I don't feel like custom backgrounds is ever going to happen in the way people want it. I mean the background changes based on the game you have selected so what else would they do beyond having it for the explore tab.

An idea that could work would be giving the player complete control over how the explore tab is displayed and not just a few minor variants and then with that perhaps a custom background would have more meaning. Still, I am not to bothered by not having the feature although I can admit I really loved how you could make custom stuff for the PS3 back in the day.

Just was on my ps5 huge SS add hard 2 read everything and i am using my ps4 to send/reply to messages its so much easier over there.

I also can not use my mic on my ps5 only my ps4

Yeah there's more going on on the interface, for obvious reasons.
Don't know what you mean about seeing games or content you don't own, unless you're looking down in the announcements section or the store. Not like you're getting ads in your face or anything. Start your PS5 and it's still on the game tile you were on when you turned it off.

IKR. The PS5's UI with its palette of dark colors and its creepy and depressing "music", if ya wanna call it that, reminds me sometimes of some of the poorest choices sony made in the past, like with this PS3 commercial https://www.youtube.com/wat...

For a gaming console, that UI and its shortcomings sure as hell doesn't look all that fun.
Plus, I said it before and I'll say it again:
-no web browser
-no dynamic themes
-new trophy unlocking sound that's by most accounts inferior to the one on PS3 & PS4
-cr@p-looking PS store
-cr@p-looking media section
And how could I omit to mention the puzzling lack of an SPDIF digital out socket on the rear... FFS how am I supposed to do to enjoy surround sound now?!

Which is why I'm staying on my PS4 Pro. And I really don't think I'll move to this gen with the mid-gen PS refreshment this time around.

PS3 interface was slow and simplistic. Remember the store wasn't integrated and took forever to come up? Remember how crappy the chat functionality was and how it was stuck on some side menu?
The PS5 interface is the fastest and most fully featured interface so far. I miss a few things for sure but the UI is moving forward and getting better and more modern. I'm happy with what they've been doing
