ppl on my friendlist playing them. GTAVI is gonna sell something fierce.

shinoff2183526d ago

I think it'll set records. I think there's gonna be major hype. Mayne they can do a midnight release in my area. Last one I remember was gta 5 back on ps3,valentines day night.

Ninver525d ago

It'll be funny if GTA6 sell less than 5

Sciurus_vulgaris526d ago

GTA V had a budget of 265 million, while RDR 2’s budget was between 370-500 million. Rockstar Games is one of the few studios that can invest so extensively in projects without fearing a lack of return.

GamerRN525d ago

There is always a fear. I don't believe Take Two tests on the laurels of their last game. They seem like they keep progressing forward.

anast525d ago (Edited 525d ago )

GTAV was between some numbers too. I could say GTAV was between 100mil and 1billion... Read Dead numbers range from 130 mil. to 600 mil. this isn't a statement that will get anywhere. The estimated development budget for RDR2 was reported to be around 200 mil. That 265 number is for developing and publishing. The price of marketing has skyrocketed. That 265 million is 427 million today.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I bought GTA5 on launch day (ps3) and to this day have yet to beat it. The game just kinda bored me. A lot of time has passed though, I wonder how much my opinion would change if I played it now. I'll give it another go, one day...

Pyrofire95524d ago

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've probably only played through half the story.

Rockstar launches official marketplace for mods

Rockstar has launched an official marketplace for "every server and every player" to buy mods: Cfx Marketplace.

I wonder how much of this isn't just taken work of others who have modded for free.

Edit: Also, great way for R* to take popular ideas and build them into GTAVI based on demand.

fr0sty10h ago

What I see happening here is, R* is going to ban mods in GTA6 UNLESS you buy them from the marketplace and R* then gets a cut of that sale.

ActualWhiteMan13h ago

Ah, perfect timing with them taking down the Bully online fan mod. Greedy a$$ company.

Christopher10h ago

It's okay as long as they get a cut of the money.

fr0sty10h ago

Expect R* to force it on you.

Snookies124h ago

Yep, right there with you. I'll happily donate to a mod creator if it looks really cool, or if I enjoy it. But expecting payment up front? Nope, not touching it.

IanTH9h ago(Edited 9h ago)

I'm not entirely sure how to read this, as it doesn't seem exactly like an exact parallel to Bethesda's paid mods shenanigans.

Rather than single player stuff, this appears to be aimed solely on Cfx Servers. From what I've gleaned, apparently Rockstar bought the Cfx mod team several years ago, coming a few years after weird contentions led them to ban a few of their members. Ultimately, the question is if they plan to keep this contained to only online/servers.

I have to guess to a degree yes. It'd be pretty hard to "force" paid mods for single player when modding files locally on your own machine, but much easier for servers they'll control. So perhaps this is their soft launch ahead of GTA6 online and they'll clamp down more tightly on non-official servers going forward? Ever since they've become a 1 or 2 property studio, I haven't really cared much for Rockstar stuff, so I'm not entirely up on everything surrounding this. Sounds like it has the potential to be problematic further down the line, but right now fairly easy to ignore...I think lol.

Kotick Made $155 million from MS in the buyout, the little b*tch needs to stop whining. Thanks to this Microslop deal and massive industry consolidation thousands upon thousands of devs and other workers lost their livelihoods. This greedy piggie pervert needs shut up and f-off.

PlayStation Store’s top downloads of 2025

O'Dell Harmon Jr. writes: "Before we say goodbye to 2025, let’s take a look back and see what were the most downloaded games of the year. It was a great time for sports, shooters, and some new PlayStation VR2 games. Sports favorites topped the charts in US/Canada and EU, with NBA 2K26 and EA Sports FC26, respectively.

Juggernaut GTA V found a home in the top three for both regions, with new 2025 release Battlefield 6 claiming second place in the US. Fortnite took top place for free-to-play games, and Beat Saber continues its PS VR2 success."

FH5 4th in Europe compared to North America 14th. Not surprising.

LucasRuinedChildhood1d 18h ago

I think it shows how shortsighted it was for Sony to let go of Evolution and not get them to make some sort of competitor (open world Driveclub?) 10 years ago.

bionicstar1d 11h ago (Edited 1d 11h ago )

its a hard bet to make. hindsight is always 20/20.

Christopher1d 8h ago

After Driveclub's reception, hard to say it would have done well enough to compete. It's easy to dream of such a thing, but to make it happen? It's taken how long for CoD to be dethroned? And it was dethroned by Hogwart's Legacy and has gained it right back just the next year.

It’s funny to watch the only games EU and USA agree on was Minecraft and back ops 7 both regions on 6 and 7 spot respectively other than that FIFA rules EU

gold_drake1d 9h ago

I would like to see a list that has both free to play and paid games together, but at least we have this.

To this day GTA5 is a top downloaded game and it makes me wonder if the industry is really ready for GTA6. I imagine almost nothing else will sell during that game's release window.
