Nobody said any of these things about Halo 3. It sold millions, it got high remarks, despite being over hyped none of the media called this out just because it's a 360 game.

I agree with the article. I have the same sentiment towards Killzone 2 and my expectations have been tampered. I'm treating it as a new franchise/I.P instead of a sequel. Specially since you know, i never played the original. I expect it to be a very solid, fun game. With solid online.

i actually am excited that killzon2 is getting hyped as much as it is. not even MGS4 (as great as it is) was not hyped like this game is. as far as the game not being a system seller, that is ludicrous. people can just look at the game and see that it's graphically the best looking game out. even MS is showing some concern over it's launching. (notice how the downloadable content for GTAIV and Halo 3 are coming out during the same time frame) i dont kno MS seems to be nervous to me. KZ2 needs this buzz, i'm sick of 360 commercials for multiplatform games. It's aggravating that people dont really mention that. especially for games that are identical in everyway. sony needs to pump some more money into advertising there games. everyones heard of a ps3. people need to hear about games coming out. i dont want to have to check online to see the next launch for a sony title.
As much money that's been pumped into this game, sony wont let it be graphically anything but spectacular. Guerrilla did the smart thing by listening to beta testers, making sure the MP servers can handle the surge that it will befall them at launch and givin it a COD feel with their own flavor. You can't really knock them for that COD4 set the standard for FPS, and KZ2 has to make moves to transcend it. The most important time for KZ2 will be the first day and week. when the reviews are out and people are actually playing the game. it has to deliver on what it promises and as of right now Guerrilla is doing good by stopping the fake rumors, like the co-op patch. That shows they have there ears to what's being said, and i like that they give a valid explanation. Also, there hasn't been anything stated about KZ2, that you haven't seen in trailers, or beta testers haven't experienced for themselves.
bottom line, (i kno i'm rambling) but ps3 needs this game to be the best game on the market at launch. they need it to save face. it would quiet the ps3 hate community a lil bit. lol i'm not asking for alot of silence just a lil bit of respect. xbots have this notion that there's nothing out for the ps3 and it's far from true now. (dont read that thinking i'm a ps3fanboy, i own and play both systems)
I get into heated discussion all the time about ps3 and 360. my thing is get whatever system that plays the game you wanna play. plain and simple. as cheap as 360 is nowaday's it's a good buy. When I try to tell people that the PS3 has its faults(primarily that PSN was not comparable to XBOX live for so long) and the 36o has its faults, people dont want to hear that. What do you call this? Its called HYPE. It makes the pre-orders go up, makes people wait outside like its a system, or Tickle-me-Elmo releasing. Yes you know what game I'm talking about. The AlMIGHTY HALO3! Now this article says Halo3 was over-hyped. And some people are saying, "We wanna protect it(KZ2) from being traded in...blah,bla,bla." CUT THE BULL! There are no impactful articles about the trade-ins idiots...It was still counted as a sale. Companies are in it to make money. To this day there are people who will tell you that NO GAME on the PS3 compares to HALO3. You can blasts them with valid argument after argument, only for them to land the big bomb "well why didn't it SELL?" People tell me that all the time; doesn't matter whether it was the biggest traded in game in the world or not, People bought it! They waited outside in the rain, cold, snow, lines stretched all around the stores for hours. all very true, I just don't understand the hype because all i can think of is killzone 1... which was highly over hyped as "a halo killer" then it came out. It was a subpar FPS that kinda sucked. I'm seeing similar fervor for killzone 2 now. I am just waiting for it to come out so everyone will be dissapointed by the unimaginative story and repetitiveness of the gameplay... I predict killzone will be like playing legend or haze but with much better graphics. That's all i think this game will excell at, graphics. Otherwise it will probably be cookie cutter like killzone 1.

I just watched the gameplay video for this game and I'm just curious, is everyone REALLY convinced that this game is going to be absolutely incredible? I've been playing games since I won my Atari 2600 from Cap'n Crunch, I've been around the block and frankly, this doesn't look like anything groundbreaking, at least not how the zealots are making it out to be. Nice graphics? Sure but just in case you haven't realized this, GRAPHICS AREN'T EVERYTHING.

It's one thing to support whatever system you choose to follow but its another thing to do so blindly and in a manner that only hurts rather than supports your candidate. The hype behind this game is so ridiculous that we've reached the point of no return. There's no way that this game will be the end-all, be-all shooter for all times. There's no way that this game can live up to the hype that many of you have created, there's just not. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade but I'm just being observant of all the craziness surrounding this game.

I would LOVE to be proven wrong. I hope this game has something going for it other than pretty graphics. I'm hoping to see some great gameplay and even better, a tight storyline. Killzone 2 looks awesome, the more I hear about it, the more I want to pick up another Playstation 3. But I'm waiting to decide if I should pick up the replacement PS3 until KZ2 comes out, because I though Killzone 1 was horrendous, it may be because my brother played it too much, or it actually was horrendous.

Sony really does need another mainline shooter franchise. They pretty much gave up after the PS3 generation, and I'm really surprised they haven't tried at another high-profile, singleplayer-centric shooter; even if it weren't Killzone or Resistance.

I miss Killzone while I can see why they still do Horizon has some really good things but I do think that Horizon is overrated imo.

Or how about studios focus on projects that they feel passionate about, and not be forced to make something they have little interest in. It shows in the final product.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.

Killzone game after Killzone 2 play style would be nice

Motorstorm would be epic with the visual upgrade, maybe this game would be a harder sell with the genre being not as popular nowadays..

Resistance franchise, Motorstorm and Dirt 2 which was fun as heck. Add Dead Space 2 as well.

PS3 ended up been a beast of a console, slow out of the gate, picked up steam, smashed through the finish line. The 1st PS3 slim is still one of my favourite consoles. So solid, great games, by the time GTA5 and the last of us had come out it was a clear winner for me

Sorry bud, but the PS3 generation was amazing and featured the greatest console comeback in history.

That said, I'd love it if Warhawk returned or Metal Gear Solid 4. It needs to not be shackled to the PS3 generation anymore. A Killzone 2 remake would be insane with modern graphics and that art direction.

I really miss this gen of gaming. It felt like the last truly "great" era for videogames before the modern approach really took hold.

The PS3 was such a glorious console. The UI, the games, the free online...just incredible.

I would pay good money for a Warhawk remake. Socom too. The last Socom game just didn’t do it justice. Folklore could use a remaster or remake as well.
Several other titles I would like to remade with the amount of visual fidelity the current gen has over the past consoles it could help articulate the games that we’ve loved growing up. I would love even some ps2 titles to remade.. Dark Cloud from ps2, Legacy of Kain series but don’t know what will come of it sense it was bought by Embracer group and all there layoffs.

This strategy is exactly what helped ruin Xbox. Sony more than Microsoft know when to let a franchise go and that is important to keep things fresh. The old games are there if you want to play them.
