XFX Launches First Graphics Card with 1.5GB Memory

XFX has introduced XFX GeForce 9600 GSO 1.5GB Far Cry 2 Edition graphics card in India. This bundle carries a hefty price of Rs. 10,000 with the game Far Cry 2 included, of course.

XFX's GeForce 9600 GSO FC2 edition features 96 shader processors with GPU clocked at 580MHz and a whopping 1.5GB GDDR2 memory! This flavor of GeForce 9600 GSO supports up to 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution and has dual-link DVI support. This graphics card also has DirectX 10 support and DirectX Shader Model 4.0 support.

With decent-looking configurations, gamers can play any latest game and scale up to 2560 x 1600 resolution and get over 40FPS frame rate, which is nice.

That's about $200 USD. Not a bad price at all.

1.5 GB may seem like a lot but it is only DDR2.

While the 9600GSO is a good budget card for 60~70$, it's absolutely pointless to have 1.5GB of memory on such a weak card, especially for 200$ when you can get a GTX 260 or 4870 for sub 200$.

Although I shouldn't be saying this (as a 4870 X2 owner), right now it is of better value. It is cheaper (at least in Canada) and benches higher. On paper though, the 4870 X2 is a stronger card, but Nvidia usually has better developer support and with their current drivers the card is performing the best. The 4870 X2 will become significantly better once a driver update to allow quick-swapping between both GPUs is released (currently it accesses 2 separate pockets of 1GB GDDR5 memory rather than a conjoined 2GB GDDR5 cluster, which it will be able to do in the future).

The VRAM is more than necessary and the card is overpriced due to it. 9600 vanilla version is cheaper than this. Why not get 4870 X2 than this.
Most of the time here in India these type of overpriced graphics card are sold last time I purchased a card it was 6200 with 512MB and it was
near the price of 6600.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit38d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing38d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9238d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
