For all I know Square-Enix has always stated that is was THEIR decision to bring the game over to 360! Too much whine I think from Playstation 3 supporters!
And to be honest, did ANYONE actually believed that FF13 would have an NA/EU release 2009? No I dont think so!

And by the way, Sony supporters is already used to wait for games/services anyway etc on PS3...So this shouldn´t be so hard on you ;D

Well after Square saw Trusty Bell on PS3 in Japan which sole the HALF as the x360 version, although the install base is 4 times bitter.. they decided to release them both on the same time, to risk the same effect.

Iam proud to see that nearly ALL DEVS see the x360 as a very important console on the market, knowing where the money comes from!

Iam sure SOny will have to make a bundle with FF13 to reach 360 sales without a bundle, LOL.

WIthout bundles (EVERY PS3 EXCLUSIV) SOny would not even reach 1 Million with LBP, lol. Resi2.. 150k 1st week USA, haha.

edit: jok3r. chances are they did pay them because of the fact that its coming out on both at the same time. i think if it was up to se wouldn't you wanna get your game out there as soon as possible (ps3 version) and then bring out the 360 version when its ready. either way both console gamers get to play it. but there must be some ms influence to make them hold back the ps3 version in order for both 2 release together...

it surely is SE's fault and none of MS's. Its their decision to earn more money by porting it to another system to get a larger base.

FF13 will prob get released Q3 or Q4. and it will take a good 8-12 months to translate. To me that sounds right... look at WKC, released end of last year in jpn, prob get released end of this year elsewhere.

It's down to both MS and SE doing the deal they did but "fault" isn't the right word to put on it. The bad thing about it, and I'm looking at SE here really is how late they changed the thing around-way after three years of telling people it would be PS3 exclusive and making them buy a PS3 as a result. If I'd bought a console for one of their games in that manner I'd be a little miffed, tbh.
The GTA4 thing isn't the same at all as it was ALWAYS coming to the PS3 and the delay was solely down to Rockstar and their PS3 team dragging their feet-as unavoidable delay where nobody was cajoled into buying a particular piece of hardware. Besides 360 owners shouldn't moan about GTA when originally the series was PS2(on consoles) exclusive for ages and now MS has bought them the DLC as well.
Finally, we have no idea when SE will actually get the localisation for US/Europe finished along with the 360 version. I would be AMAZED if it doesn't get put back til very late 2010 or even the year after seeing as they said they won't even start it until the PS3 version is finished and given the way they drag their feet in normal circumstances would anyone be surprised? I always said it would be late this year at the very earliest and now even that looks like it was wildly optimistic and I can't see FF13Vs getting to the west til 2012. Esp if FF13 does really well on 360-would SE and MS want to miss the cash from the sister release? Money, as we all know talks and MS are more likely to buy existing things than put anything into making new ideas come to fruition.

By a show of hands, who can tell me who is to blame for the PS2 exclusive FFXII taking over 6 months to reach North America after release in Japan? While we are at it, can someone explain why PS2 exclusive FFXII took almost a year after Japanese release to hit PAL regions? Here's a hint, localization takes more than a couple days and a case of beer to complete. We can all blame Microsoft for the delay or we can look at history and see that it takes considerable time to localize a game of this size and calibur.

Devs are going under. Much of it has to do with the damage caused by kids that run their mouths first and think later. Worse yet there are the kids that simply refuse to think. The system is broken and we are to blame.

This is actually a pretty pathetic blog post. The old ad-hominem "Microsoft just got too greedy" is funny considering that this is a third party game published by a third party publisher. There's nothing holding it back except Square-Enix, so I think that it is more accurate to say that Square-Enix "just got too greedy."

All conspiracy theories aside, this really was a decision that Square-Enix made themselves. If the game is finished for the PS3 then there's nothing holding back the release except Square-Enix. I wouldn't doubt it if Microsoft paid money or otherwise applied pressure to have a simultaneous launch, but Square-Enix could have turned it down and released the PS3 version first with a 360 port to come later. They sold out, so blame them.

I blame Microsoft. But since I don't have a PS3 and do have a 360 I'm glad, thanks Microsoft, another sweet franchise for moi to enjoy, and completely out of the blue. All Microsoft have done is bring this game to 28 million more people, if you can't accept that you don't deserve the luxury of gaming. Surely expanding the fanbase of a good franchise is a good thing? Just cos you've got to wait doesn't mean it's a bad thing. I'm glad it's coming out at the same time so the experience doesn't get ruined from people completing it way before it's out.

That is still 8 months till US/EU gets it, like it was, for Final fantasy 12 and the US but ad EU. That's if, it is released in August(The earliest is my estimation) for Japan.

I think the choice to port the game to 360 is just stupid and a waste of money and time. FF XIII is going to sell like crap on the 360. Almost everyone who wants next-gen RPGs has a PS3 or will be getting one for FF XIII and Versus XIII. All next-gen RPGs for the 360 have sold like crap, with Blue Dragon being the only one to even break 500,000. What was SE thinking when porting it over to 360, they're just gonna end up losing more money, because the money earned from the 360 version will not make up for the cost of making it. Just Stupid. I hope they cancel the 360 one so we can just get it over to the West faster.

Why couldn’t the finished version just get released first and tack on some extras onto the later version? The reason is because that wasn’t part of the deal when Microsoft dropped millions into Square Enix’s lap.

Square Enix is equally to blame for this blatant disregard for the fan’s patience considering that we have been waiting for this game since 2006. I love my Xbox 360 and I have played it to death many times (literally), but I am no tool.

Because if they weren't in the equation, FF XIII would have been out this year and not 2010. Trailers where shown that said Exclusive to PS3 and then all of a sudden at E3 coming to the 360.

It might be a business move but it I'm sure that a lot of games in Japan aren't happy since they had to wait a year longer then they needed to have this game out.

And by showing, people aren't really eager to get this game anymore because of the delay. IMO SE has lost a lot of respect for this.

Honestly this is nothing new a Square game being pushed back yet again, the hype will die off a bit more. Nut pushing back the game for another system is wrong. I can understand fin tuning the game and fixing the odd bug but if the PS3 version is done release it. But till FF13 is release its White Knight all the way

First off, this article is by Mike Ferro. I didn't actually even look, but I saw the name of the site and read the headline and know it's that A$$-Clown. If MS gave Square a big check, Square could have used the money to start making the 360 version while still finishing the PS3 version. But they didn't. Which leads me to believe Square needed the money to actually help with finishing the game. Square has claimed for sometime now that the game is nearly finished. I guess they're just holding onto it for fun. The Japan release isn't expected until the end of the year. That means they're near 10 months away from going gold and it's nobodies fault but Squares. If the American version comes out in April that would be about normal. About the same difference as when we America got GT:Prologue. Don't get your fanboy panties all in a bunch.

Now, I hate Microsoft as much as the next guy, but the one thing I can say about Microsoft that I can't say about Sony is that Microsoft is doing everything in their power to secure great titles for it's user base... Sony, doing nothing ! Where do I want to put my support ? A company who says absurd things like "We don't fund development" or a company who spends the money to get as many great titles as they can ?

In my opinion, Microsoft understands that to make money, you have to spend money, and lots of it... Sony is arrogant and thinks that people will flock to them because of their "Brand Power". I think that Sony has done irreparable damage to their name by screwing their userbase with half-assed, poorly implemented features and a lackluster library of games.

And frankly, Microsoft's tactic (if they did buy it) was an excellent business move because many were people (that I know) were going to buy a Playstation 3 solely for this game, now they don't have too. Edit - In case you idiotic fanboys who say 'blame Microsoft' didn't realize, this move to the Xbox 360 was great for Square-Enix, that way, they won't have FFXIII flop (with only a million or two) sold. On Xbox 360, it is guaranteed to sell more copies than on Playstation 3, look at the major multi-platform titles that have come out, they have always sold more on the Xbox 360. Or do you not want to see Final Fantasy XIV?

I don't blame anybody for anything. Was i looking forward to FFXIII this year? Yes I was. But I have so many unplayed games right now with more to buy that I could care less now that it won't be out this year. I am a gamer first and formost I play games I don't care about the "behind he scenes" buisness tactics. So Microsoft wanted a piece of the FF love let them have it. FF is not really a system selling in the US like it is in Japan. It looks great just like all FF games do, but only the faithful JRPG fans buy it. If they are on the 360 or PS3 who cares. Focus on the games that you have and plan to buy this year and don't worry about stuff you can't control. PS3 fans get Killzone 2, Uncharted 2, and Heavy Rain. 360 fans get Star Ocean: The Last Hope, Halo Wars, and Ninja Blade. Just the 6 games list are great looking to me. If you happen to have both systems really good year for you 8).

How do you know the delay was soley caused by Microsoft? You don't know if there may have been hinderances in the dev department. And games get delayed all the time. Look at Killzone 2, Halo 3, Gran Turismo 5, all Blizzard games to date, etc. Just be patient and you'll get your game.

This is what I don't understand every time.Something that comes out that stalls a game from coming out one side says "stop crying" the other side says it is "all your fault". Do you remember when sequels,rpgs and so on came on time. I thought the reason was they were running low on the development money given to the budget. I couldn't care less either way, its probably going to be garbage.

... so weak. All i have to say is Metal gear solid 4 simultaneous worldwide release. That game has more dialogue than probably every game ever made put together, yet they were able to release the game localised for every region on the same day.

So the FF13 delay is down to SE being lazy or SE wearing the MS money hat. Before anyone says "well the past final fantasy's took a year for localisation", im sorry but this is next gen, there's now a lot more money and production values going in to titles and so it is expected that games should simultaneously release. With Mgs4 they had a team do the english audio and subtitles while the game was still in dev meaning it was ready to be added in to the game, in time for all versions to go gold. Its painfully obvious SE is out of touch with the modern gamer as they still revert to this backward way of doing things, or a certain company is just paying them to keep the ps3 version of the shelves.

I don't care that the 360 has FF13 i just wish that SE and M$ had done their little "deal" right at the beginning of its dev cycle instead of jumping on board 3/4 of the way through. It has truly prolonged the wait for this title which is the shame for us all.

I blam Sony for not securing FFXIII as an Exclusive PS3 game but like Sony said, they don't need games to sale their machine. I blame them for coming out with such a high price point, that they are keeping themselves in last place. Which, in-turn is making devs/Pubs look in the compettion's direction to make up/make more revenue. I blame also, for being to arrogant in the beginning. Sony had 120million people ready to purchase a PS3 and they turn around and give them the middle finger so to speak.

I blame Microsoft for not having FFXIII go multiplat early on in the game, to prevent this crap from happening. I blame Microsoft for being to determined to beat Sony. I blame them for trying to make a quick buck, instead of trying to make an honest buck.

I blame Square for always sticking with the most popular console. (I already know why they aren't jumping fullforce on the Wii bandwagon just yet) I blame them for having 3 of top RPGs and not one of them has been released on next-gen consoles and each console has been out for over two-years now.

A check is NOT a gun. MS paid them to delay the PS3 version prior to last years E3, SE accepted and the rest is histo..er Future, as in 2010. I was pissed at first but it is what it is and I'm over it.

blaming solves nothing - here are the facts:

Square enix has been taking their god-d#mned sweet time with everything lately, except unlike Blizzard, their latest games aren't the sweetest on the market. Judging from the FF13 and VS trailers, these games look sweet, and yeah, maybe porting it over to the 360 caused a delay, but what the heck is a few months on top of an initial teaser trailer released in the last part of the freakin decade, especially considering that SE isn't even sure yet when the game is coming out. After april 2010 is freakin ambiguous as hell

Microsoft essentially has made Sony and the Sony Defense Force their biatch. A year ago, mention the chance of Final Fantasy XIII coming to the 360 and the Sony Defense Force would have laughed at the notion, citing Sony's own shares in the software giant that is Squeenix.

A year later and the Sony Defense Force is sobbing like a bunch of 4 year old girls about big bad MS delaying Final Fantasy XIII. The same FFXIII that stood no chance of ever appearing on the 360. Yep, Micorosft calls the shots now over the company that just a generation ago laughed at the competition. GUESS WHO IS LAUGHING NOW

the thing that would p*ss me off more is getting it on multiple dvds, it would be ok if it was the mid ninties on pc, but this is coming out in 2010 when we are all supposedly getting rid of all physical media and downloading straight to hdd.

anyway i hope they havent comprimised to fit it all on dvd.
