Why Windows 7 should be a free upgrade

TechRader Writes:

Windows Vista isn't a bad OS - now. But it's had its problems. Third parties didn't make drivers fast enough, bugs affected obscure features such as, er, copying and deleting files, and Vista Capable PCs were nothing of the sort.

Not all of the problems were Microsoft's fault, but Microsoft's name is on the box - so if people have a less than stellar experience with Vista, it's Microsoft they're going to blame.

Feels as if MS is just lettin go of Vista and going on board with W7.

UltimateIdiot9116371d ago

Not surprise, they did that with ME. If anything, I think Microsoft knew Vista will be annoying. That way, people can hate it so much and those who use it will get use to it, and then they release Win 7 which will be 100x better. Then people will buy Win 7, XP and Vista users alike.

PPnoPP6371d ago

Well if you can afford to buy PS3 I'm sure you can buy Windows 7.

Gue16371d ago (Edited 6371d ago )

PS3 offers a reliable piece of hardware that play HD games and movies, Windows 7 only offers the redemption after the Vista fiasco... A quick fix to a total fail of an OS. =)

An example of FAIL: "Zune", "HD-DVD", "Xbox", "Vista", "Windows Live One Care", "Windows ME", "X360 RRoD", "acquisition of Rare"...

Assuming of course Windows 7 actually fixes the problems i have with Vista. Never in my life have I had to deal with drivers suddenly disappearing during usage.

xwabbit6371d ago

i wouldn't take it anyways rofl

kharma456371d ago

Why the heck not? It's hardly as if Vista was really that awful if you had a decent enough machine to run it.

xwabbit6371d ago

i think my computer is is pretty dam good lol. Ill tell you this, i built computers and i spent 1500 in parts for this computer.

FantasyStar6371d ago

Ok, I spent about $1500 in parts as well. What's your point?

LinuxGuru6371d ago

I spent 800 dollars in parts and my computer probably outperforms 80 to 90 percent of the market.

Proxy6371d ago (Edited 6371d ago )

Nor it's ability to run Vista properly.

I payed 1200 for my PC. My friend bought very nearly the same parts prebuilt by the legendary Alienware for 4,000 dollars.

Same computer. Well, he does get access to some extra adware...

xwabbit6370d ago

FantasyStar do u read the comments u post LOL ?, if u do spend 1500 in parts on a computer it will run anything. Quad core,4GB of ram, XFX MOBO, yeah... if u don't get my point u must really know about computers

Fishy Fingers6371d ago

LOL... yeah that'll happen....

f7897906371d ago

because i could wait for something better and here it comes.

Fishy Fingers6371d ago (Edited 6371d ago )

We'll I bought 2, Ultimate and Premium. I must admit I was disappointed with the gaming performance and Dx10 in general but aside from that it's an ok OS, and I wouldnt expect MS to hand over an update OS free of charge that they spent billions developing.

Still, had I been in the position now, running XP, I'd also wait on Windows 7. I'm running the beta now and performance wise it seems much better than Vista.

Vista seems to be more of a test bed for the new OS kernel (vista and the Windows 7).

Then I have a nice set of PCs, to those with an "average" PC, I can see why Vista may have been quite the let down.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

dveio56d ago

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing55d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9255d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit55d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing55d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9255d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
