Guild Wars announces plans for 2009

The team at Guild Wars has just released their newest developer update, which explains ArenaNet's plans with the game throughout 2009. This was something that was alluded to in community manager Regina Buenaobra's wiki journal last week, and speculated upon in the major Guild Wars forums. Now the word is out, and it seems promising for the majority of Guild Wars fans.

only problem I have with this is the content update but seems its good in the long run
can't wait for expansion

If there would be any mmo that would fit a console..this one is it. There arent many skills in your main action bar and I really cant think about anything that would hinder its gameplay.

Announce console release!!!!! lol

I think ANet is great for continuously listening to fans and doing proper updates. I own the entire GW series (campaigns and expansion) and have been playing since its first week release in 2005 but I'm ready to move onto GW2 though if it ever releases.

I want some news on GW2's progress unless it's an extremely huge GW change such as option for a persistent world, etc. Now that would be a great update for many players not to mention it would renew any interest in the GW series. People might actually start buying all campaigns and luring in new gamers to the series. At its current state these type of updates don't mean a whole lot as the population and interest have dwindled. Either way something is still better than nothing.

I gotta semi-agree with you funky, I was a long time Guild Wars player since the first Betas, and I still log on once in a while to play around (I am one of the freaks who was a huge PvE fan). I had stopped playing consistently about midway through last year, as I am a gamer first, so I moved on to more games.

I am looking forward to GW2 though, and really hope they release some information. It's been almost TWO years now since they unveiled some concepts and plans in PC Gamer, and they have been 100% radio silent ever since. Here's hoping to some new info, especially some clarification on the "Semi-Persistent" game world they are trying to invent. I always thought Guild Wars was the most innovative of the MMO scene, and I think they can continue to do so.

this is the best mmo with perfect balance of classes and skills for pvp, unlike some other mmos whch take zero skill all gear for pvp

To be fair, there are also human made games that release and lack any fun at all either.

jznrpg33d ago

But all of the great games have been made by humans

One is by choice, the other is a feature.

Guild Wars 2 been playing for 14yrs, 1st beta. This is just one company I support, Arenanet and NCSoft, even though I torrent, there are a few PC companies I will buy from. "PlayStation’s Horizon MMO spin-off, Horizon Steel Frontiers." I feel this will be good, NCSoft is a good developer/publisher.

It’s a tool. Use it elevate things and get it done faster. I’m sorry but not every game made by humans is good. If this can help things, then I fully embrace it.

Beginning December 3, Guild Wars Reforged will launch on Steam and Windows PC." - ArenaNet.

I played the first beta of GW1 way back in May 2004, still playing it sometimes today, now I'm mostly in GW2. I will definitely go back in GW on Dec. 3 to see the improvements 😎

TGG_overlord192d ago

Sweet =) I hope that you (and others) will have a great time with this one.

jznrpg192d ago

Put it on console and I’ll play it again. I’d didn’t do much of the endgame stuff it any at all (it’s been so long I don’t remember what I did besides level up) Since it has controller support it would be perfect for console

TGG_overlord191d ago

That sounds like a good idea imo, but I don't know if the devs have such plans. Maybe if this one turns out really well for PC, they might go down that road.

Michiel1989192d ago

no fucking way. I really hope that they give "new" servers, so not every new player starts playing when the veterans literally have endless piles of gold (platinum in this case) and honestly as a veteran I want a reset as well. I can't believe this is actually happening. Pleaseeeeeeeeeee be good. Christmas comes early this year

TGG_overlord191d ago

I don't recall that the devs have said anything about the matter as of yet, but we shall soon find out since the drop shall be done this December 3rd.

Michiel1989191d ago

Yeah looked around a bit and there is no reset or alternative sadly. I'm still super excited though also because they said that they will continue with some kind of updates (it's probably not content updates). Was planning to play some again in february but that will become december

mkis007192d ago

Here's hoping gw2 gets some enhancements soon. I want better draw distances.

TGG_overlord191d ago

I bet that's coming as well ;)

Travesty191d ago

I loved GuildWars.. back in the the day I would play this countless hours.. I was young and didn’t want to pay for a subscription like WoW.. My friends were stuck playing RuneScape and I thought this was next level content.

I play most my games on console now.. so I kind of wished they could bring GW2 to it. I haven’t played that game in years either.

Been there since day 1, and the first beta, same with GW2. 20 years and they never said oh now we need to charge a monthly fee, and they only made Guild Wars no other games. I'm going to assume GW3 will have the same business model.

jznrpg396d ago

I got to 50 I believe but never got into it very much.It was fun but all of my friends were still playing EQ. Good to see it’s still going though.
