The PlayStation 2 has achieved 50 million sales on the United States. That's right, we thought it had already done so, but apparently not. Equally as interesting is the fact that it's here until at least 2010 according to John Koller, director of hardware marketing at SCEA.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

wooow ps2 has lasted for long, but i think its really time to stop making games for it and consider on making games for the ps3 and 360.
Well it all depends on the developers..if they choose to stop making games...well it can suddenly die out...
well we gotta wait until they stop making games for the ps2
if they stopped ages ago we would of had better games by now on the 360 and ps3
For nearly a decade the PlayStation 2 has wreaked havok on the gaming industry, with Sony's insatiable greed destroying everything in its wake and irrepairably damaging gaming for future generations. This has finally come to an end thanks to the unparalleled success of the Xbox 360 which has successfully crushed the PlayStation brand and relegated Sony's attempt to control the planet to but another failed chapter in history.
People who purchased a PS2 were deceived by Sony and their incredible lies, about the Emotion Engine and the graphical capabilities of the system being so superior to the competition, which at the time was touted as a supercomputer yet in reality the console failed to keep up with the amazing technical achievement and sensible console design that was the Dreamcast.
Sony is paying for their sins, and I hope they burn for it. Sony is hemorraghing cash, and when they sign for Bankruptcy and PlayStation's are made extinct, it will be the happiest day of my life.
The Xbox 360 has saved gaming for everyone from the evil clutches of Sony, and for this I am eternally grateful.
